Never getting anything out of that?

Leyton Orient gave Man City a better game than we just gave Ipswich's reserves

It's okay to call out pathetic performances from players who were awful
Did you not see the starting 11 Surely you’re not surprised by that result ? We had our reserves out as well ?

We have 5 games in 15 days, the likes of MVE would be dead on their feet if they didn’t get a rest.

Probably should have tried to sign capable cover then. He could get injured on Tuesday too.

Thing is when you pick that team you say you don’t give a shit and it rubs off on the players. I don’t like getting into that mentality no matter how much people hate the cup. Try and win every game and see where it takes you.

Does it rub off on the players though. Surely no player worth anything would think them being picked suggests the manager doesn’t give a shit. You back your own ability.

Six goals conceded this week, and all of them terrible. I would say it was league one defending, but I saw the Orient game earlier and their defence was much better than that.

The reason Bobby Thomas spent half the game stepping into midfield is because our shape was wrong again. The back 5 has been the wrong choice two games in a row now, what exactly is an extra defender adding? It certainly isn’t defensive solidity.

Of course it does. If the boss says he doesn’t give a fuck when do you? Nothing to do with ability.

Can everyone just relax, 😂 we’ve lost the last 2 to the best side in the league and we’ve put our reserves out today, no need to go mental, we’re 4 points off the play offs with shit players apparantley ?

Up until a few weeks ago the consensus was the defence was just not good enough. Then dovin came back in goal and we kept a few clean sheets. Today just confirms that whatever combination (players or formation) we play at the back we struggle against any pace. Defenders not strong enough, not positionally aware and not playing as a unit. Need a whole new back line on the summer

I'm moving on with the rest of my day.
My overall thoughts are:
Leeds are a demonstratably dominant team this year in the second division (though heard they lost their Cup tie today??), and even a suffering PL team like Ipswich can bring loads of talent off the bench to punish an average second division team. Losing these two games is not the end all be all. Just shows a stark difference of how we can man up and do well against half (most?) opponents within the Championship, and how better teams can truly and cruelly punish our own mistakes. I don't think there's much more to read-into other than that.
Setup and lineup today just didn't look like it was going to work out, and it didn't. Two tough-ask games back to back and a third approaching with minimal downtime in between is a rough expectation for Frank and the players. Plenty of individual mistakes made today by certain players, true. Plenty of opportunities given to our own bench players that they simply couldn't rise to on this occassion.

Happy pleasant weekend to you all, go and have fun with your friends, family, dogs, etc.

Goal 1 - Allen gives it away in the middle, Thomas tries to cut out a pass he's never getting to instead of tracking the runner, Kitching barges over Szmodics because he's the wrong side.

Goal 2 - Eccles and Lati both decide to try and cut off passing lanes instead of going to Clarke WHO HAS THE BALL IN OUR PENALTY AREA.

Goal 3 - Binks tries to play a 30 yard pass along the ground while under pressure. Misses his target. Thomas is jogging upfield while Binks is under pressure, rather than sensing any potential danger. Two passes and they score.

Goal 4 - Lati somehow misses a 5 yard pass to Allen, gives it straight to an Ipswich player, two passes and they score with no defender within 10 yards of Philogene.

What a shambles.

As dreadful as it was to watch for the last two matches, least there both done and can focus on the league.

QPR is a good test to see if the wins were a purple patch or not

Fuck me even by your standards this is nonsense

I can’t remember who said it, but we should never have agreed to play Leeds midweek. I can’t imagine Man City would have.

If anyone can get full highlights, watch how high our defence started at KO. 10-15 yards maximum from the centre. When Ipswich had kick off.

Omg they’re baring down on goal inside the first 20 seconds, how did that happen?!

Honestly dont think Lampard was bothered about today. Even his subs were baffling when we are chasing a game. Neither Aante or Bassete are good enough for a loan striker

It’s an obvious deficiency but apparently if you point it out you want us to lose

Bassette is just fucking shite, the early signs of promise seem a long long time ago

You have to wonder what on earth was the thinking when we signed him

The subs were very obviously pre planned to rest Rudoni and BTA who are likely playing on Tuesday. It was treated like a training session basically.

Sorry Frank, your team selection was dreadful, this is on you and you alone. It was crying out for Simms and Basette. If you want to leave Milan out, you okay Burroughs.Nit good enough, I groaned when you named that team and said " we are going to get thrashed". Not fair on the fans, absolute embarrassment
