The 2024 landslde campaign was clearly the best.
Of course it was. America needs to hear more about trans athletes, less about the economy. Lies about immigrants eating animals needed to be told. ‘Concepts’ of a healthcare plan beat coming up with a real one.

Stupid me. But then this is why I’m checking out of bothering with politics. You’ve put a fascist in office who has pledged to carry out some dreadful policies, enjoy it I guess

I mean I just straight up disagree with this and that’s pretty much all there is to it. To say you think Trump was genuinely the better candidate does astonish me coming from you though.

When the dust settles, sensible people of the left will come to realise just how bad a candidate and campaign Harris 2024 was. Right now, many people are in the grieving stage of ‘denial’.

Trump not only won the electoral college, he swept all the swing states and won the popular vote. In fact, Harris did not even out perform the last election at the county level. Trump made inroads in every state and every demographic - that didn’t happen by accident.

We’re going around in circles here. She isn’t who I would have nominated, nor is Biden. But I will maintain for a long time yet, she ran a good campaign, picked a strong running mate, and made it about the issues not about identity politics.

I don’t think we’ll ever agree on this one mate and that’s fine, my view is in the minority stateside and the price of that will be a tyrant in the White House. It will be disastrous for the US.

I just don't get it. I don't care if he ran a better campaign than Harris.

I just don't understand how anyone with any degree of decency and sense of moral compass, could vote for a convicted felon and rapist.

It's incredibly baffling.

It should stop right there. He's a felon and a rapist. Right, I cannot vote for him then.

My American friend is so embarrassed by all this and she even sent me an apology.

Time will tell who is right and at the end of the day, neither of us live in the states so it won’t impact us directly yet.

We survived one Trump administration, I am confident we’ll survive.

Interesting you mention survival, Trump’s deregulation caused deaths over there from listeria outbreaks. His plans to boot tens of millions off healthcare will be carnage.

Won’t affect us, but I feel for the many Americans over there, including those who put him into power, who will suffer.

Very true, Harris never had a single policy, she was nothing but meaningless soundbites, and spent a fortune on pointless celebrities like Beyonce etc.
She became the official candidate without even having to qualify and managed to do worse than Biden.

In short she was an absolute disaster.

Another outright lie that is in fact true of Trump with respect to not having policies.

No you’re right, trans athletes are the country’s number one priority. This was an election result decided by wanting to boot out the Democrats because of high inflation.

When your hero runs the country into the ground, it will be the opposite in 4 years time.

And who has admitted to sexual assault and that he’d fuck his own daughter. But introducing yourself as “she/her” is a disqualifier

It’s very hard not to be elitist when this is the shite you have to deal with.

What’s his healthcare policy?
What fucking planet have you been living on???

Are you serious or is this some kind of weird wind up?

Let me introduce you to something called Google, or you can use YouTube to listen to him talk about his health policies.

But solely for your benefit here's one of many many clues.

And in case you weren't aware, back home in Great Britain, the labour party won the general election!

Let me introduce you to something called a presidential debate. Trump was asked if he had a healthcare plan. He replied that he had ‘concepts of a plan’, so in other words, he hasn’t got one.

Your article mostly just says that RFK Jnr will be allowed to ‘go wild’ on healthcare. For the record, the Harris pledges were to erase medical debt and include home care as part of the Medicare program.

It’s just pointless debating like this. The lunatic will soon be running the asylum

Trans athletes feature nowhere in the list of issues Americans prioritised for this election. Trump chose to make it his main campaign focus in the last few weeks.

Apparently that is genius strategy and Harris didn’t care enough about economics. It’s just opposite land at this point!

But not obvious enough to identify it and expose him on it. Frankly ridiculous!
A definite wedge issue that he manufactured and completely obvious imo!

Listened to the Rest Is Politics podcast earlier and Anthony Scaramucci said Trump doesn't read full documents or policy or anything like that. He has to have it condensed to a couple of pages, and those couple of pages has to include lots of pictures of Trump.

A literal child in charge of the US.

I imagine his inner circle will be the ones telling him what he should do. So really just Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, and his sons

What part of a vaccine conspiracy theorist, who lost half of his brain to a parasite, who wants to remove fluoride from the water supply, going wild on healthcare doesn’t sound like a valid policy to you?

Yep that's pretty much what Scaramucci said - Trump has said he's not actually going to do any work, he's going to get other people to do it (but they aren't allowed to take any credit).

Fatso has set me straight. And who can forget the far right rally in New York, where jokes were shared about black people eating watermelons, Puerto Rico being an island of garbage, and it was declared that every single Democrat was scum?

Genius level campaign strategy.

Yeah but somebody inferred education is correlated with voting patterns, supported by data, which on balance is more offensive.

‘I care about getting inflation down to help with living costs’

‘OK, I will introduce price controls on certain goods, increase the child tax credit and provide free food for schoolkids’

‘Interesting, what about you Donald?’

‘What’s up with tranny athletes? Oh, I’ll put tariffs on everything to make the costs of goods go up even more bigly.’

‘Yeah that’s my guy’

Price controls/caps almost always end in failure. A lot of Americans want jobs, not charity from the federal government - see the difference in the approach from the campaigns? It’s the taxpayer who funds this increase in government expenditure and Harris couldn’t rule out tax rises whereas Trump promised tax cuts.

As an aside, Trump’s pledge to abolish tax on overtime and tips is massively popular with working people. Likewise, reducing corporation tax was linked to job creation by his campaign and obviously this cut through in key states.

A lot of voters agree in principle with tariffs on imports, there’s even this fantasy of the libertarians in the USA that they can abolish income tax and replace them with trade tariffs. Something even Elon Musk came out against and I agree that is bad policy.
