Simple answer - yes. We finished 9th last season and improved the team, it’s definitely capable of competing for a playoff spot.

There are some gaps in the squad, which we’ve addressed by signing Grimes. A player or two by Monday 23:00 and we could be laughing.

The hyperbole over it was always ridiculous. Our recruitment generally has been very, very good.

I think we were lacking in a couple of areas, notably some experience & another midfielder, which we have hopefully solved now. You could argue we'd still ideally add another 1 or 2 but for Top 6 it's probably good enough now.

Looks like we lacked an elite coach

haven‘t said we don’t ?
Well im not entirely sure how luck has played any part in it , frank played 5 at Everton before when they had issues , he could have played sakamoto and asante wide and kept with a 4 but he chose to play the wingbacks , not just that but the players look a level ahead of where they've previously been at , they're fitter amd work harder .

It's not luck to lose 3 of your big performers and I'd argue we'd be even better with them In the team

Simply put yes. The squad talent wise is good enough. Not sure it’s been managed as needed for the young squad as they often need more one to one support.

Great work by Lampard and staff to get the confidence going again, took some time to work it out but looks to have cracked it.

Doug vindicated at the moment and fair play, doesn’t shy away from decisions. If it went to shit, he’d had to take the fall but as it is fair play.

Can’t wait for Grimes

by luck I mean if everyone was fit, I doubt that’s the team that Lampard would of picked for the last 5 games, the players who have come in have stepped up and been brilliant,

I'd agree with what you're saying if we were scraping games .. but really we are largely beating teams with relative ease

All it means is that the squad is good enough

Said in another thread, if Blackburn are 5th... yes we are a top 6 side. Comfortably actually.

All credit to Lampard but think we’ve got a bit lucky, wev‘e stumbled onto a team that works, players that have come in have stepped up, just hope trying to bring in grimes, Clarke , wright and sheaf doesn‘t upset things too much, not a bad problem to have though
Have we stumbled on it though ? The injuries obviously had an influence but FL and the coaching staff were responsible for switching things up and adopting different tactics. It didn't happen by accident

Someone has said that under Lampard we have averaged 1.85 PPG.Assuming that is correct, that would be 85 points for the entire season.
Top 6 form.
