Burnley with yet another 1-0 win (and that was an own goal) their 22nd clean sheet of the season so far

Mind numbingly boring but you have to doff your cap if it works for them in the end

This has got to be approaching some sort of record breaking territory by the way

They’ve played 31, kept 22 clean sheets and conceded one goal on the other nine occasions

Mourinho’s first Chelsea team only let in 15 goals but they only played 38 matches

Our fans always try to put others down

Burnley amazing clean sheet record=boring

Southampton tiki taka = boring

If it was us you wouldn't hear the same judgements from our own fans

To be fair, the Burnley fans did join in with the Pompey fans in a rendition of Boring, boring Burnley during their last game (0-0)

I know a Burnley season ticket holder through work, barely goes as there are so few goals. He said it's night and day compared to the promotion season under Kompany.

Maybe. But Southampton most certainly were not boring unless you are mike basset
I remember going on the Saints forum before they played us (and subsequently went on a brilliant run) and a load wanted Martin out.

Maybe it's because they're more used to 'success', but wouldn't we just be happy to be getting points irrespective of how we got them?

Proper tiki-taka is, though.

That Spain side that hoovered up all the trophies 15 or so years ago; god, it was horrible watching them. They were so, so good, and so, so boring. Death by 1,000 cuts.

By contrast the Spain side that won the Euros were magnificently entertaining.

Southampton are on less than 10 points having stuck to their AAATB nonsense despite not having the quality to pull it off. They got away with it last season by having strong players relative to the level.

You also don’t get the problem people have with it. We don’t want hoof ball Big Sam style, but we do want the ball progressed at a higher speed which is the whole point of playing out from the back. If you resort to triangles in your own 6 yard box it’s gone wrong, likewise if you pass it sideways and allow the opposition to get set in place.

If you just sit in front of Burnley for 90 minutes and don’t leave your positions nothing will happen.

They got promoted with it and that's the season I'm refering too

I thought they played some really nice stuff personally

I found them boring, though I'm probably more Mike Bassett than Pep. I think their tactic last year was to bore the opposition into making a mistake. One of the reasons why I prefer the Championship over the PL. Apart from the odd team, we don't get it.

Just last night's game, Boro vs Sunderland was better than any Southampton or Burnley game (small sample I'll admit).

I'm really not sure what u mean. I'm not after an argument. I am accepting some find Russel Martin and Spain tactics boring. I am saying they clearly see the game very differently to me.

Think it’s fair to say at times their play can be unbelievable due to the speed and intricacy of a move. By and large, though, it’s passing for passing’s sake with no individuality.

Look at Grealish at Man City. It’s killed him. No beating a player; if you don’t have an opening just pass to your full back. Fucking painful.

Nobody objects to the ball being passed. Just want to see it done with more tempo and purpose
Yeh you do

But I have no issue with slow tempo passing. Opposition find it annoying as never see ball but I have no issue with my side doing it

This is why I don't sigh and tut when CBS pass it between themselves etc

Sometimes you have to go backwards too

If you never go forward that's an issue but clearly not one Southampton had in the promotion season

As an individual you can say he's not as exciting but as a club pep guardiola has played some of the best football in my lifetime.
