Play off season we were on 52 points from 35 (18 more points from last 11) Made play offs with 70
Last season 51 (where we were heading for play offs until post FA cup) - (13 points from last 11) Would have needed 73

suggests we need to be on or around 50 points following these games - another 9 points

Leeds H
QPR H
Sheff W A
Preston H
Oxford A

Some tough games in there and if we can get 9+with probably a total of 70 being enough this year it is still on
3/4 points from next 2
3 points from 2 away games
Preston - hoodoo needs to be broken

If we're serious about play-offs, we need to continue to put our foot down and rack up point while we're running hot. I'd say we need 10+ from these 5 to put ourselves in a strong position ahead of playing some top sides in March, where I expect a drop off in points collected. I won't be at all mad if we tail off a bit, it's a very tough league and we've given ourselves a lot to do. Finally enjoying the season! Can't wait for tonight let's enjoy the ride PUSB

TBH, I'm only really concerned about tonight. The others are beatable. Even Preston.

I can see 10 points from these. I'm very wary of the QPR game weirdly, just as they have a nice long rest while we still have to play Leeds and Ipswich before then.

Don't mind us falling short as long as we make a fist of it.

I can see us getting something tonight and then putting the QPR nonces to the sword at the weekend.

1-1 then 2-1, followed by a L at Sheffield.

We play Ipswich at the weekend...

If you want playoffs you should be beating QPR and Preston at home.

Then take a win from either Sheff or Oxford game...

9 points from those 5 with any added bonus from tonight and i think we are still in touch

Think we really need 10+ from the next 5 as the next block of 5 includes Sunderland, Sheff U, and Burnley so would be good to create a buffer before those games.

If we're within 3 points after the Burnley game I think we'll do it

Not to bothered about that, the extra games could work in our favour. They'll be rusty

Leeds are the only team to fear there.

3 wins, draw and a loss certainly possible.

I feel like we’re in a nice position. No expectations now really, but still have a chance at it. Getting anything out of tonight would be quality.

Agree....let's hope we continue to evolve. Those two games will gives us a good indication of what stage of development we are in comparison.

Realistically we’ve started to slowly to get to the play offs. I don’t think we have the consistency to make up that bit of ground and stay there. The Leeds game was a reality check in a way.

Realistically the squad is too small and too low quality for a sustained push all season. The starting slowly thing has become a bit of a meme but we got to the PO final starting slowly and had our worst finish since the first season up starting quickly so I’m not sure it tracks tbh.

we do have Grimes/ Sheaf/ Wright/ EMC to come in to that team and per Lampard are 1-2 weeks away
If we can get the 2023 Sheaf and the 2025 EMC a line up of
Dovin
MVE Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Sheaf Grimes
EMC Rudoni Wright
Simms

should be enough to at least make a fist of it

Swap EMC and Wright maybe. EMC cannot play on the right to save his life.

I think we've got a good chance of making it. We're coming into form, our decent run hasn't been because we've been red hot. It's because the defence has got a bit better and our keeper doesn't let 30 yard opportunistic shots go in. With the players we have to come back I only see us getting stronger.

A bit of a dip this week is the perfect time for it. Leeds was always going to be tough with their form and we really don't need to beat Ipswich. Chance to dip, then go again in the league.

Agree - we're in danger of trying to fit our best players in rather than the best team, a bit like England in the Euros. Unfortunately our two best players of the season so far play in the same position. I think Wright could be more adaptable of the two, but I'd be more inclined to play him through the middle than on the right and I think someone like Sakamoto would offer more balance.

I'd be inclined to try Milan on the right of a back 3 instead of wing back and have him right, Kitching left and Thomas in the middle. Most teams only play with a couple at most up top. It would be quite attacking but with two defensively minded MF in Sheaf and Grimes, try 3241 instead of 433 and get Torp into that team too, at the expense of a LB.

Dovin
MVE, Kitching, Thomas
Sheaf, Grimes
Sakamoto, Torp, Rudoni, EMC
Wright

On track.

Yes and 70 points should be enough this season it seems.

One more point or a better goal difference than whoever finishes 7th does it. 😁
