We didn't HAVE to sack the manager.

We've built our way into the season. You know, the same way we did last season, and the season before that. When everyone was losing their minds because we hadn't spent the entire first half of the season at the top of the table.

I watch the team play every week, and they look like a talented group to me who can deliver quality performances. That hasn't always shown this season, but is becoming more of a standard.
Some bloke on the tinternet saying 'they look like a talented group to me' isn't really much evidence is it?
We've played poorly for the vast majority of the year. Lampard seems to have done things Robins couldn't, like playing more aggressively more as a team.
Partly due to playing the likes of Allen and Bidwell - who aren't new.

I'd wait a bit if I was you before talking about 'excellent signings'. We might be seeing more fight but we're not seeing much quality.
And Binks, BTA, JDS, Bassette, Collins have a way to go 😉

You can’t keep building your way into the season if you want to give yourselves the best chance of promotion. This season we had a great opportunity to hit the ground running and we didn’t take it. The harm was self inflicted and the manager didn’t act quickly enough to correct the route cause of the problem.

I'd rather keep Bassette tbh - yes BTA's in a tiny bit of form but he's a headless chicken & his finishing's woeful - much rather develop Norm
What has Bassette actually done?

He is a below average Championship striker, surely? A cult figure here based on a bit of shithousery.

BTA’s finishing is no more woeful than Bassette’s if you look at them dispassionately.

To be fair, the Championship is a better than level than every other 2nd level league in the world.

And Wright has been getting into the US team whilst he's been here.
Poor choice of words from me, by secondary leagues I meant not the traditional big leagues.

Haji is one of a pretty big group of attackers around the same level for the US team. He's going to be desperate to give himself the best shot. On my count they have called up around 16 forward players in the last few years, out of that list 7 have had more caps than him. He's in with a good shout but someone has got to miss out. I just hope he doesn't get twitchy

I'm still dumbfounded by how good a signing this is going to be. No pressure on the lad, but when you've been consistently one of the best midfielders in the championship for as long as he has, and we get you for £3-4m at 29 years of age - that is unbelievable business.
Just a shame he isn’t 1 or 2 years younger so we’d see more of his prime, still absolutely buzzing I’ve wanted him in a cov shirt for years

Leeds and Sheffield Utd seem to be able sign and announce signing quickly. Perhaps Yorkshire hospitals are less busy? :ROFLMAO:
Sheff Utd don't appear to bother much negotiating fees. Plenty of money sloshing about so wages aren't an issue either May come back to bite them long term when they get promoted and realise what they've bought us well short of PL standard.

The last paragraph is just my opinion, I think there has always looked like there's something there with most of them, and there's some real talent emerging. I still think they are excellent signings, but respect your opinion - obviously. I'm pretty happy with my track record, I said we'd come good at the start of the 2023/24 season, and we did, I said it again at the start of the 24/25 season - same again. I said it again this year, and it's starting to look that way. Those last 2 seasons the overarching opinion was that we were doomed.

Have to agree with this, it's been the reason we didn't make the play-offs 2 years running, and good chance we won't again this year.

We’d all love to be top four all season but the fact is we’ve come closer starting slow than any other season. You can say it’s a bad idea but finishing strongly is often more important. See also out L1 promotion.

There have been a few rumblings in the press about how many of the US squad is playing in secondary leagues around the world, I'm not sure if this narratives coming from Poch or what but there is a risk agents might start pushing.
What is better, regular game time in a slightly lower league or sitting on the bench at a top club?
