Didn't someone chuck a chair at him in a pub once?
Proper made me sad and angry but after we played on Saturday it was easier to face
Now I’m more angry at the lack of respect in the statement and I’m not sure Doug is aware of the lasting impact Mr had. I think quite literally he saved the football club and certainly helped us all fall back in love with it

That said No manager is the club and certainly no owner is

What’s the plan
What’s success?
why change the goalposts?
why now?
etc

What if King is actually right?

Perhaps it’s the fans naive belief in Robins that risk us taking a massive backward step this year.

If he's right, then he's right. I'm big enough to say I'm wrong but I think people have short memories. DK is not a football man but he must think it's easy. Look at the amount of clubs that spend year on year and do nothing apart from change their manager. How much success did we have during our Championship years (& fall) before MR took over? The merry go round of managers.

You're definitely right about being naive though, I hoped that as a club, we had some loyalty in this modern era of football. As progression, last season was Robins worst. We still finished 9th and got to the semi-final of the FA cup. Robins has never taken us back.

Im really keen to hear that doug is held to account and explain his actions. Whats done is done and Robins isnt coming back. I want to hear whats next, but i also want to hear the logic behind the timing of the decision and how this ties into the expectations upon the new person.

If Doug says this years target is now nothing more than consolidation then i want answers on why the treated Robins so poorly. If they are happy to accept the season as done, then I want to know why Robins couldnt have seen out the year and been given a farewell more respectful, with a replacement then appointed in the summer, with a whole pre season and transfer window to recruit.

I'm not accepting that we've 'wasted' a third of a season and so the new guy gets a season free pass, plenty of teams in history including ourselves have mounted Play Off challenges for where we are or worse positions.

The only way this decision is acceptable to me is if Doug has gambled that the new guy is going to deliver play offs this year. If thats the case i can semi respect the gamble, it either pays off or it doesnt.

I was gutted as you and many of us were when the news dropped. Personally, I refused to believe it and thought my mates were pissing about.

Now the dust has settled, can anyone say that they’d have backed any other manager who’s been on the same run as Robins in 2024?

My answer to that is no. I agree that the club should have had the loyalty to give MR the chance to turn it around. Given at least until
Xmas and the chance to strengthen the squad in Jan. Equally, if Robins had lost the dressing room, then a bad situation could’ve got worse and relegation would’ve been a disaster and would half the value the value of our squad.

It pains me to say it, but we’ll see if the ruthless decision to sack Robins was the right one.

No point asking why AV was sacked or why DL moved on, the answer isn't going to give you anything useful.

The focus of questions needs to be on what's happening next and nothing else.
Disagree, I believe it's a perfectly legitimate question to ask. Two seemingly successful background staff are no longer at the club ,
" Mr King, why do you think they are no longer with the club?"

Whether he chooses to answer is not the point.

If there’s levels involved then you won’t get a meaningful answer as both parties have an NDA.

Dennis Lawrence leaving is no secret. He got a promotion, pay rise and moved closer to home. The definition of a no-brainer for him.

The sacking happened months ago in reality. I think the hope was there would be some moment of clarity from Doug before he finished the job and turned us into Stoke. The pain of losing our best manager in my lifetime is only compounded with the pain of knowing our owner is exactly the idiot we all feared he was.

On the “any other manager” point that keeps coming up. The reason for that is any other manager hasn’t got results to back up the idea of a turnaround. People pro this decision are already saying basically the new guy has 18 months to prove himself, that’s about the length of most managers tenure, because most managers tenures fail to prove in that 18 months they are the right fit. Robins had already proven that. The sensible place to look was all the changes brought in in the last 18 months when the club has gone to shit compared to its prior trajectory.

No, I agree. I wouldn't but that's kind of the point, in 2 ways.

One: If the new manager finishes mid table this season then next, if we find ourself in the bottom half, 12 games in. He won't have the fans backing him like Robins had, so this time next year we could be looking for another manager. I know I would be calling for them to be sacked, as we are now aware it's not good enough.

Two: He was Robins, of everything he's done, including turning the season around twice from being in a similar position and time of the season.

Any idea if those attending have had pre-prepared questions given to them? For Doug King.

Doesn’t seem like the sort of businessman that walks into a forum like that, knowing he’ll be asked some very taxing and unvetted questions.

People on Twitter who are going have said no pre vetted Qs, just told not to swear as it’s live.

Exactly the opposite of what people assumed then, as per. Fair play to him, Joy and Tim would be hiding in their nuclear bunker.

My initial question wasn't why did they leave, it was why weren't they replaced?

Absolutely spot on. I was saying this over and over yesterday. It is pointless sacking Mark if the new guy isn't going to improve on what King presumed he was going to achieve. All this "third of the season has gone so he gets a free pass" stuff is nonsense. And unacceptable.

So would you have accepted it if we finished something like 12th and Robins was sacked in the summer?

Nobody is saying a free pass.

The point about the third of the season has gone is valid.

Have to disagree. People might not be explicity saying "free pass" but that's what they mean. There were a few comments yesterday advocating just that.

The double standards now emanating from the people that were constantly ranting about wanting him gone, it’s embarrassing.

They’re not explicitly using the words “free pass” but that’s what they mean, we can all see that.

We were 19th in November 2022. Finished 5th. No validity at all.

Your head has gone and the fact people are liking your posts shows you aren't alone. Never seen anything like it, the reaction to this is worse than when we were bombed out to Northampton. Weird stuff.
