He started out wanting to play out from the back and through the lines but we have largely stopped that unless it’s genuinely safe to do so. We are also playing a much higher line now than when he first joined.

It might be that he knows that Bidwell and Paterson are not the answer but they are solid options for now.

We weren't going to ever bring a LB in unless one of Dasilva or Bidwell were moved on.

Keeping Bidwell makes sense. He'll likely be put on a lesser contract, and he has invaluable experience that is sorely lacking in this team.

I don't really get the doom and gloom about retaining him to be honest.

Far better to keep him than Dasilva who is a complete liability.

Not sure the extension is about being potless then, more likely about him impressing Lampard since he’s been here. Robins didn’t want him. Lampard does . The fact that we’re lacking in experienced players round the group is probably a major factor

I don’t know considering he was off until Lampard has come in, seems Lampard wants him. Gives us experience in a young squad and is a decent rotation option. Would want Dasilva gone though to make more sense

Honestly Cam if we were linked with him at the start of the window would you have been happy ?
Like I've said on another thread , we would be mocking another club for signing him , it's a really underwhelming signing

Also why would we be mocking another club? 44 apps and 13 goal contributions last year, he's not some clogger.

I agree with this up to a point. Bidwell is not poor but he’s not going to get any quicker, and ideally we’d replace them both in the summer.

Hes nowhere near good enough for what we want and has never held down a first team spot since signing really. I don’t see the point in continuing with him when his contract is up.
