Is this written anywhere or just what you have heard? Interesting to consider anyway. I actually thought ryton would have been an alright site, pretty much same as the ricoh but opposite side of the city! Would have meant I would have experienced what other people on that side of the city do getting to the ricoh!

I think we should just knock down primark and build there. Yes it may not be big enough to hold in the region of 10,000 but at least chavs would have to resort to shopping online using Shaniqua's wifi.

So if it is not them, is there any confirmation to suggest there is now not enough space to build a stadium? If so where does that leave?

Brandon is a no starter. There will never be planning permission granted there. Not for a full-blown stadium.

I work in the logistics game, the type of customer going into that site will be a 24/7 operation won't be able to share employee car parking space and no chance for H&S purposes would allow fans on the yards where the HGVs operate. I drive past this site every day once you build a big office and their associated car parking won't be able to fit a stadium plus parking like Shrewsbury on the remaining land.

Next stop Baginton a much bigger development not practical for fans but could be their next option, Brandon & Warwick Uni not a chance. Keresley & J2 M6 possibly.

Problem I see for them with Baginton is the new development there has just been given the go ahead. I don't know the details of it, but would the developer be willing to alter all his plans at this stage to accommodate a football ground?

Where you thinking in Keresley? There isn't much room left on the Colliery site. Also they are now looking at building houses near the Hare and Hounds, so I cant see them being willing to allow further development if/when those houses get built.

J2 where the Erickson office is as for Keresley you are right not much left around there to go for.

Baginton would be awful,difficult to get to with chaotic traffic on kamikaze islan, ideal site inside the city would be courtaulds but no way would that be allowed to happen even if CCC don't stop it I'm sure the government would for no other reason that there is an existing adequate facility a few miles away

The old rolls royce has still some offices and some small scale manufacturing. The Ansty J2 site is about 1/2 mile walk from the Hilton Hotel at J2. When I say walk would be a thoroughly unpleasant walk

Oh yh definitely would need imporvements, but realistically so would anywhere to support a football stadium. My point was aimed more at saying with the work alrady being done to the a45 there wouldn't need to be many more "major" imporvements to the roads. If they weren't doing the improvements to the a45 there would be no way in hell that a football stadium could be built in that area.

One problem with Baginton the freehold of most of the land is owned by coventry city council.

I think it's just the two universities bearing some fruit possibly. The problem is though that it's the City Centre that requires jobs to accelerate regeneration.

I think we need a complete rethink on City Centers. Shopping and work are more diverse now. Should be a civic centre, maybe start with putting the stadium there? (aaand we're back on topic!)

I can only assume they're thinking of rents and footfall, but look at the place, no one wants to trudge through the precinct when you can shop online or for not much more hassle go somewhere like Bull Ring.

People want fresh produce, things they can't find online/in superstores and places to meet/relax etc. build a city around that and people will come. Start with the football stadium, add in an outdoor event space maybe a park, and get people actually going to town on a Saturday again.

Edit: this is controversial. But I think our "famous" indoor market shoots itself in the foot too. Get rid of the roof, open it up so people actually wander past and are drawn in.

The J2 M6 Ansty site is nearly a mile from the Hilton Hotel, that makes it a non starter would bring A46 and A4600 to a halt.

If and when Friargate happensthe whole city centre will be transformed. IMO biggest threat to Cov is HS2 great for Brum, and will lead to even more development and concentration there. Would lead to an inferior rail service between Cov and London.

Very valid and logical point

It does seem absolutely crazy that SISU et al are still scratting around for a new stadium from a rapidly diminishing availability list when we already have a state of the art premiership class ground - how this obvious fact can be completely ignored is beyond me.

I've said it all along we have sleepwalked into this situation through intransigence and intolerance resulting in the unbelievable scenario we are in today with "home" gates of 2,000 and the complete alienation of 95% of the fan base.

Judging by the conversations here so far - it'll be dawning on a few just how stupid this whole idea of a new stadium is.
If, and a massive if, it ever gets built, it'll be off the beaten track, a hike for anyone. It won't be part of our Coventry community. Isolated is a word I'd choose. No friendly pubs to sink a pint before the game, not pedestrian friendly etc etc. It won't really be in Coventry will it.
I'm not a great fan of the Ricoh, I know I'm not alone in that. It too is in the wrong place. Highfield Road was central. In the community. If we had purchased housing around the ground (like Liverpool are doing) it would have allowed for development. And we would have had a neat 30,000 ground, fit for the next 50 years. Where thousands of people could have walked to.
All water under the bridge I know. But it saddens me to have missed that opportunity.
Having said that - with further development around the Ricoh, maybe a few more bars and cafes, right by it, it might feel better. At least it is in Coventry (just).
These other sites are remote. Perhaps something for those inside Sixfields to ponder this Sunday? Do you really want to support owners who will do this?

We'd never have been able to develop HR any thoughts of that are nostalgic pipedreams.

Doesn't mean we couldn't have found somewhere closer, but with the need for redevelopment to pay for a new build your options are severely limited.

Might be waiting for the outcome of the Judical Review Application Appeal before saying anything about sites.

Would be a bit silly though to say repeatedly in the media and to the fans that the club has "moved on" from the Ricoh when they haven't.
