Fisher rejects Hoffman offer (9 Viewers)

Former Coventry City vice-chairman Gary Hoffman has come up with a sensational deal that would keep the Sky Blues playing at The Ricoh Arena – but he says it has been rejected out of hand by Sisu.

Hoffman, who has attempted to negotiate a number of deals to buy out the owners, is now offering to pay the Ricoh rent for the next three seasons and underwrite any compensation incurred if City pull out of their agreement to groundshare with Northampton Town.

In a exclusive interview with the Coventry Telegraph, he said: “I am as frustrated and heartbroken as any CCFC fan to see the club I support leaving my home town.

“The irony that I now live in Northampton very close to the NTFC Chairman is not lost on me. My kids know his kids well

“I go and see the Cobblers occasionally when the Sky Blues aren’t playing but I won’t go and watch Coventry play their home games in Northampton. It is just wrong.

“There is too much baggage and history and I know some of my own relationships with Sisu don’t help. It is a real personal regret if that has got in the way of progress. What a mess the whole thing is!

“Every party has said that if they could find a way for Coventry to play in Coventry they would. Otium, ACL, the Football League and, above all, the fans.

“In order to imagine a better future you have to forget some of the past. I would like to try to ‘unblock’ things, and I have a proposal. I have discussed with Tim Fisher and his immediate reply was “thanks but, no.” Emphatically no

“My proposal is this;

“I raise the money to pay the rent for the next three seasons. I assume £400k per season as that is the number speculated

“ Otium has to pay nothing towards it. They save the costs of the deal on Northampton (excluding any break clause costs which we would pay too)

“ ACL get their rent. The casino benefits, the hotel benefits. In fact everyone benefits. No losers

“I assume that the attendance at the Ricoh would be at least 5000 per game more than at Sixfields. This is undoubtedly conservative

“ So, 5000 @ at an average £15 per ticket for 25 games. £1.875m extra revenue. Otium can take half of this upside for trading purposes. The people who put the money up with me would take a return to cover financing and other costs. But kept to a reasonable sum. The rest should be invested in the Academy

“Forget the long term for the time being. If Otium want to build a new stadium that is up to them

“I am only interested in CCFC. Not making money. I wish I was not involved. But it is my club.

“I want Coventry to play in Coventry. It seems to me that this is in everyone’s interest. Otium, particularly will be financially better off and the club more attractive in the future

“I call on everyone to put the past behind them and end this heartbreak. What is there to lose?”

But SISU must leave the Ricoh. It isn't anything to do with trying to send ACL to the wall. We need the pie money. This is worth more than playing rent free again.

Where does it say Fisher rejected it? Is there a statement from him?

i guess hoffman paying rent = ACL lives,so maybe thats why he rejected

but still, how can football league sanction a ground share when it is now clearly not required.

stupid pussies

if this is for real.. then its a mighty offer .. and one which SISU could only turn down if there intentions are very deiffrent that which they portray publicly.

Believe me, I respect that offer. I also respect him a lot more than I did for the acceptance his personal relationships with SISU have got in the way, and the overtures to put the past behind them.

So he starts to 'win' me over a little.

The not quite such a simple message as it appears however, is, "the people who put the money up with me would take a return to cover financing and other costs".

So he doesn't seem to be offering to 'pay' as such?

Here is living proof that this is all about moving CCFC out of Coventry and never coming back. A total boycott i the only way forward, anyone who gives them a penny is complicit in the clubs relocation.

And don't forget, Gary Hoffman doesn't have parliamentary privilege!

Read what he's saying closely-he isn't actually paying this himself but proposing to collect it from other sources who he expects to be compensated out of gate receipts.

Well there are no guarantees that he will get the crowds to make a return, so I guess there is still a risk there.....

All Coventry fans should turn up at the Ricoh on the first game of the season.. To have more fans at the Ricoh rather than Northampton town would be a massive publicity stunt that would get the media more involved, we should keep doing this until something is changed.. The telegraph needs to twig on to this idea and someone needs to lead the way in organising it.

Acl should open the doors to all is fans and allow us to protest until something is changed.

Only Sisu could alienate 70% of it's customers, you couldn't make it up !

Oh and you are aware that the Football League have now confirmed that the new stadium does not need to be in the immediate Coventry area but anywhere in the North Warwickshire region.

Good for you, im sure you will be as broke as CCFC in no time at all.

You do come up with this guilt-trip shit on a regular basis, but this will make you indirectly twice as complicit as the hypothetical people you're slagging off.

SCAB. SCAB. BOO.

I imagine Fisher will keep quiet on this and not choose to post his response via the club webiste (as with his MP rant). The guy is a nasty piece of work, utter scum and clearly there isn't an ouce of decency in that fat belly of his. It appears that there is nothing that will sway him from his mater plan of driving us into oblivion. But why?!?!

The option is there! The Football League can't not act on this. Once the national media get hold of it, it will blow up once more and widespread demand and anger will go into overdrive. The pressure is on those geriatric fucks to actually do something for the good of football and for the fans, the people that matter. No doubt they will once again bend their own rules to get shafted by SISCUM.

In their pathetically weak statement last week, the Football League encouraged that all parties found a resolution which would allow us to play at the Ricoh. Well duh.....here it is. A 4th party who will take away the need for endless negotiations and ego-enhanced battles resulting in bitching through the media for the umpteenth time. Hoff has again offered to be the saviour and fair play to him although despite all of his financial clout it as always doesn't make the slightest of indents into that thick skull of Fish face. It won't be long before this guy gets death threats** He makes Ken Delieu look like a genius :jerkit:

**Not from me and I'm not encouraging such malice

I for one would believe Hoffman over Fisher 100 times out 100, if my life depended on it. He is nothing more than a fat, evil, stunned mongoose looking Pinnochio :blue:

Even though some people will abuse me, I have no doubt that SISU realise that Coventry is a busted hand so a new area with new fans and a new stadium is the end game. It wont stop TF trying to mug off the existing fans until it gets built and a number of those continuing to buy his spin.

Read what he's saying closely-he isn't actually paying this himself but proposing to collect it from other sources who he expects to be compensated out of gate receipts.

But we all know that it is CCFC suicide making us play in Northampton. I would say they will be lucky to have 1m turnover playing there.........very lucky indeed. Then they have to pay for playing there. The extra expenses. Where will our club shop be? Oh yes I forgot.......we have a barrow :thinking about:

This is much more than where we play. It is much more than ticket sales over the next 5 years or more......although would they keep us going that long?

They are used to taking over companies in distress. They are not used to having thousands of people watching their every move. They are not used to having MP's questioning what they are doing. I think they have bitten off much more than they can chew. We have some very knowledgeable fans (I may be Astute....not that astute though). We have very passionate fans. We won't let them walk all over us. We are not just a company to take over and asset strip, tossing the remainder away.

We are CCFC. Loud, proud and willing to do anything to save our club. :blue:
