Having some friendly banter with a mate who supports Man City, he was at the QPR game at The Etihad when they clinched the title last season and says the atmosphere and emotions were unlike any other, now I know the 1987 Final will live long in the memory for most of us but what other matches, home/away, past/present have you attended that had that spine tingling feeling?

For me it would either be a big team at home game or something special away so I will go for when we stuck 5 past Liverpool at home with Quinny scoring a couple and the away FA Cup win at Villa.

Yeah Man Utd away was pretty good and Villa in the cup was pretty special as well, but I seem to remember Leeds Away 00-01, they were still in Europe and they ended up beating us 0-1 I think but City fans were loud and proud and there fans weren't bad either.. Couldn't hear myself when they were singing Marching On Together..

Last day at Highfield Road! Not just at the match but the buzz around Cov on the whole day! Amazing!

Yeah I agree with that.. I wish we had never left!

You'll have to forgive me if my memory is bad but one of my favourites was against Leicester at filbert street, Fa Cup I think. We took the lead early on, then someone got sent off Boatang I think. They missed a penalty at the end of the first half, They laid seige to our goal from the moment we went down to 10 men, we scored twice at the death to win 3-0, Telfer perhaps, Whelan? Never has a 3-0 game been so nail biting and tense.

The Atmosphere at the end of the last JPT game was pretty special, certainly my favourite Ricoh moment.

Yeah I did say that Preston at Home was probably one of the best moments at the Ricoh, I hope we can generate that atmosphere against Crewe!

Sheff Wednesday.. 87 1/4finals... Unbelievable 15000 City as I recall Leppings Lane...(there but for the grace of god.... 2 years later)
Boxing day 90's... we beat Villa.. Quinny double (as I recall)... Merry Christmas indeed:D

Whelan.. what a goal... "Whelan Whelan Whelan....".. what a talent...

1987 FA Cup Final and the day after in Cov cannot be beaten but;

Birmingham away in the FA Cup till they came back and won 3-2, West Brom away lost 5-0 (the twist and shout match), this season MK Dons away and Preston home both 3-2. Leacester away in the 70's when we won 2-1 with 4 pens in the match. M69 was full of Cars with Cov scarves hanging out of them. Attendance 19000 must have been more Cov than Leicester. Bristol City home 1977 2-2 until the last 10 mins which were pretty stale.

They will come, I think alot of the dislike for the Ricoh is just because us being there has coincided with a real shit period in our clubs history. I'm hopeful that there is a couple more special moments left to make this season.

Wouldn't of those years been so dull without the likes of Micky and Speedo?

White Heart Lane, final day of the season, 1997. Nerves, excitement, trepidation, hope.

was going to say exactly the same!!! Liverpool 3-0 was great back in the day, 3-2 man utd, villa in the cup then the league, preston in the JPT, Gillingham last game of the season watching Shaw score a cracker but Derby at HR was the greatest memory for me as it was the perfect way to end the era.

I was lucky enough to have gone to Wembley in 87 but apart from that one of the most memorable was away to Wimbledon, Vinny Jones and all, when they were playing at Palace's ground. We were fighting to stay in the top flight on a beautiful sunny afternoon and I remember sitting on the grass outside the ground with my 8 year old son decked out in his full kit, counting all the Coventry coaches that were arriving at the ground. We completely took over one side of the ground I cant remember just how many thousand were there but I will never forget the amazing atmosphere...and we won.

3-2 against United at a drenched Highfield Road, Huckerby's mazy run and a little block off by Whelan and then Huckerby's slides it past Schmiechel.. Highfield Road was unreal after that :)

7000 were at Selhurst Park for that game. For pure adrenalin rushes the relegation escapes especially the one against Leicester in 69 with a last minute winner, Everton in 85 and Spurs in 97 were awesome, the low was the Villa and Charlton escapes in 92 and 08, I believe. Nothing though will top the memory of Man Utd, Stoke, Sheff Wed, Leeds and Wembley in 87 and the first game of the following season against Spurs and best of all the farewell to Highfield Road.

Some great moments BUT....do any of them compare with your first....bit like girlfriends and drugs.:guitar2:
Therefore for me it'll always be Cov 3 Wolves 1 (67) - no match at HR ever came close to this.....it had everything.....and more.

Yes... good shout... Nuddy got 2 I think?
I was there also.. I recall our fans being described in one of the tabloids as "Fanatical" after that showing..
I broke down close to the ground.... left the car.. called the RAC.. they met us after the game and low loaded us home.. got in about 12 midnight I think... didnt matter one jot..:p

West Brom away when we got hammered 5-0 was a good atmosphere, didn't stop singing Twist and Shot all game. I know it's easily done but the brummies looked very confused that day
