Two spring to mind,
The disallowed goal by QPR at the Spion Kop end, a "rocket" which hit the goal stanchion and came back out everyone new it was a goal except the ref. Also a city player that got wound up so he kneed one of the opposite in the balls as they were walking off at half time, seem to remeber it being Brian Joicey but I could be wring.

winning 3-1 atAnfield in fa cup. Darren Huckerby . no one gave us a chance. actually may have been 3-0.

A young 65, but still Coventry through and through. Although I live in the North East now, I still go to home and away games. For the First time since 1959 I will not see a home game while playing in Northampton. I love Coventry and will always love MY TEAM.

I have one that will make all the older fans jealous. Walking up Ellys Road, ball under my arm one Sunday morning to join my mates to play our routine footie match before dinner, I passed a green Sunbeam Alpine sports car parked outside no 1, the boot was open and as I passed the one and only Ian Gibson came out the house, only God was higher than Gibbo, still the best Sky Blue ever. He smiled and winked so I threw the ball to him and he headed it back, I jabbered to him to come up the "rec" and have a kick about. Running up to my mates spluttering who I had just seen and not sure if they believed me until up he came, God, the King and stayed and played for ages, we were all like dogs with 3 dicks

Donal Murphy who laid out Birmingham City's Kenny Burns on half-time with the biggest kick in the knackers I ever witnessed. Burns was still laid out when the teams came back out for the second half.

And that disallowed goal was v Crystal Palace

3-2 win against West Ham semi final under the floodlights magical night.
Going In the "dugout" infront of the main stand, used to be a real treat as a kid.
Carrying a stool to the match to stand on the OLD SPION KOP
Mingling with the away fans outside the Sky Blue Stand.
Meeting with the lads in the Vauxhall Tavern
Wondering what colour hair Tommy English would have

I could go on all night, so many happy memories, i think i will bump this thread every so often.

The current plight feels like supporting a different team, it couldnt be more different from the Sky Blues i grew up with.

Remember clearing snow one year as a kid to get the game on can't remember team someone on here will . . Foest home 5-4 any any match tommy hutch played my hero

Do remember a neutral semi up here me n mates sneaked lpool arsenal bout 80/81
Plus first ever away game with my dad at anfield 2-2 in league cup lost replay at ous r peeeed down all nite as I recall
Oggys goal at hillsboro , bannisters goal at old trafford 88/89? Speedie going in goal millwall away funny , west brom away 82 quarter-final lost but great support , great days loads too many to mention I will say as a kid going match away from early 80s the older men always looked out for you seen you were ok said hi etc etc more chamaradry them days was a big family age didn't matter you were following cov that's all that matterd

  8. Cheering on the old main stand to give us a song...and even funnier when they did.
  9. The last game at Highfield Rd.
  10. Dennis Wise, Mick Quinn, David Speedie, Cyrille Regis, Oggy, Dave Bennett all give reasons to smile.

Just thought i would try and stir a bit of nostalgia.....

Ah, reading the pink post match I remember well. Another tradition that has sadly died.

A packed 36,000 Highfield Road for a mid week match against Bristol City.

I had recently move into the area at the time having been a committed Chelsea fan from boyhood. My allegiance changed overnight and has been Sky Blue ever since.

Who was it who scored and ran through the stand? must have been around 2000ish. that aleays brings a smile to my face. Also the Dublin goal when the keeper put the ball down for a kick....pure brilliance

Travelling to Anfield towards the end of the 1983/84 season to see us go down 5-0, but we outsang the kop for 90 minutes, and continued afterwards while awaiting the police escort out of the ground. I took a QPR supporter and a Man U supporter (our driver from London was a Red at the other end), and they both got into the vibe and jumped and sang with the SkyBlue mob, it was that infectious.

Watching the SkyBlues fly up the table in 1984 (I think) after the team was rebuilt with players bought dirt cheap from the lower divisions, many of whom went on to play in the Cup Final.

More of a mixed memory was getting up in the middle of the night in central London to catch the bus to Coventry in 1985 for a 10.30am kick-off on the last Sunday of the season needing to beat Everton by 4 goals to stay up. But all the fair-weather supporters turned up to fill Highfield Road and we didn't get in. Dejected, we went to the Transport Museum to fill in time, and at 12.30-ish were confronted by museum staff members running towards us shouting out "we did it!". It made the journey almost worth while, but how much better it would have been to have actually watched the game.

I bought it every week from "Mad Maurice" down at the station anyone remember him ? I still see him walking around Cheylesmore.

My first game in 1967

COVENTRY CITY v WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 1967
- a record crowd of 51,455 crammed into the ground.
The referee threatened to postpone the game if children continued to run on to the pitch

I was only 12 and went on the corporation bus with my mate.
Buses used to be at the bottom of the steps in the Spion Cop and take us back to Bedworth.

