Restoring my faith in football (1 Viewer)

Just a quickthread to thank the players, manager and backroom staff at my beloved CCFC forresorting my faith in football, despite all the off field problems at theminute.

I sat there last night, and watched a utterly dreadful England team - full ofover paid, over rated players whimper out to a 1-0 defeat to Germany withouteven mustering 1 shot on target. All be it, it is was a friendly ( if there isevery such a thing against the Germans!? )

After the game I sat there and thought to myself - thank God I’m a City fan andwhat a contrast our game against Bradford was on Sunday. Obviously the'standard' is different between league one football and international - thereis no denying that, But I’m damned sure I know which one I’d prefer to go andsee. The passion and fight that our players have shown for our club this seasonmakes me truly proud to be CCFC fan. I know there is still a fair way to gothis season, but wherever we finish in the league, I just wanted to thank-youSP and Co!

I watch the Sky Blues whenever I can, at Sixfields and occasionally away. Bradford was my 3rd trip this season and yes I'm both proud & privileged to be entertained by such a talented group of players.

Congratulations to Steven and all his staff they deserve so many, many plaudits. PUSB!

It shows how times have changed.

On Sunday I was disappointed to only to get a point, whereas in years gone by I would be happy just to get an away point from a top half of the table team...

And having the home team employ a certain style of football to combat our attacking style...

Its good to watch and now always expect to win.
However it feels like it could be taken away from us at anytime.
Just wish we could have some positive news on moving back to the Ricoh so we can start to build again.

Wednesday, normally I and thousands of you out there would be getting geared up for Saturday after the exciting game at Bradford. But I won't be going. It's a rotten feeling I guess all you other boycotters share. But stay firm. Don't go. Let's show SISU exactly what we think of moving our club to Northampton. They couldn't have treated us with anymore disdain than they have. Looking forward to MK. Sisu can rot in hell until they bring the club back to Coventry.

Have to agree with covkid87 where he states that there is a world of difference between the two levels of football (international and League 1). I have followed City for just over 50 years but unfortunately just can't get to games these days (even if we were at the Ricoh) due to my decision to retire to the Isle of Wight. However, I get my live footy fix by watching (and half-heartedly supporting!) my local team of Newport (IoW) who play in the Wessex League (think it's something like league 9 or 10 in comparison to City), but it's great to watch and they're playing well, currently top of the Wessex Premier League. There is a huge difference in skills to the way City (and other big teams) play, but that's the joy of watching Newport.
My heart will ALWAYS be with the city of my birth (albeit I'm a Paddy deep down!), and will follow them with all my heart. It was also disappointing to watch England lose last night, but I'm sure they will get their act together before the big games next year.

It is all relative. The last couple of years walking the dogs in the park I have started stopping to see a bunch of 11/12 year olds play football in the Sunday League.

Yes there are a few air kicks and some haven't got the strength to make a cross field pass.

But I have seen goals scored from 8 or 9 passes all one or two touch football and you can see the kids are listening to the coaches.

Alternative cut to the Ricoh pay 20 quid to watch Freddie Eastwood.

It is great we currently have a crop of young players and a switched on manager. We believe at our level every game we can win.

No we are not Barcelona, we are not even in the top three teams in our league. But we are competitive and playing football in the right way. It is a long long time since I felt that.

SISU/ACL please bring us home.
