This is just for fun. The table I think will finishe like this:

Top 6
LEEDS
BURNLEY
SHEFF.UTD
SUNDERLAND
COVENTRY
WEST.BROM

Relegated
OXFORD
PLYMOUTH
LUTON

To think Luton stopped us from going up is just so annoying as we would have made a much better fist of it.
BTW that will be very tough play-off's.

Would love to catch Sunderland but can't see it. They look to have a favourable run in too.

Leeds and Sheffield United top 2.

0-0 specialists Burnley in 3rd.

3rd and 4th Sunderland and ourselves. Can't see Sunderland going up. They lost 2 key players to long injuries in their home defeat to Hull. Add to this they haven't been playing well for weeks. Good chance we will go past them for 4th but it doesn't matter.

6th? Not a clue. Any side from Middlesbrough upwards. The side that manages to put a winning run together. They've all been inconsistent. That's how we caught up and went past nearly all of them so quickly.

Bottom 3? Who cares.

Considering how poorly we started the season, making the playoffs would be quite an achievement. After consecutive seasons of upward progress, we took a step back last season. Initially we attributed it to the cup run, but the way this season went after a third of the games were played, honestly playoffs seemed a pipe dream. I’m buzzing to be where we are and like FL’s demeanor in not wanting to get carried away. Just have to keep winning, putting together better performances and push ourselves into the playoffs on a hot streak. Then anything can happen as long as we believe in ourselves and play to our strengths.

Not, unfortunately.

It's brilliant to get where we have now, but we now have to maintain this run at this level and I just don't think we have enough.

If we lose MVE or Bidwell to injury or suspension, it's going to really hurt us I feel.

I honestly think we are just going to fall short, unfortunately.

Shame. A few more points in the bag and we could afford a slip up or two, but now I think we will have to continue the run we are on.

Got some tough games coming up and I do think we will slip up somewhere along the line, especially with a club scrambling for points at the bottom.. Happens every year with clubs.

Hope I'm wrong. If we do continue as we have, then the employing of Lampard, is going to a look a genius move.

Can we keep up to this level for a other 12 games? Unfortunately, I say no.

I think it will be lack of depth in key roles that will hurt us.

We need to keep MVE, Thomas, Kitching and Bidwell, injury and suspension free until the end of the season, otherwise we are going to have problems. Not sure we are going to be able to do that.

We have much better cover elsewhere in the team now, but are very thin in the defence department.

It’s a bit random, but a Chelsea website posted the following. In short, an Opta ‘super computer’ reckons we’re most likely to end the season in 5th place.

Yes this is slightly flawed the computer predicts the most likely place you will end up in and it is correct it puts us as 6th, however it doesn't then take into account the most likely place it has predicted other teams will finish in and has blackburn and west brom both predicted as finishing 5th. So not such a super super computer after all

Yes but again flawed as if you look at the points column it has west brom coventry and blackburn all on 68 points and doesn't seem to take xgd into account

Agreed! Super computers will always have a flawed methodology because it relies on the inputs. If it’s predicting us to finish on 68 points, why does it expect us to slow down our run rate to 1.5 PPG for the remainder of the season?

Probably because our PPG for the season is 1.47 which includes the pre-Lampard results. Lampard’s PPG is 1.94 and using that formula for the remaining 12 games would give us 23 points and a final tally of 73 points.

Either way, the outlook looks really positive for us!

I think we’ll fall just short, unfortunately. The poor start to the season will end up fooking us over.

I think I agree. Can really see it being super close between 3 or 4 teams on the final day. I think we may just miss out by a point or GD.

I’d obviously love us to make playoffs and hope we do but I’m in the not sure camp. We’ve been on a helluva run but can we keep it going?

The good run though has coincided with our 2 best players out
With them and mason clark coming back I’m filled with optimism

I think we will fall just short...... as a couple have said above, i think its too much of a stretch to continue the required form for the rest of the season.

