To be fair there isn't any particular skill to being a football commentator, I doubt there are many that were always intended to be one
What a great moment that Forest winner was, not spoken of that much but a really pivotal moment imo
It’s easy until you try

It was so odd to listen to especially the bit about pusb when he said it loads of times . It was like the Rob gurney show someone did message in saying more about the football and less about you . Oggy just sat there in silence .

He didn't seem right, he was getting a lot of stick though, the after match show seemed all about him, he hardly mentioned the game and before the game he was going off about the JCBs in the entrance . It was all very bizarre

I listened to the phone in for the first time in years yesterday. Gurney ruins it, sorry to say. People call him out for his negativity and then it snowballs with him doubling down on "calling it as it is". It becomes Gurney v Text messages then. It's boring and awkward.

He sounded like Alan Partridge post match. I thought it was fairly entertaining though, and he did talk about the football, just maybe should have less banter about stick he's getting and leave more space for Oggy to talk CCFC

Agree on above. I knows hes had some struggles and doesnt sound in greatest of spots.

Love the phone in as a guilty pleasure for the wild comments and views but hes really making it hard listen.

Rob said on air at one point someone was directly messaging him abuse which really isn't on at all.

Genuinely hope he's doing alright. The phone in after the game seemed like a vicious cycle of him commenting on criticism sent to him, and then having to comment on the other listeners responding to what he'd already said

But that's what its been for years. People used to moan about Eakin and before him Linnell not just nodding along and agreeing that whatever owner / manager / coach / player we're currently having a pile on.

tbh as soon as the first caller opens their mouth that's usually the time I reach for the off button.

It's different with Gurney. He takes everything very personally when he should just move on. Too much time spent defending his views. That's fine if you are with a group of mates down the pub but a couple of thousand people listening in, dont want to hear it. Just move on.

It isn't the same at all. Its all pretty odd and a bit like you are a voyeur into someone on the verge of a breakdown. He needs removing for his own good.

Some of the texters and callers don't exactly cover themselves in glory either.

Never usually listen to CWR post-match but it was very strange listening. Big substitute teacher energy from Gurney. Needs to chill out and let Oggy and the callers do the talking.

Love the bit at the end of the show when he reads out someone’s text and it says two sky blues legends meaning Clive and Oggy and Rob says don’t you mean three Rob as well . It was making me laugh .

The points he was making were fine you have to be balanced. I think he just lost it a bit and kept reading the texts all about the issue of him laughing or being negative.

Fine address it once and defend yourself but to keep going on about it…think oggy felt awkward which made a weird atmosphere.

Unfortunately people who just want to slag him off will message in just as they used to about Clive but just don’t read them no one will know and most listeners would rather hear discussion about the match.

Think people need to lay off rob tbh , had some time off with his mental health before , obviously reading the overly negative posts about him somewhere

He is a city fan and passionate , he cares and that's a good thing

He's also being paid to do a job, city fan or not and the last few weeks he has been ruining it. I've only caught it a handful of times so can't comment what it was like towards the start of the season.

Maybe stop listening ?
As with others if you don't like him why listen ?

As I said on the other thread, I only usually put it on during the walk home to hear the interviews and have caught his meltdowns the last couple of games.

"Dont listen then " "He's a cov fan" doesn't really get away from the fact that he's been ruining it by trying to make things all about him.

I wish no ill on him, if anything he probably needs a rest from it or should let Clive read out the messages for a couple of weeks or have them vetted.

He didn't ruin anything for me ?

I like the after match analysis and phone ins and like to listen the the manager and player interviews. I don't want to listen to Gurney droning on. All this give a cuddle shit too. I don't want to switch it off I want to listen about the game not about JCBs in the foyer before the match and Gurneys heavy breathing.

Did you not hear him last night. Everyone who said something nice about him he said ahhh, give us a cuddle thanks your so kind🤮 like other posters are saying the whole after match seemed dedicated to him

Probably struggles with the negativity thrown at him ? ?

If fans weren't so negative about the slightest thing , it wouldn't have gone the way it did
