You see, I'm a bit worried about Viveash leaving (why change something that's worked?) but for all we know... yet, a change is as good as a rest. Will stop players getting complacent anyway.
Apparently, he upset a lot of the newer players. Generally, quite ‘old school’ and considered an ‘complicated’ character by people at the club. What that actually means specifically.

That snippet of info I was told by a friend at the Hull home game - all 3rd or 4th hand info. Which I took with a bit pinch of salt at the time.

It makes sense. The club has changed with new ownership and personnel-wise with sales of Hamer and Vik. Before, we had a bunch of, let’s be honest, average players that we need to maximise and we did (if you look at their careers after us). The profile of the player has changed and with it, the profile of coaches to maximise their potential.

So I think the conclusion is - Doug is risking his own money, or those of his own investors. He's appointed himself CEO to oversee this investment.

He's accountable to his own bank account and / or investors and that means he has plenty of skin in the game. The idea he walks away unscathed if he fucks this up is complete bollocks. He'll have lost a lot of people a lot of money (presumably including himself) and ultimately will have failed. If he's a super rich man, he's earned the right to take that risk.

Robins - any manager - wants an owner who will back them and give them the infrastructure to suceeed. As best I can tell, Doug is doing that and trying to do it in a way that limits his losses, which are also the club's losses - the thing all of us deeply care about and know has been to the absolute brink due to a total lack of this in the past.

What's wrong with this? Other than we seem to have a very well qualified woman running a lot of the strategy of course. Fucking hell.

Some fans just expect football clubs owned by owners who are benefactors. We’re not all so lucky to be owned by an oligarch or sovereign state.

We froze season tickets prices after a year were commercially, would’ve been sensible to rise prices. The product we’re putting out is fantastic, in Germany during the Euros it was really nice hearing other fans talk about us in glowing terms. Compare that to the pity we had when we were slumming it with SISU, in Northampton, League 2 or in Birmingham.

The look on people's faces when I used to tell them I was a cov fan was always a grimace of pity. Now most fans seem happy we are on the rise again!

No, but if he’s loaning the club money he wouldn’t get it back so would lose significant sums.

He’s doing a good job atm, I don’t get this section of supporters that are so sceptical of him. Commercially, we were a mess during SISU and the relationship so poor, the couldn’t increase prices at all.

Even with all of Doug’s price increases, ST prices are cheaper than they were in 2008/9ish. Which is pretty remarkable when you look at it like that.

In his 3 transfer windows as owner, we’ve spent more on players (including as a % of transfer revenue) than at any point we have a club since relegation from the Prem.

Yes and I am risking losing me loan to William Hill when I place a bet.

This isn’t a slight at Doug, it’s a fact about having no expertise in a business beyond being rich.

He did, but it was a bit later on. He left to go to Liverpool in our last season in prem (bigger loss than Keane for me). Strachan stayed for a few games in the first season down, then (I think), Nilsson came back and was manager till near the end of the season. THEN, McAllister came back as player manager.

Didn't Jim Smith come in after Nilsson?

The joke “how do you make a small fortune in football? Start with a large one” exists for a reason.

There’s poker players who have won big too. There’s always gambling success stories. They aren’t representative.
Another common held fallacy is that people would willingly pay more tax for more better public services. Until they are told you can voluntarily write a cheque to the Inland Revenue. Then funnily people suddenly seem a lot less keen. St Lineker of woke always likes to present himself a virtuous caring man of the people, until you find out him and his millionaire TV celebs pals, music stars and his film star mates are all involved in highly complex tax avoidance schemes, to limit their tax liabilities.
Millionaires by definition hate losing money, but many also have huge egos and believe they can make their business acumen work in football. For billionaires or state run clubs of course, like Chelski or Man City losing millions is probably more acceptable but then there again they have different objectives like 'sport washing', or countries like Saudi Arabia trying to improve their worldwide negative image.

I disagree. I think a lot of people would willing pay more tax for better public services. Writing a cheque to the HMRC is not more tax though.

