Not sure why Thomas-Asante is being singled out. At least he is challenging for the ball and pressing. Wright is being out muscled every time. There are occasions when he should get his body between the ball and defender and he doesn't. Noone is able to hold onto the ball in the attacking 3rd. It then leaves us continuously vulnerable to the counter.

For all the talks of “nobody over the age of 25” Sunderland team have an average age of about 20. Our signings this year just are not good enough. Why the hell have we spent 4.5m on EMC for him to sit on a bench and play a formation where he doesn’t even fit?

Yeah, standard SBT. A lot of this squad are good players*, I do worry about temperament etc but we should be doing a lot better this season

* might’ve overpaid for some but that doesn’t mean they’re bad players

Rudoni doesn’t play with anything like the intensity of O’Hare, we have no-one capable of linking the play at speed. He’s got a great delivery on him but I don’t see what he offers beyond that.
