EMC and Wright were very poor today. It was like playing with no attacking outlets.

MR is backed into a corner with Bassette/Simms/BTA, he’ll always bring on Simms (and rightly so in some ways) but he doesn’t suit a pressing game, and without changing shape he can’t then get Bassette on the pitch.

You sure ? Our midfield is nowhere near top 6 , and the back line definitely not

In terms of wingers and strikers , possibly yes
Last season, our record against the top half teams was bad. Unlike this season, however, we usually beat the teams we were above.

We need a change im afraid. Looks like it has run its course. 8 points is a shambles

We weren’t bullied. We looked the better team throughout, but if you’re going to concede stupid goals, you’re not going to win very often.

The second half should’ve been them playing for an equaliser and we get opportunities to catch them out. But no, another embarrassing goal gifted and they get to put 10 men behind the ball to get a smash and grab win.

We look like England in the Euros in attack, running out of ideas quickly. Unlike that team, we just can’t defend.

Generally quite aligned with your views, but disagree re being bullied. Post BTA incident we competed more, but before that we looked weak.

Whatever the combination the defence looks vulnerable.

Is it ? That's an incredible take based off performances this season
Clearly the whole team is underperforming, but we've spent a hell of a lot of money on players the last couple of years, so it certainly should be. MVE was wanted by a top Dutch club (was it Feyenoord?), Simms was wanted by Brentford, Wright is our record signing, Sheaf is talked about as one of the best midfielders in the division. Think we're weak defensively (albeit with potential) but, yes, we shouldn't be just outside the bottom 3. Should be closer to top than bottom given the spend and the individual quality we have. We've seen the vast majority of these players perform at this level over the last 2 years. We look a shadow of last year with largely the same players.

From good to bad?

Robins is hardly going to say the recruitment was wrong is he.

He's a very good manager and has been brilliant for us. I just can't believe he suddenly doesn't have a clue what he's doing
If Bidwell hadn’t been injured, dragging off EMC would have been his only change of the game. He surely can’t have watched what was going on and thought nothing had to be done.

honourable mentions for doing what?

other than score Rudoni went missing for large periods, but was probably the best of a bad bunch

Sheaf ok in patches, a couple of needed challenges but nothing special

Eccles one decent cross field ball but otherwise shite

The midfield isn’t good enough

Not saying they were great, but the fact they didn’t hide and actually wanted the ball is better than the rest.

And there you’re really arguing for a change of manager.

I said during the game we needed to get Lati on for EMC and play wing backs as our formation just wasn’t working

The usual absolute garbage coming out on here- “the players can’t be bothered”, “this is a top six squad”, “a new manager would get much better results- rubbish.

nothing has changed, there is still something very rotten going on, but with each match you kind of get a bit more of an idea as to what’s causing it all.

1. If Wright is off form we create nothing and are impotent going forward.

2. The squad is blatantly not as good as we were all assuming & hoping

3. we have a massive hole in terms of leadership

4. The new coaching setup at this stage is a failure. Either Robins isn’t listening to them or they have no meaningful input.

5. The players are unable to adapt in matches, appear totally bereft of confidence, and have no discipline in terms of getting pulled all over the place, they don’t look cohesive at all.

Solutions?

King isn’t going to start offloading coaching staff or authorising another huge spending spree.

So.. get an experienced head in asap, someone that can lead, and someone that can bark at people, and someone Robins trusts

apart from that I don’t see what else can be done, aside from get a new manager, and I don’t want that.

there’s still a part of me that thinks “it’ll be ok, it’s like this every year”, but so much has changed that I’m not sure this holds any more.
I understand the desire for a number two. But in all honesty I’m not sure it changes much.

Was sat in corporate so saw the coaches going up to Robins all game and giving him their views (a lot of them were having a go at the CMs for getting dragged).

If a new assistant comes in, more than likely it’ll take them a while to settle and even then it’s just more voices to add.

Surely Robins need to get control of them. Think anyways it more likely we will only get a assistant with a new manager.

Mark Robins has just said it must change, it has to change, well your the Manager, F**king change it then. 🤡

I wonder- and I may be veering into conspiracy myself- if Mr King might be getting a call with a few things that he needs to be done otherwise thats it. Loan some experience in at CB/ CM, plus whatever else he feels might be doing the damage

I don’t mean a number two- I mean on the pitch. An experienced player to get hold of them.

MR isn’t blameless but this group of players is really becoming unlikeable.

Having played well Tuesday we got Hadji Shite today.

Kitching is a disaster waiting to happen.

EMC might as well not have been on the pitch.

Simms when he came on and having been dropped couldn’t be bothered to run the channels when we broke.

Despite the money paid the squad isn’t good enough, were heading for a relegation battle the way things are going.

Not sure what the answer is with the current squad, can’t see a formation change making any difference.

There needs to be a serious conversation had in the break. Feels like the end of an era but would lose half the squad before Robins although accept that’s not happening.

Order free agents like Alan Browne that we fucked about on.

We’re our own worst enemy at times.

I think the conversation has to also be had at the thought process of not offering the wages to our best players .

If we offered O hare and hamer the money at the time , then surely that's better value over 5 years than for example 5 million on a player and 4 years worth of his wages ontop ?

We are making BAD business decisions really , we should have offered Cal the money , we should have offered hamer the money and we need to recruit better too

I am now getting very pissed off with this lot. There was so much promise at various stages of last season after the appalling start but all I can see over the last third of last and the beginning of this is regression. Nothing appears to be "joined up". Much of the time I cannot derive what the game plan is , players are either nowhere as good as I thought they were , lacking in confidence or being very badly coached . Currently I am favouring the latter but I may be wrong. How the fuck did we contrive to lose to Wedenesday who are at best mediocre and more realistically very poor ? Something is very wrong at the club.

Robins post match:

Shot ourself in foot
Concede in both injury times.
Didn't start with tempo we needed
Let Sheffield wed off hook
Poor decisions for goals conceded
Game management not good enough
Last half hour we had some energy.
Lost cos of decision making
Ben sheaf not ready to receive ball when conceded seconds
So disappointed
We are giving too many games away
Is winning 2 in a row too much for this squad?
Sheff wed athletic team
We are a good team but we don't show it regularly
We have to start building momentum or seasons over
This wasn't down to lack of energy
Played backwards too often
Pedestrian out there
Don't put teams to sword
Don't think was lack of effort just lack of thought
Players till choosing easy options
Disappointed as I've ever been
Good teams won't let u have the ball I have to work for it. Stop taking easy options
Too much long ball for his liking
5-6 players away now. Maybe 13 players left to work with over break
Bidwell ligament injury. Prob out for 3-4 weeks
Two poor Saturdays
If we keep making poor decisions we will not build any momentum
Players need to stick to principles . In training they know how to play tactic . Stop taking easy options
Just poor
