Russian Gun Dogs

Hi,

We're a Coventry band who are currently working hard to put Coventry on the map with our music. A rarity, but all 5 members of Russian Gun Dogs are City fans and have been season ticket holders since we were young'uns. Our drummer, during days of his ow austerity even became a programme seller just so he could watch his team.

Last season we were contacted about having an article in the PUSB matchday magazine, but the season went on and nothing came of it. Despite all that's going on, we still believed it a great honour to be in the matchday programme, even if our beloved club has been ripped away from our home town, so we chased it up again this season. This is the response we got:

Hi Guys, many thanks for your emailAs we discussed last year I would be really keen to support you guys as I have in PUSB with other local Coventry bands. Unfortunately after viewing some of your Social Media postings, at this time I personally don't think it would be appropriate to include you in the matchday programme due to the conflict in interest your public anti Sisu stance promotes.I hope you can understand the position and I appreciate that everyone is entitled to there own views and I would like to wish you all the best for the future success of Russian Gun Dogs and again thank you for your interest.Any problems please do not hesitate to contact me.

Well, we just thought we'd share with everyone our dissapointment with missing out, but we also wanted to express to everyone our full support of the Sky Blue Trust and the Keep Coventry In Coventry campaign. ACL have a lot to answer for, as do SISU. Coventry City need to be here in Coventry. We, as a City have been synonimous with two great cultures in the 20th and 21st century - Football and Music and both those arts should support each other.

It must be a pretty sparse programme if they won't include articles about anybody with an anti-sisu stance.

They couldn't give a shit about supporting a Coventry team playing in Coventry so why would they give a shit about supporting a Coventry band? Like the flags fiasco of last season they're doing a fine job of ensuring those questioning their position as owners are completely alienated and never won over. Another PR gaffe....

As I say, we're just disappointed. I guess we're just trying to highlight the change in times. Its not an injustice as such but it is a shame. Anyway, we're looking forward to engaging in this community.

Yet they would be perfectly happy to take money from fans critical of the owners?

SISU due to your anti Coventry City Football Club stance and lack of respect for its fans on Social media sites we don't think it is appropriate for you to be involved in our club.

That's a great idea. And would give you loads of publicity so it's a win win.

Well we managed to get lt pigeon to do it for the old ones. I couldn't believe how many of the young uns had never heard of lt pigeon! I guess I should move over and join the old ones!
It would be great to get something done for the young fans.
I also know these boys are very good and are building up a big following.

We want to support however we can. Its hard to write a football song without it being novelty... 3 Lions the only one to my mind that isn't! We're working on a way to do something though. We were on the Mainstage of Godiva with SisuOut on the singer's arm and are having our stages decked with sky blue ribbons.

Mark, we've got our single on itunes and spotify!

Were you the guys who played Godiva where one of the members of the band was sporting a SISU out wristband? If so much respect ;-)

Maybe a protest song rather than a football song as such. As good as 3 lions is I would still put it in novelty category.

Maybe something more subtle like "get out of our city".

RGD are one of many good Cov bands about who should be getting a bit more press than they deserve.

It's typical though, BBC don't like our football team!

We're willing to work with the Trust to see how we can raise the profile of our plight. Its not about Russian Gun Dogs its about our club playing football in our city for us and our children and its an honour to get involved and do what we can!
