Dean Austin position untenable (1 Viewer)

Have to agree. Can’t help but think one crucial signing this window could bring the best out of the players around them. I don’t think this Chelsea kid is that player.

Think an experienced player is needed to have that sort of influence. Hopefully we get one.

2 posts later? Was it, really? It was from a while back so not "2 posts later".

Was it made up on the same level as King hiring Austin even though he didn't own the club?

He did own the club! He purchased an 85% stake a month earlier. The takeover didn’t get EFL approval until mid Jan but the deal was agreed and signed.

They'd agreed the sale - you don't just have the new boss running around hiring and firing people before he's officially taken over.

And you don’t make appointments the new owner doesn’t agree with either normally.

Again I’d go back to the fact that Austin survived the post King cull more than any other member of staff. Even if you blame Robins for hiring him somehow, you have to accept King has made a conscious decision to keep him on. Or is this Lampard couldn’t drop Collins all over again?

I wouldn't have thought so. Championship clubs are permitted to lose no more than £39m across the reporting period which is over 3 years iirc.

We're a loss making club but we'll be nowhere near making any kind of regulatory breach.

We'll have reported the Gyokeres and Hamer sales in y/e 31/5/24 accounts but not all of the subsequent purchases will be in those accounts, so there is potential we might be close to break even or even (unlikely) in profit for that year. We shall see in the next few weeks.

Players like Harry Darling, Lewis O’Brien etc are incredibly experienced for their age and could be ideal to come in and raise the quality levels. Of course they may not be available but that’s the type of signing I would be happy with us paying slightly over the odds for.

Even Holding I could sort of understand it but I cannot see what the young Chelsea lad will provide in the immediate future.

The King takeover was approved a couple of weeks after Austin joined. The approval took a bit of time but was almost a guarantee after the years of SISU.

You have no idea when conversations between the club and Austin first started though. It's complete conjecture and speculation.

Yeah I’m sure a club selling players for grass was knee deep in a search for a new head of recruitment! Badlan hadn’t even left when King agreed to buy the club.

So just to be clear, we think Austin is bad so it means King hired him before he had taken over (he told SISU to hire him) in negotiations and talks and it's nothing to do with the fact that Robins knew him. :ROFLMAO: Obviously, if he had scouted some world-class players it would be because he was Robins bessie.

Then people wonder why I point out some of the Jackanory shit that gets posted? People need to take a step back to see what they are posting before pressing Save.

Oh right of course I forgot we didn't appoint one when we were considerably worse off in L1.

The timeline just so you’re clear is:

16th Nov: King agrees to buy 85% stake in club
30th Nov: Badlan leaves for Blackpool
13th Dec: Austin appointed
10th Jan: EFL approves takeover
27th Jan: King buys final 15%

Feel free to craft your nonsense around that

And it was all fuck all to do with Robins still. :ROFLMAO:

Because we still needed recruitment ffs.
Why would SISU recruit when the club was sold? How long do you think it took to agree on a price for our club and then get approval from the FL? A lot longer than the 2 week difference between Austin taking over and the deal being finalised.

More like King wanted someone in place for the January transfer window that started a week before the deal was finalised.

Shock horror football club replaces head of recruitment after sudden departure!!!

You've cracked it. Deep state was 100% involved.

Jackanory? That's saying SISU wanted an extra wage to pay when our club was already sold 😂😂😂

Because it's a football club, they have scouts and recruitment teams and we did even in League 2. If one goes then another one replaces them.

Boddy was still running the day to day side of things like that.

This is like when Robins said himself he planned the new coaching structure but people still try and deny it because it didn't work.

FFS you are ridiculous. Just accept you were wrong. Badlan left after King agreed. You said they were probably already looking at Austin before he agreed. Which would be weird when he had a HoR.
