Strongly disagree.

Wright and Mason-Clarke are both right footed and we won't play either of them as a traditional winger.

Both will play on the left and look to cut in to attack the goal, rather than play wide and cross the ball.

Wright can cross very competently with his left foot, him and EMC will be pulling the ball back for an unrushing Rudoni / Torp / Sheaf or otherwise in towards Simms

That’s a given over a 50 game season, but Robins will have a starting 11 for the most important games in mind.
A 'strongest 11' against a team like Leeds will be different to the strongest against Oxford.
We're building quality in depth so MR can decide he prefers one of Haji's attributes for one game but EMC's for another.

Plus, if we've had anyone sniffing around Haji and/or Simms then we have succession in place.
We're close to having a squad where the best starting 11 doesnt immediately pick itself, because we have quality depth.

Unless Robins thinks Saka is impacted by his injury it would be madness not to start him from the get go imo.

Arguably our most important player during our best run of form.

All quiet on the rumours front?

The club will be saying nothing even a signing is played down. Its just the way we are being run now, we see no value in doing business in public.

It also means we can make changes for cup games and remain competitive

This is exactly my thoughts (which some may believe in turn discredits your thoughts, but hey-ho 😂). I know we’ve got Burroughs but for me he’s another one where the jury’s out on whether he’s ready for this level of football yet.

If Van Ewijk gets injured or just simply needs a rest then all we’ve got is Eccles and Lati, I personally don’t think Lati works well at RB as he’s too slow and doesn’t stretch defences enough like Van Ewijk, and although can Eccles do a job there he’s better in midfield and again isn’t one that’s typically attack-minded. Basically, I’m still not convinced we’ve got a team that’s ready to beat the opposition for promotion.
The real issue is that the squad you want is completely unaffordable.

Yes and no. You obviously need to rotate in and between games and most managers, Robins included, have what they believe is their best team.

This was the case last season where everyone was available and match fit, we played the same starting 11 consistently and this season won’t be any different. Robins will have his strongest 11 in mind and will play that where and as often as he can.

EMC comes off the back of a stand out season in L1, has been handed the coveted 10 shirt and is backed to make it in the Prem. Sakamoto is a cult hero, but I can’t see him improving that much more.

Why not loans or free agents? I never said I was against using either of those. We simply need better quality and depth, there’s multiple ways of doing that. Also what about the Stamenic money that we had lined up? There’s about £4.5 mil available to be spent if we need to.

The idea we have to spend £0 for the rest of the window is ridiculous, we absolutely need players. Sheaf seems to get an injury almost every season and there’s no one as good as him in that area. We can’t rely on Simms to be the lone striker for the whole season, and the same for Van Ewijk at RB. We need more depth and competition, seems obvious to me.

(Swear we’ve had this debate at least once a week since the window opened, getting bored of this now 😂)

Might have to agree to disagree, i just dont think its that clear cut.
Different players have weaker and stronger attributes and MR will know which players suit which systems and tactics better. So it will depend a little on opposition and tactics.

I also may be wrong, but I can't see either of them starting down the right over Saka if hes fully fit. He was unplayable there at times last season and if he resumes at that level he'll be starting.

Only just realised it's 16 days until the season starts

Hope we get the ST and CM in by then
I agree, but they have to be the right calibre and fit. if it means waiting until the end of the window, it will be worth it in the long run for the right players but lets live in hope for the start of the season. I am hoping for a announcement tomorrow night

We paid that much because we wanted a young talented player. No guarantees anyone is first choice. If you expect him to start every game you will be very disappointed
The assumption has to be, given the cash involved, that our best eleven includes Saka, Haji and EMC. But I am buggered if I can see how.

But to have one of your most expensive players, whichever one it may be, purely for injury cover or as an impact sub is not a ploy that is workable with Championship level finances (unless you are on parachute payments)

It looks to me like many teams still have an absolute shit load more business they need to do. If we only need 2-3 more we're ahead of most of The Championship at this point.

Thats how it needs to be if we are serious and not riding on luck alone

It’s like people have forgotten those midweek games last season where half the team looked fucking knackered. That’s when EMC starts, and if he does well he keeps his place.
EMC could start the opening game at this rate if Wright doesn't recover from first minute clocking in the Spanish friendly

That’s reminded me. Do we get new ones or loaded to current cards. If they will be loaded do we get confirmation that it’s been done.

Definitely need a striker, could get away without a CM temporarily if all the options are fit in that position.

I like the look of Obikwu and he could be a useful player for us from the bench.

Well you best tell Robins then because Wright Simms and EMC wont all be starting the season together with Sakamoto

Transfer Window is open until end of August. It is about sourcing and landing the right players. Not just getting bodies in.

I bet you are one of those supermarket panic buyers? You probably still have enough toilet paper left from lockdown to get you through, even if we don't buy anyone before the season starts? 😂

How does EMC starting or not starting have an impact on our finances?

It’s all hypothetical until the season starts. Even if Sakamoto starts the season, the long term trajectory is that EMC and Wright are our longer term options. It remains

Another point to make, Sakamoto’s xG stat wasn’t great, he scored a lot of low probability chances and if I’m being consistent, was in a short timeframe of Dec-Feb so I’m sceptical it was a flash in pan - I obviously it wasn’t but that’s what we seen with COH.

If EMC brings last seasons form into this season, we have a player who is twice that of Sakamoto. He could genuinely be a star for us.

I have never been so.optimistic for a good season. The team looks gelled and looks to have the balance MR craved for last season. A couple of key signings to add completion / cover in ST, DM, RCB and RB will round off the squad nicely

Who has advocated spending zero ? Nobody & certainly not me - something you've just made up How do you know how much there is to spend ? You don't. Strange as you say £4.5M now, previously were happy to spend £11M and now are on about frees and loans .
