It is a serious question and as usual gets no answer at all.

So please tell me how financially an individual tax payer would be worse of in the scenario you have described.

Effectively the only local tax is council tax. So in pound notes how is the tax payer worse off and by how much?

Effectively a proportion of all taxes ends up with local government, because they are funded by a combination of local taxes and central funds.

And you've got a serious answer, and you're disregarding it. The taxpayer would be worse off by the loss that the Council would incur by just giving up the stadium rather than selling it or redeveloping it for a (possible) alternative use.

Where do you think the £10m grant and the £14m money for the mortgage came from? IF CCC chucks away £24m, then to find that money requires either higher taxes or cuts elsewhere, doesn't it?

I can't see any on this earth that Shitzu will be returning to the Ricoh unless it is given to them absolutely free; and I would certainly not agree to that. So, they need now to show that have indeed moved on by producing plans for their new stadium and ACL need to start redevelopment of the Ricoh into a multi-purpose events arena. End of.

There is no evidence compass make more money, no evidence that very minor exhibitions generate significant revenue and if the best it can now boast is that it hosts large weddings the future is hardly very bright.

I take it you haven't really researched how much these weddings actually cost! They can often turn into many many thousands of pounds, indeed some can run into 100's of thousands! They are massive social events! It has been stated in several sources (this forum being just one) that compass has made larger profits since the club left (or do you not read the posts on here?). As for events, again it has been stated in multiple sources that events can generate huge returns. Had you done your research and not just trolled as per, you would know the rates sires such as the NEC charge to host events. Had you even taken just a moment to engage brain before you rant you would have found that for example the NEC gharge £150 m2. Take into calculation the size of the pitch which if the team didn't return would be subject to change of usage, you can vewry quickly see your naive assumption that the ricoh is to use an oft used bit nonsensical term white elephant is ridiculous. Do you know the measurements of the pitch G? Assuming the details I have are correct (and you are free to correct if you know better as you oft claim to do btw) the pitch dimensions are 105m x 68m.

Putting it in terms you might understand, if you do the sums, it comes to just over £1m per event. Appreciate there would be additional expenditure, but let's for sake of argument say it costs £30m to rejig for such purpose, at £1m per exhibition, even the most ill informed can see it wouldn't take many events to recoup this expenditure. Remember re design is a one-off cost, once paid for it is not needed again.

You also seem to not consider that any sizable venue like this should be able to attract larger sponsors than say a local pub, or childcare business. Again I assume you haven't done any research (certainly sisu will have done), but just for fun, take a look at the sponsors of say the O2 arena. Now again I may be well off, but I strongly suspect that the likes of Barclays, or Microsoft, or apple etc could afford to spend more on advertisement than said local pub. However Mr G., if you could prove a viable case for a local pub to spend multi-millions on a sponsorship deal, then i will happily admit I am wrong.

BTW, please feel free to show your working out for how much an exhibition could raise if you base it on £150 m2 on a floorspace of 105mx68m.
You seem to have fallen into a rather embarassing pool filled with your own inane comments. If you can find me any exhibition centre of the size of the ricoh in terms of floor space that relies on sponsorship from a local chip shop, pub or day care centre as the only sponsors, then be my guest.

I sense you have lived up to your moniker (grendel the troll from Beowulf), otherwise you wouldn't have consistently made such vacuous and inane comments on this matter on such a consistent basis!

Feel free to show your working out for the revenue potential per event for the use of floor space (based on NEC's own figures of £150m2 and a floor space of 105x68). Last time I saw it, it was just over £1m!

Remind me how much coventry city were paying to rent the arena per year again?

Still think you have a handle on things, or are you feeling just a tad like a complete fool?

Oh dear psgm1 has decided to become yet another identity. Roof over the Ricoh by any chance?

There is even a strategy I wouldn't put past Ms Seppala.. Get Ricoh on cheap, turf out CCFC and convert to NEC rival and build a small stadium for CCFC (which in meantime continues groundshare at Northampton).

Food for thought!

Grendel, have a look at how much money Warwick University make off conferences, training days, seminars and exhibitions.

Enlighten me how much do they make? Is their overhead and cost structure similar to the Ricoh?