Very few people can afford to just offer more to the inland revenue personally without really feeling the pressure as life still costs money. But if that is payable by all it becomes an easier burden to bear as everyone else is also affected by it. Plus if everyone pays it it can have a decent effect on tax revenues. Joe Bloggs offering an extra few grand isn't going to make a difference. Millions of people paying that will.

That's the difference. If the govt say we're going to take an extra 2p in the pound as tax those people would say that's fine. Ask them just send us extra money off your own back that no-else (especially the rich) will pay and the answer will invariably be no.

Next week it will be Gavin Strachan or Gareth Southgate
Imagine Southgate rocking up to be Assistant manager:

'Right lads training on Monday will be later at 10:30 am, I've got to make sure the corner of the goals have masking tape on and there will barriers set up on the training pitch to keep you safe absolutely nothing.... Oh and don't forget I want you in full PPE! '

Football is a strange business but that really would be crazy. Had been working as a football adviser at Como with Fabregas.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Wise

The trouble is fans make judgements on a name and what they know and remember about them as a player. They won't know anything about their coaching qualifications, their coaching ability, how up to date their coaching skills are. Their real personality and mentoring ability.

Some of the most talented and gifted footballers have pancaked as managers and coaches.

I remember John Sillet saying, "I wasn't a natural footballer, I had to work hard at it. I had to listen to the coaches and learn about tactics. The good players didn't as it was all instinct and natural ability. I hard to learn everything about how to play football.". I think that is what made him a good coach and he just wanted players to enjoy playing football.

The new Assistant Manager (AM) has a hard act to follow with Adi, as he has been our most successful AM ever. He was consistently successful previously at Chelsea. That is evidence based not speculation.
I have seen endless theories on here about players not liking him, bullying and falling out with King. I am yet to see anyone provide conclusive evidence to support these theories. Clearly, something has happened, but until Adi or the club make a statement explaining the reason for his leaving it is all up in the air. The silence is deafening.
Adi was not a dinosaur. You do not succeed the way he has being "old school". We have been a performance based club since the Ransom days.
We needed a broader training team but not necessarily a new AM.
Look at the evidence of our results and our style of play. Look how we have turned games like Wolves and Man U last season around. That is team spirit that comes from winners on your staff. How the players from this club and players he knows in the game after matches are always having a laugh with him.
MR was saying Adi paints the pictures just recently and he was given a four year contract not a year ago.
Read the interviews in the Telegraph if you don't think Adi was something special.

His contract was terminated 3 years early which suggests the club feel they need l/ had to move on to improve.

He was our coach in our rock bottom years. Both parties at the time were probably a good fit for each other? He helped move us on and was successful . He had a high profile past at Chelsea. But if he was really that good why was he never poached from us?

Adi Viveash did a good job for us. But it doesn't mean we can't move forward and improve. You don't progress by standing still.

I’m just sharing on what I was told, none of this is my own opinion.

If he’s got had a 4 year contracted terminated just one year in with a short paragraph when he did leave after 7+ years at the club… Points towards him effectively being sacked.

Then ask yourself why that might be?

He came in when we were rock bottom sure and playing shit football. We finished higher every year apart from last year when our cup run and injuries caught up with us. We were a whisker away from a cup final. That says with Adi we have never stood still, and there is no evidence to suggest we would go backwards. Adi was talking about us getting to the Prem as just a matter of time. We were just simply getting better year on year. Virtually every player through the door improved and Adi was a big part of that no matter the level we were playing. Sure you could point out a few that haven't improved but they are far outweighed by the successes.
We have had 7 years of the best football played in years and much of this during the SISU shitshow. People need to acknowledge Adi for the major influence he has had on this club.
Read the articles in the Telegraph. Unusually he was happy here as a number two and was not seeking to move. Why has MR never been poached? Exactly the same argument. Is he not good enough either and we need to improve by replacing him?
Change is not always for the better especially if the new AM is not the right person. Change can often come with potential downsides. Never said we cant improve with a better AM, but as I said a hard act to follow.

I think you are probably right but until details see the light of day we will not know. I really hope it is not some trivial excuse because Adi was not a yes man. See his response to Mourinho about his coaching methods. You need balls to stand up to the special one when he was at his peak at Chelsea.