Video from that season but I only saw this match.

- Every time Dion did that silly arm in the air goal celebration, which in 97/98 felt like every game.

- Watching Le Bouef acting like a 2 yo because he had to wear our away kit. And get beat wearing it.

- Beating Chelsea at home prety much every year in the late 90s even when they started to splash the cash.

- Singing "You will be sacked in the morning" to Gregory in 1999.

- Watching Big Mo go on one of his maurading runs.

- Seeing Robbie Keane and Gary McAllister in sky blue, the two most talented players I have ever seen play for us.

So so so many more.

When we talk and read about these memories most took part at Highfield Road and until we can get some happenings at the Ricoh none at the Ricoh as a result it will always suffer, lets be honest the biggest thing there to date are a few dodgy Olympic matches, Take That and Rod Stewart. Had we beaten Chelski a few years ago that could have been something to hang our hats on. We now need memories at the Ricoh.

Away to Everton, last game of the season, when Dion needed 2goals to win the Golden Boot and Everton needed a better result than Bolton [I think] to stay up.

Bolton were 5-0 down within the first half and Everton were beating us, until with about 10 mins to go Dion scored and decided that he wanted the Golden Boot outright. He didn't get the goal, but I will never forget him pointing at his watch and reminding the ref to make sure that every last secon of injury time was played.

4-1 against the Vile

Huck against Man U

My lad [who was about 10 at the time] telling the patronising Cov Red who sat next to us in the East Stand that match "not to worry about it" when he looked so dejected about the loss.

1. Gibbo against Wolves in the 3-1 victory that clinched promoted to division one
2. The Hub hammering home a the goal against Colchester that won promotion to Division two
3. The League Cup Semi at HR when we were 2 down at half time, coming back to win 3-2, best game I ever saw at HR
4. Jim Blyth saving a pen in the last minute against Norwich in a 5-4 win
5. Tommy Hutchingson skinning every full back that came the HR, best Sky Blue I've ever seen
6. Colin Stein toothless grin, as he snared, kicked and basically frighted the shit out of opposing centre half's
7. Beating the great Bayern Munich at HR 2-1, the team that had Beckenbaur, Muller etc in it
8. Of course Houchin's flying header for our greatest hour
9. Ian Wallace best striker we ever had
10. Huckerby's wonder goal against ManU
11. Thumping Liverpool 4 - 0 nil with a team of rejects, Terry Gibson had blinders
12. Man U away in the league cup, 2 nil wow, 13k Cov fans going mental
13. Blackburn FA Cup 4-1, Adebola, what a goal
14. Recently Leon Clarke against Preston, that last 2 minute were the best ever at the Richoh

Got load more, shame there have not been many over the last few years....

Some memories of away matches 1968-onwards.
3-3 draw at Chelsea 1971 all the goals in the first half.
glaziers penalty save at derby in a 4-3 win 1970.
Ipswich away when winning 1-0 and the lights went out with 15 mins to go.we lost the rematch 2-0.
going to wolves 1971 over xmas only to find match was called off(pre local radio).
see the 3 degrees at Filbert street 1974 with next to nothing on.
shaking Bill Glaziers hand after his testimonial v England '66 team 1974.
seeing my schoolmate Andy Blair making his debut.
going to the ticket office to buy a ticket and finding Hutch behind the counter serving me.
the Norwich 5-4 match ,blyth pen save and wally's overhead kick.
running on the pitch after the Bristol city match 1977,
crying on the way home after losing 2-0 at West ham league cup 1981 semi
staying on sat night to watch cov 4 Liverpool 0 replayed on MOTD instead of taking a blonde bird out.
all the cup run 1987
the sunday in town 17/05/87
getting a phone call from Roy Barry thanking me for putting a This is your life book together for him last year when he was 70.

My overriding memory is always walking up Walsgrave Road from the Rose and Crown and then turning right into Swan Lane, the hairs would instantly go up on the back of your neck, the crowd would start to grow, you'd be looking up the street at the big Cov badge on the side of the East Stand and trying to look and see how many away coaches were parked up to see how many they had brought, then the buzz increasing when you had to mingle with the away fans and walking down past the away end and depending on who we were playing would depend on how much Old Bill were there, whether you had to be up on your toes just in case it went off or whether it was a "team" you knew wouldn't bring that many, then queuing up to get into the Terrace, trying to blag kids tickets (up until the age of about 24!!!), straight in the Terrace and regardless of where our tickets were for, we always stood up in the same spot about 2/3's of the way back in WT5 and again depending on the match depended on whether there was just 2 or 3 of us or 10 or 11 of us and THEN you finally got to kick off!!!!!!!!

THAT was what football was always about for me!!