Nick- can you adjudicate the accusation?

It's very difficult because if different IP addresses are used you never can tell.

However it is Sunday night and I always do with some nostalgia remember them as "watching the detectives" night.

Now if you were old morse or frost what would you deduce from old alfabet's rant? Obviously its full if inane crap which points the finger of suspicion. However, there is actually one tiny little phrase so often used by our deranged friend which ultimately points the finger at spaghetti head. So in classic Sunday night detective parkance what is it? What gave him away?

Well we may get CCFC accounts for this year by then :D

QUOTE=stupot07;554101]As OSB posted the other week, the next set of accounts won't show he true reflection of ACL without Ccfc because of the once in the lifetime opportunity that is the Olympics, the fact that they were still receiving match day costs and F&Bs and other associated incomes from Ccfc games. It will be the 2013/14 accounts released in April/may 2015 that will show the true impact of no Ccfc.[/QUOTE]

LOL, it's not like as if you ever trouble yourself with answering any questions put to you.

I'll however ask you (and anyone else prepared to answer) one more question, should the Higgs charity write off the £6M they put into the Arena?

Quite.

No answer from Grendel there, I note - or to me either.

Seems like as soon as he knows he's lost the argument he either hides or changes the subject. Classic WUM, perhaps just better to ignore him, though I'd admit he is very good at getting bites.

Anyway, work to do etc. My job today, believe it or not, is to try to renegotiate our office lease. I'm up for a rent strike, do you reckon it'll work? ;)

All depends, are your offices too large and expensive and for your companies needs?

If they are then I'd suggest that you move into somewhere smaller and less expensive.

who? So let me get this right when An obvious troll (clue is in the moniker) says a stadium is a white elephant, it is set in stone. Forget that their is no evidence that the ricoh would remain a football stadium if ccfc ever did build a stadium!

So it is inconceivable that a stadium with such transport links and so obviously fought over for clearly some financial purpose, but because a troll says it cannot happen it never will. This is your argument is it?

To say it has holes on is an understatement! Mind you there is no great news there . Grendel fails to make case again shock. Suppose you could never call that news, as it would refer to every single insipid ill considered non sensical load of horse dung that spurts from the one true troll on a consistent basis!

Your funny Grendel because pretty much everyone on this forum thinks you are a joke - which is ironic as you seem to be the only one who takes you seriously!

As long as you're negotiating with a reasonable landlord you should be fine.

Even if that place is so far away you'll lose 85% of your business?

I'm glad you're not a management consultant.

Or you could stay in an office too large with an unsustainable rent and go bust losing a 100% of your business?

Those that can't, teach.

@ summerisle....Or are you saying, You'd be more than happy(For the next 5-10 years) to make do with the 7 staff, and you other 25 can fook off, coz I don't need you?

Would expect the 7 staff left to be happy that they still have jobs, rather than all 32 losing them.

Once things improve business wise then add staff as and when required.

Surely more sensible than paying for a large, expensive office purely for selfish egotisitcal reasons.

Though if one of the staff who was given the chop I'd be inclined to blame the egotist who moved us out of our sustainable office for the business to somewhere far too large that brought the business down.

I heard a story about some financial analyst who immediately recommended RBS as a sell as soon as he saw that their new offices were furnished with a fountain.

I don't know. Then again I don't know many who charge rent of at least 300% of what may be considered a market value.

Where did you find the market value for a 32,000 seater stadium?

Given that TF apparently told some of the Sixfield attendees that Northampton were charging 170k for a 7,000 seater stadium, £400k sounds pretty good.

Certainly if there was even a rumour that a 32,000 seater stadium might be available for £150k, you'd have to be a bit of a fool not to chase that offer down as doggedly as possible.

Is the rent level even pertinent? What's cost more over SISU's term; rent or settling the contracts of ill appointed managers?

Or is the rent just a simple tag line to convince some fans?

I always answer questions and the answer to this one is I don't care either way. Certainly if the football club acquired it for free (or more likely a significantly reduced amount) and the consequences were unhealthy for all other parties I wouldn't be losing any sleep.

You can't use the fact that they made ridiculous managerial appointments to justify ACL charging them an excessive rent. Even though the point on its own is valid.
