'Sometime in the future'..................and thereby forms a huge part of SISU's strategy. It's a war of attrition they are creating in the hope that one side crumbles and gives in !

Well I think they'll be waiting a while. Nearly two years since acl last had a rental payment, yet they seem to be getting along ok.

Yes, to which we replied that we were talking about the whole article not just one pararaph. Some bits are very true but others might not be.

He's just picking one bit, which to be fair isn't totally incorrect, to create an argument he can win. Leave him to it. Keep it about the whole article not one cherry picked bit. We can all do that and it's pointless.

Nick, covmark, robbo.

After your comments today, I trust you will be after Led Reids blood next time he produces a one sided and inaccurate article?

I haven't said it was one sided, I have just said that not all facts are correct (unless there are things we don't know). I am not after any blood?

A question that I have posed a number of times, but have yet to receive an answer -

If SISU believe that the 32,000 seater Ricoh is not worth very much - the article suggests ML sees the value at circa £4m - why would they ever consider building a much smaller stadium for a cost of around £25m?

If Les Reid facts are inaccurate I will look to balance the arguement, however I never said that it was on sided I just pointed out comments that I believed were an inaccurate version of the true facts after which I have had further clarification.

He has said that ML has told the Guardian but didn't really go into it much unless he has past articles?

Obviously the Council don't believe that £4m is a good enough value for the Freehold, the only reason they would consider it I would imagine is because the council's valuation is more than the £25m they are willing to pay out for a new stadium that they'd build themselves.

Doesn't it all come down to the point that both sides have their version of events - whose is correct we are no closer to knowing.

I see the sisu rent boys are out again.

I laugh every time I see this term used.

Let me make something clear to you Valiant, Sisu and Rent are not two things that over the last couple of years that have gone together in tandem, so if that's your insult it's not very well thought of.

I suspect the reason that values of 3m or 4m are propagated is because it paints a picture of a failing business, an operation that is in trouble and needs to be bailed out hard talking focussed financial people.

It doesnt actually have to be about reality

Others of course are just simply confused as to who valuations are done for, the purpose of those valuations, what is being valued and when .....

Given that after all associated expense re. Site. The actual cost of Stadium construction would come in circa£40M. The sale of the ground only could fall somewhere between £30-40M with a little good will
That way Sisu would have something Tangible for the amount blown on HF2 while potentially retaining some form of fanbase
Personally I'd rather see the fans own It for future security

Excactly. Sisu won't buy a stadium if they can get one cheaper, but they wouldn't build if they could find a cheaper and worthy alternative.

To help negotiations it might be helpful if Sisu win the JR.

Seeing as SISU didn't want supporters to retain even a small stake in the club through their "compulsory" share purchase I doubt they'd be keen on any part fan ownership of a stadium:(.
One of the most common themes around the original takeover was that SISU's "investment rules" meant that they had to own 100% of any investment.

Lets be clear that CCFC were repaid all but 308k of their net investment in the Arena project. In being so paid they deposited not only the monies spent and shown as assets but also all the associated debts into the arena project. If this had not happened then we would not be having this conversation because the club would have been liquidated in all likelyhood. Considering the distressed state of CCFC at the time they did well not to lose far more than £308k on the deal that was done 19/12/03

CCFC H Ltd had the option to purchase the site of the stadium and never exercised that option (it lapsed before 31/05/02). CCFC at no time ever owned the site. The council acquired the title to the site after the CCFC option on it failed. CCFC didnt have the money to purchase it.

Having gained the title to the site the council sold part of it to Tesco. They could only do that because they had title to it. Therefore any profit or funds from the deal belonged legitimately to CCC. Those funds were then invested in the build, together with £10m of council money and various grants etc. put the initial CCC investment at over 70m (nearly 80m when you factor in the interest received that was involved and the contribution recieved from selling rights to the casino build)

Talk that the council paid £10m are wrong or that there should be some inclusion of CCFC's contribution, the most it could have been was 308k

Talk of 4m for the site frankly looks a little silly ..........

can you stop reporting facts please OSB, you're making some people look silly.

An interesting follow up by David Conn that reiterates his claim about the rent free offer:

"Thanks for the kind words Houch87. However, on your list of points, where you say ACL never offered a rent-free deal; they have within the last few weeks, an offer made and communicated via the Football League which was trying to see if a deal could be done. Sisu rejected that offer, to return the club to the Ricoh Arena rent-free."

If this comment on the Guardian article is anything to go by, then the next demo against the council is going to be even more sparsely attended than the last:

SkyBlueSpot wrote:

"A very enlightening read. Until I read it I thought that my local council and the owners of the Arena were entirely to blame for the debacle. This was based on reports in my local newspaper. I joined a protest movement against them and even took part in an anti-Coventry Council demonstration. I can now see that the fault lies squarely with the other side and pardon the pun, I feel I was totally conned. Serious questions need to be asked of the Football League to ascertain how they have concluded that Sisu are "fit and proper" to run CCFC and what proof they have that Sisu will indeed build a new stadium. It is very hard for someone like me who backed Sisu to read that they have refused a rent-free deal to bring the club back to Coventry while negotiations take place. It is a very sad indictment of modern football. Thank you for highlighting the truth of the situation."

would love to see how Fisher, Labovitch, Seppala etc explain that away.............. and how staying at Sixfields makes clear sense for CCFC in those circumstances

Also interested to know how the FL see things following that ............

i wouldn't mind it if the FL could confirm or deny this. and if they do confirm this why are they not enforcing their rules as its clear that a ground share is not required as we are not homeless.

Really surprised that Weber Shandwick haven't been shouting this from the rooftops to be honest, would make Sisu look very silly if true.

For once would welcome some statements from both ACL and Sisu on this.
