Overall, Trump granted fewer clemencies than many of the modern presidents.[3]

Since 1921, only two Presidents granted fewer clemencies than Trump; in his first term, he only granted 237 clemencies, compared with about 78 by George H.W. Bush and about 200 by George W. Bush.

Meanwhile in Biden land....

They are among the roughly 1,540 people whose sentences were commuted or who were pardoned by President Joe Biden on Thursday in what was the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.

Are you are pointing out that Biden made far more use of this facility than Trump?

All this windmilling because Biden prevented Trump from carrying out his plan for revenge?

The plans to take revenge on people who prosecuted the insurrectionists was hardly a secret. Who won the 2020 election in your view?
Why do you ask me something I don't know the answer to?

Would not be surprised at all if Musk had a wager with his online alt-right memelord buddies to see how many Roman salutes he could sneak into a live speech on inauguration day. Epic prank, sir!!

Elon waving to his mate.

Wtf with all these preemptive pardons for crimes yet to be committed (discovered)?

Drill baby drill isn't particularly what the world needs at this juncture. Apart from that Donald's speech had some really good bits - 2 genders and send the army to the border.

I found a graphic that explains better than you could comprehend. Have you got it now?

But let's be accurate... it is a tad misleading as..

Most of the Biden count is from a blanket pardon of ~6500 offenders for marijuana possession.
Carter's blanket pardon of ~209000 Vietnam era draft dodgers is missing.

Even discounting the pot heads Biden is still well ahead of Trump though.

I’ll try ‘waving’ like that tomorrow and will let you know how it goes

from the police station.

Apparently this is easier to understand than who won an election between two people

Trump pretending to sign official executive orders is pure embarrassing, being lapped up by tbe MAGA crowd. Sat there for hours in a basketball arena listening to him waffling on. They are such an immature bunch cheering and whooping at withdrawing from Paris Treaty etc. They haven't got a clue what any of it means. Numbskulls.

Americans in general seem as thick as pigshit.

BBC coverage today showing loads of people celebrating Trump’s inauguration. Most of them Hispanic by the look of it. Turkeys voting for Christmas.

An undocumented immigrant who has lived in the US for 25 years being interviewed. Shows her Face and doesn’t speak American.

Trump said he will Make America Great Again, as he claimed last time. What went wrong? Trump is probably the biggest arsehole in America. Quite an achievement in a country with so very many aresholes.

what a ridiculous thing to say
Why? It’s the impression they leave me with. IIRC your wife is American, I’m sure she isn’t pig shit thick she married a Sky Blue. Apologies if I’m wrong about you being married to an American.

The start of the inauguration welcoming “ the honorable Donald Trump”. Do they know what that word implies - given they can’t spell it correctly.

People celebrating Trumps inauguration when they look like the key targets of his executive orders.

At the very least , many Americans seem to have little common sense.

Americans lack a bit of knowledge about the outside world certainly, largely in part because the country is so huge. I had meetings in New Jersey last week, and a couple of the people flying in came from the west coast, and it almost took them as long as me.

Most Americans are very friendly people, and very hospitable though. The country gets a bad name in the media, and I've known many people a bit hesitant to go because of it, but they've come back with great reactions. Sit in a bar over there and you'll have more people talk to you than many places in the world.

They're a pretty proud bunch, sometimes a bit ignorant to go with it, and there's certainly times I've felt like an alien telling people about my home planet of the United Kingdom, but they're always respectful.

It isn't surprising to me that Trump won. It isn't because they're all racist, stupid, or following Elon Musk on twitter. Trump speaks basic language that people understand and wants the country to be a better place (even if he is a bit of a clown and says a lot of dumb shit). I've been having some very interesting conversations with a variety of different people here. Some absolutely hate him, some love him, most people are fairly indifferent but think he'll try to do more for them than the alternative, of which multiple people told me they felt patronised by.

Other than the hardcore anti-Trump people, most of the negativity towards Trump I've seen comes from Europe to be honest. Take what you want from it, but whilst I think many Americans are cautious about Trump, there is much optimistism within that as well. The media might show you people in red hats spouting slogans to a camera, but in reality most people aren't like that and have a bit more common sense.

This is it. Such a diverse landscape with different climates and varying topography. All accessible on flights without needing a passport.

Here is Los Angeles you could go skiing in the morning, and be at the beach in the afternoon. How many other places can say that

Throw on top of that, that they’ve all been told the US is the best country in the world from childhood (and let’s face it…it has been the worlds dominant superpower for the last 80 years), and it’s little wonder that they don’t have a whole load of knowledge of the outside world other than what they were taught.

How many brits would travel to spain/italy/portugal for example, if they were an 8 hour flight away, if we could stay in england and get better weather?

Also, we’re all a product of our education up until a certain point in our life…how many on this forum know about the american revolution? I knew nothing about it until about 8 years ago lol. You only learn about the wars you win etc

Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of dumb fucking americans but there are a lot of dumb brits too
