In my time of watching football the only time there is a must win fixture is the last game of the season. Even then you often only need a draw.
Unless with two games to go you're six points behind. Or three games and nine points...

Wonder if it’s gonna flip the other way round - Lampard broke the curses against PNE and Swansea, but will lose to Sunderland
Well he didn’t beat Derby who we haven’t beat in some time.

Drop Wright and Bidwell, bring Binks/Da Silva and EMC. Drop Eccles for Allen.

You need to rethink that concept. It's only the last game that matters
But the fact is if you're six points adrift with two games to go at that point the following game is 'must win' if you are to retain any chance of achieving what you want.

Otherwise the only 'must win' game would be last game of the season against the only other team who can take the spot away from you and who are one or two points ahead of you (possibly three depending on goal difference).

And that is of course ignoring the knock-out cup games.

Still remember losing 4-0 to Stoke and thinking our play offs were over that year. No reason why Derby can’t be the same.
We have already lost more games this season (as of Tuesday night) than the PO season.
We went on a steady run, losing only once in 18 games.
Other teams - Blackburn in particular, were falling over themselves to f**I it up for themselves. (Conceding to Wilson, and A Dom Hyam OG in a single goal defeat)
We spent 6 calendar days in the playoff places, finishing 5th!... A run from literally nowhere!

We have more points and more wins at this stage than the play off season.

After 37 games, this is the best position we’ve been in since 2002

Has our situationship with Sunderland died off? Or have we gone soft

Isn't the usual hatred I have become accustomed to on a CCFC v Sunderland matchday thread :ROFLMAO:

Fancy a draw tonight between Bristol and Norwich

Means we’ll have to get a point to guarantee top six international break

fancy a score draw

How about how the gap has shrunk in the last 11 games? Or how they recently lost their best player to injury a few games ago with another player in the same game who was a 1st teamer?

Le Fee has been on loan from Roma since January. They paid €23m for him last summer.

I'd be gobsmacked if we win but delighted

Last 9 games in previous seasons -

2023-24 - 7 points
2022-23 - 16 points
2021-22 - 10 points
2020-21 - 16 points

There’s obviously mitigating factors, how many points were we off playoffs in the end? 9?

We all just need to relax and take a breath. We’re not going to win every single game and the important thing now is getting back in the points this weekend.

Completely agree. Team needs to show spirit after Derby, us fans need to back them to the hilt and hopefully we can send the Mackems back up north with their tail between their legs and nil point

Yup, 9 off. 16 points last season with a GD swing would have been good enough for 6th.

It's up for grabs now...

All available seating seems to be open now. Sunderland will fill all their seats, unlike Stoke who seemed to be about 500 short to me. Weather looks ok.
