Stuff ACL and the council I'm fed up (1 Viewer)

I suspect I won't be popular for this but.....

Right Tim said that the eagle had flown, we've moved on and we weren't going back to the Ricoh. So how about we don't, ACL said that they can cope without us so let them Sisu are going to build us their own stadium. It's only three years (okay could be five) at Northampton but SISU are covering the costs of that so fans don't have to go into Sixfields if they don't want to. The team are doing well with limited support at Sixfields and would obviously get more support at

However this way we're not going to have to be beholden to anyone over F&B revenue or car parking or anything, the club would get all the revenues. Yes SISU would probably have ownership of the stadium and charge rent but is that any different from being at the Ricoh and ACL?

Also we can then stop talking about ACL and the bloody council.

So all we have to do is stay strong for a few years and we'll be back in or very near Coventry at our own stadium.

there Isn't a single ounce of proof that we will be back in "the Coventry area" ever again. There is also no proof that we wont be.

We are 34 miles from "home" and to never come back would cost our owners £1 million.

I think I see your point, James, there are a lot of posters on here who believe that Fisher is going to build them a nice new bijou ground complete with shops, bars and restaurants. So why are they continually banging on about the council and ACL?

They should be discussing things like the seating arrangements, or parking spaces or what pies will be on sale at their lovely new ground. Or where it is going to be will do for a starter.

So come on chaps, stop looking back, you have a wonderful future to look forward to, let's see some positive discussions.

1m (or whatever the figure be) they have repeatedly said they are content to fund and already budgeted for?
There isn't a single ounce of proof we won't come back to Coventry other than a FL assurance that they must of course, as they have stated they will not allow them to franchise it anywhere else and must return to Coventry?
Sepella has said to the MEP they fully intend to?
Whether you believe either of these is up to you but it's better 'proof' than just saying the opposite without support of any kind? Of course I'll retract this if you can show me anywhere that Fisher, SISU etc have actually said they will not return to Coventry?

There is more proof that we are coming back, I.e. a temporary ground share approved by FL, than we won't be coming back (ie pure speculation on fans forums).

I'm serious, ACL don't need us apparently so why as a club do we need them? Answers on a postcard please.

As supporters we should be enjoying the results that we've has this season so far even if we're NOPM supporters and not going anywhere near Sixfields. But as we're obviously not coming back to the Ricoh "that ship has sailed" and all that, we should all be pressuring Tim about our return to Coventry in the new stadium.

Sorry to rain on your parade but the answer is one word:
DEBT.

If we build a new stadium we have to borrow money or have new investors and, annoyingly, they expect to be paid back with interest. So most of the revenue streams go into servicing the debt. We also have to pay all the bills to maintain the stadium instead of letting the landlord do it. That is without mentioning the debt we have and will have added to in 3-5 years.
It is a crazy remedy. We would be far better off negotiating a low rent on the Ricoh.

My point was that there are clearly people who believe there is going to be one. So, can they go off and discuss the niceties of their new stadium between themselves and stop banging on about ACL and the council and boring everyone shitless.

a very small minority 100% believe that sisu will build a new ground

the sane majority just dont believe that they will never come back either, thats pure speculation from panickers

we could build new stadium, or buy ricoh, or sis u may cave in and just pay rent at ricoh again, loads of different scenarios could play out

but you knew that, your just wumming, but your not good at it little man.

No Tim has said that they will be able to sell off the surrounding land to finance it (a bit like Tesco and the Ricoh) and therefore shouldn't cost the earth. No need to add to the debt pile this way, plus if ACL were to get into trouble I'm sure Joy and SISU would swoop in and bring in AEG or whoever it was and manage that.

We will have hardly any fans left after 3 or even worse 5 years at Northampton.

As for the £1m fine. They dont have a good yrack record of paying what they owe.

In fact its the very reason we are in this mess with 1k fans.

Why wont we have any fans left in 3 or 5 years? Fans can say now they've had enough but they don't really go anywhere. Eventually something will spark the bug off and back they would come.
