Vile racists online continue to be arrested. They do feel sorry for themselves though.

Even if we give her the benefit of the doubt and say she didn't actually mean what she said, she deserves locking up for the stupidity of it.

Why on earth would you post something like that?
I think the "burst of anger" defence is blown out of the water by the "if that makes me a racist then so be it" punchline.

She'll go down for that. She has a daughter too, FFS.

People are so fucking stupid.

She's stupid, she shouldn't have said it, she is racist, I don't believe a word of her apology.

I think we can all agree on the first part above.

Where we'll disagree is, I'm not sure anyone who wasn't already going out to cause trouble, would be incited to do so by those words. Jail for that versus crimes including physical ones or theft or drugs that aren't jailed, doesn't make it comfortable with me that this unless a string of similar, is a jailable offence.

Not sure what's to be gained by it either. Will be a tax burden and unlikely to offend in other ways, would be better to make her spend some time working for a race charity.

British Chess Championships were in Hull last week. Quite a few of the child members of our Saturday club are those of immigrants and just yards outside the playing venue, an Asian man had his car stopped before rioters dragged him out and set the thing on fire.

What possesses anyone to do that?

The Tennison Gambit or Sicilian Defence?

I see where you're coming from but it doesn't make me uncomfortable that she could go down. Words have consequences.

Advocating burning hotels with people inside isn't a slap on the wrist and "don't do it again" offence.

No sympathy for her. Feel for her daughter though. I wonder if she's old enough to know her mother is a racist. Let's hope she doesn't follow in her mother's footsteps.

I'd politely disagree mate, though I absolutely understand your point of view.

This is a situation born almost entirely out of hatred and misinformation spread on social media. There have to be severe consequences for people who do it, as much as anything else to dissuade anyone else from doing it in the future.

I intensely dislike locking people up, especially given how useless our prisons are at rehabilitation. But personally, I think a prison sentence is called for here. Respect entirely that we differ.

Thinking back to James Timpson’s interview which circulated round the time he was appointed as a minister, wonder what his stance would be?

Where's Katie Hopkins & Lauren Fox etc all of a sudden when this is all kicking off? Something definitely needs to be done about social media platforms after this has all died down - it's been responsible for brewing something like these riots for years now - they're all cesspits
I work at the Childrens in Brum city centre & I wouldn't be at all surprised if we were allowed to leave work early tomorrow

It would be interesting to hear, though politically I suspect he might be kept quiet for a bit because Starmer is going to want to look tough on this.

Don't get me wrong, I'm generally with Timpson - we're locking too many people up, and giving them very little chance of rehabilitation.

But this is serious stuff, and it needs a heavyweight response. The far right, and people who egg them on, need putting back in their box, and pronto, imho.

Social media problem is huge. It’s uncontrolled and sending all sorts of misinformation around in a split second. I’m not sure what can be done but Elon Musk is using his own platform on X to stir things up at a delicate time in our country. I used to just find some breaking Coventry transfer goss for us on SBT on X but my timeline is just poisoned in recent days with all this shit.

I agree, but from what I’ve seen they may have to prioritise who gets a cell if the prisons are all overflowing

This one is pretty bad though, the CPS solicitor will have an open goal to link her words to people actually trying to burn the hotel down.

The defence is her nauseating climb down, and the impact on her daughters if she served time.. I guess we’ll see in due course

Katie Hopkins was congratulating the rioters, and posting up meeting places and times for the upcoming “patriot gatherings” on Twitter

Thinking about it Saturday's match is a real risk. If it kicks off tommorow at the 30 events planned that Sky just mentioned I cannot see how police will cope with policing footy matches where tensions could be high. Imagine few thousand Stoke fans if result doesn't go their way. I imagine Cobra are looking very hard at this given Hull, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Millwall are all at home.
there's not 30 events planned

the "list" was created by 1 person who wants to see if he can stir up trouble and see how many people actually turn up

Probably not, but if you're pitching it as a racist hate crime, why didn't they go after every white bloke in the pub?

Have you seen the full video, it looks like the bloke (who is the only one visible outside the pub) is waving his arms around and shouting at the arseholes outside.

Maybe he was asking them to go away politely, who knows. Either way he didn't deserve a kicking, but it's telling that the whole pub wasn't turned over.

Do you think the far right fuckers would have been as discerning if they got into a mosque or hotel.

Either way, if you're trying for the "two tier" bollocks again, try harder. Prosecuting for violent disorder is an entirely justifiable approach in this instance.

Turns out that bloke who was stood outside & goading the mob has now been banned from that pub - good 👍

Does anyone know who Pat is? I've noticed a lot of people online inciting him to cause trouble.
