What's the rule? (10 Viewers)

When their goal was given offside we went to play a quick one from the free kick while their players were fucking about but the ref made us wait until all of their players were back.

What's the rule on this now?

Officials were horrendous tonight. Not that it would have made any difference.

Yes I think so, with the delay in ruling it out it appeared to everyone the goal had been given, so in that respect they had every right to celebrate the goal.

Where is the rule that says you can celebrate a goal and be allowed to get back before it’s given? Too much of this. Same as stopping the game so a player can do their shoelaces or have a lie down. Yet they were allowed to take quick free kicks all game.

Because most of the Leeds team were celebrating the goal that appeared to have stood.

Sometimes a bit of common sense is required; that's why the referee always has discretion.

It was never given. There’s nothing that says everyone has to be paying attention FFS that’s on them.

good question actually, also when did they bin off yellow cards for playing on after you know a foul/offside has been given

james "scored" after he clearly knew the ref had stopped the game and earlier in the season that was a yellow yet nothing was even said to james

Come on

Every team would have started celebrating that goal

What the referee did was the fairest way to officiate the situation.

Where the rule that says you’re allowed the entire team to have a cuddle before a goal is given? They celebrated despite it not being given. That’s on them. It was blatantly offside.

The goal wasn't given. The ref didn't point to the centre circle did he?

I can't see what rules there are to say we couldn't take that quickly (not that we would have scored 🤣)

LOTG allows him to do that, so the decision is correct.

Decision can only be wrong if it's not within the LOTG.
Which law of the game? If you want to try that loophole then refs can do anything they want and say "it's in the spirit of the game" and using your logic, be correct.

The whole idea of a quick free kick is to do it when the other team isn't switched on.
That's fine when the defending team is out of position due to good attacking play (eg. when a cycnical foul stops a counter) but for situations like this it seems obvious to me that it is only fair to allow the team to get back in position.