I'm the other way. We've made up for the poor start with this phenomenal run of 7 wins in 8, closing up 12 points on Blackburn and 9 on West Brom in little over a month so that we're now borderline level.

Wipe the slate clean and consider this a mini 12 game season. We're the form team, have our best players back, and the confidence is flooding through the team.

Famous last words of course but I'm really confident of making top 6.

20 points from 12 to get to 70 (looks like that sort of number will be enough). 6 wins 2 draws, 4 defeats. A stretch? 1.67 ppg. Overall under Lampard we're on 1.94 and that includes the very moderate start to his tenure. And most of it achieved without Grimes, EMC and Sheaf, and all of it without Wright.

I'm going to need counselling if we don't make it because I've never been more sure of anything in my life.

We've got an excellent chance but I don't think we'll be able to keep this run of form going. No doubt a vocal minority will push a narrative that Lampard has failed if we don't make the play-offs.

It's been some run.

Since snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Norwich on the 4th January we've only had 1 hiccup along the way. That was against Leeds. Glad we went out of the FA cup against Ipswich. No extra games to interfere with a bit if rest time or risking injuries. Beat Oxford, who have only had 2 shots on target combined in their last 4 games and we'd be on a 2 month run of beating everyone except for the best Championship team by far and a a Prem side.

Games in March

Oxford A
Stoke H
Derby A
Sunderland H
Sheffield United A

Other than Sheffield United that's not a bad run of games. Sunderland lost 2 massive players in their defeat at home to Hull in their last game. They were not playing that well before the injuries. 10 points from them 5 games should see us making a gap between us and 7th. Don't want to be too greedy.

If there was any consistency in any of those around and below us I would be worried about making the top 6. But ATM it's difficult to see any side capable of going on a run other than ourselves.

Yes i think it is a stretch, and just a little too far. Hope to be proved wrong.

Not that we aren't capable.... but given some of the games coming up, i suspect there is little margin for error in the other "winnable" games.

I think we will get in top 6 comfortably now as such depth in squad and our defence as weakest part is being brilliantly covered by Dovin.
Getting through the playoffs is the bit that is impossible to predict.

we need to start involving the academy/youth players towards the end minutes of game for this reason, if we lose bidwell/MVE for those reasons id like to think that youth players could drop right into their roles, i assume theres some form of mentoring going on behind the scenes too.

We don't need to keep this form going. The form we're in has taken us from a couple of points outside the bottom 3 to 7th in 8 games. It shows the poor form of every side we have caught up with and gone past. There's a good chance that if we beat Oxford we will be 2 points clear of 7th. All it needs is for Leeds to win yet again. Or Norwich to beat Blackburn. If both happened we would jump above both WBA and Blackburn into 5th by 2 points.

Then we play Stoke and Derby.

We'll lose one of the next three matches, against the form book. And more than likely produce a win against Burnley or Sheffield United.

We’ve definitely emerged as the form team in the pack and arguably have the easiest run in because our away fixtures are potentially kind.

All the teams around us have been inconsistent and the current incumbents (WBA and Blackburn) are looking shaky. WBA have the toughest run in of everyone and I don’t fancy them to finish strongly, they have Leeds, Burnley, Sheff U, Bristol and ourselves away which is a brutal travelling schedule. Blackburn have the easiest run in overall but they’re going through a change of management which isn’t ideal.

5th and 6th are up for grabs and we ought to be favourites as things stand. For me, Norwich will join us because they have star quality in their team and frankly, I’d want to avoid them in their playoffs.

That's a no from me unless we're hammering someone or we have an injury crisis.

Can you imagine the shite Lampard would get if he did it and it cost us a victory or even a point? We're at the business part of the season. We need to play our strongest side each game. We're on a small run of 1 game a week until we play Derby midweek. After that we play Sunderland so 3 games in a week. But then we have a 2 week break before we play Sheffield United.
