I'm pretty sure that was the Man Utd match where I ended up in a Man Utd 'crocodile' of fans walking up Gulson Road with a few mates keeping quiet & anonymous and with our scarves hidden in our coats, we had a hard time convincing the copper to let us leave it to get the bus home when we got to the top of the road. Normally the away fans didn't get out straight away & we had plenty of time to get to the bus stop, but I guess this time they let the thugs out early in case they ripped the stadium up.

And yeah, flares were totally de rigueur! I don't think they were ever a trip hazard, but possibly offered more air resistance than a skinny cut.

Don't think those jeans were flares ,think they had their own name ,May have been something as simple as "Skinners".

Bloody memory !! Definitely had their own title though.

Weren't they "Oxford Bags"? Or am I thinking of something else? I was never a fashion guru! (Still not!) I loved the shot at the start of the clip, of a police car keeping an eye on things. A little mini with a flashing blue light! Turn those over in a heartbeat! :D

Bags were baggy trousers with turn ups, often in large checks.. yet another fashion crime by the youths of the 70's. I probably had a pair.

Then there were those 2 colour shiny trousers, the name of which I forget, often worn by skinhead types.

I think I just stuck to jeans after weaning myself of loons, another cotton flare trouser, usually in bright colours.

I used to love my loons! I thought I was Jack-the-Lad wearing them!

two tone trousers - or 'tonics' -you can still get them. they were sometime called 'staypress'., brouge(?) shoes with metal segments in the heel and toe, crombie coats, harrington jackets, ben sherman check shirt, red socks --- those were the days my friend!!!
