Keep seeing the comment from posters talking about real fans.
What is a real fan?
Im a little embarrassed to admit to seeing us play live less than 6 times over the last decade, lots of reasons, circumstance and all that.
Does that mean im not a real fan, or i am less of a fan than the person that currently goes religiously?
Is their opinion more valued than mine or the next persons.
Ive supported the club all my life, seen hundreds of games home and away over the years and would consider myself to be a real fan, but if my opinion differs from yours then im not a real fan?
How do i/we qualify as a real fan?

There is no such thing as a "real fan" in the way it is being put across, this term has been dreamt up by the people who don't attend Sixfields because they feel they're better than those who attend Sixfields, I am a real fan who doesn't attend Sixfields, Torchy is a real fan who attends Sixfields. Anyone using this term in the manner it has been our about is a 'real' moron in my opinion.

Less than 6 times in a decade is pretty horrific, saying that it doesn't make you less of a fan, you just have a lesser gauge of how the team is playing

I have lived away from Coventry for 24 years and go and watch when we play in the north and will go back to my half a dozen home home games once we move back to Coventry, despite not going to every game I know I'm a true city fan because the first thing I feel the morning after a defeat is sick.

I would imagine that in the next decade your record in the last decade would qualify you as Super never mind Real fan.

For me a real fan is someone who, if they had it within their power, would do anything to help the club.

For instance, if a city fan won a billion pounds I would expect them to sort this mess out.

If you ask someone which team do you support and they answer Coventry, that's a real Coventry fan and also a true football fan.

Any idiot can pick a team who wins trophies on a regular basis. It takes someone who understands what football is really about to choose to follow your local team or a team you have a strong and real connection with, whatever that may be.

First team I watched (outside of the street, or school). First result I always look for. Only Team that can grab my attention across a crowded bar because they are on SSN. Would buy a paper just to read a story about the team. When I dream of playing / watching they are the one team I am always on. The only regular 90 minutes (97 minutes for the PNE fans) that can alter my mood. Something I can't change.

It is not unique amongst fans to feel like I do, and others will have differing opinions what makes up the feeling. It is a feeling above all.

Attendance is a shit way to judge who is a better fan, or who can be a fan when you think of it.

I enjoy the stories of people that live miles away sometimes even 1000's of miles that have never been privileged to have seen a live game, but still have a passion for the team, and a dream that one day they might be able to see them play live. I am always impressed especially when it is not a fashionable team that they choose to follow. To me they are real fans.

The only people that are not real fans as far as I am concerned are the corporates that have more interest in the half time food then the game. The people that consider the game as a business, a means to make a profit. To them the score means little, 1-0 is the same as a 9-0. A local derby is just another game, and legendary players are commodities.

I have read all sorts of accusations on here from both sides. Criticisms about floating support part time support.

How do you judge fans of 30 years against fans of 2 years. People who were season ticket holders, 60s, 70s, 80s or 2012? We are all fans our situations are all different.

In my book anybody who claims to be more worthy than another Sky Blues Fan.....probably needs to take a look at themselves. The I've got more programmes than you argument is childish and irrelevant!

I don't have a problem with people who go or stay away. I don't have a problem with people who are limited to what games they attend.

I do have a problem with people who promote themselves as better fans/supporters than others especially when they resort to abuse.....anybody who can't understand why big games get better attendances is small minded and in fact trying to restrict the potential growth of the club. But most in the boosted attendance are regular fans.

Well put as this is the lowest I've felt in all the years I've been a City fan.You see clubs moving forwards and prosper whilst we go backwards.
Swansea were on the verge of extinction but look where they are now,and even Southampton and Leicester have been down but are clubs on the up. But we carry on supporting the club but it does half piss you off !
