I can remember when we played Colchester in the cup at HR in the Cup years ago and they brought about 20 lads who all sat together at the back gobbing off to the City fans in the M&B or whatever it was called when a City fan had enough and ran up to the fence and opened the gate at at the top, fair play to them, they all legged it over towards the city fans and about 200 people must have got up and legged it away from them into the East Stand. :pointlaugh:

Remember them being round up at the bottom of the road where the car park was and the average age was about 19 with one geezer playing the Fagan role in his 40's. :slap:

I really can't be bothered with all that! Its all fun having your local rivals over and having fun and offensive songs and chants, but the minute it goes violent, for me the fun stops and the idiots take over!

Talking of aways fans in our stands, remember Leeds... How embarrassing was that?! "Your just a town full of Leeds fans" I'm sure a team like Leeds get it all over but... Ugh seriously!

I agree, some of the little chavs are embarrassing. 95% of them nowadays would kick off and then leg it if somebody stood up to them!

Nice tbh, I don't understand why you were only given 3k. The away stand holds 5k+ and you have bought that in the past. Club probably didn't want to give your team too much encouragement with all the fans.

They were given 3000 initially, they have since applied for, and sold the rest of the stand.

Come off it,you have one song play up boring sky blues, absolutely dreadful song if ever i heard one....and yet you still sing it.

Dont forget to bring your balloons.....

Anyone remember the days when home and away fans could mingle together without trouble? Neither do I but my Grandad mentions it all the time. What has happened to the world. If the fans mix then you get banter, which results in trying to out sing each other, which results in a better atmosphere.

People (if you can call them that) like this need to grow up and enjoy the game and rivalry instead of being aggressive retards.

You can mingle now to what previous years were like. I remember the 80's. Some games you had to fight your way to the ground and then fight your way back out. They were the dark days when our attendances were down to an average of about 11,000. Some away games were a serious challenge. A lot of people went for the trouble but never to the game. How many here remember going to away games like Chelsea, Leeds, West Ham and even the Brum teams? Safety was either in numbers, or not wearing colours and keeping your mouth shut so your accent was not heard. You still had to get out of the ground. I was a teenager then. It felt like you had accomplished something some games to get in and out in one piece. I used to get the special train. One cup game against West Brom was a bit scary. First stop was New Street if I remember right. The Zulu's were waiting for us. By the time we got near the ground most of the people affiliated to different Brum teams had had a go at us. It was a police escort most of the way, but not all the way. Each time the police were not there it meant trouble. It was nearly as bad on the way home. A lot of the trouble in football these days are the idiots from them days that can't let go as they enjoy the buzz, and also young lads that know no better.

Now you can mingle with the home fans most of the time and have a drink with them. Good banter and a good day. Still depends on who you are playing though. I am glad the 80's are well behind us. You will still get idiots though. Most of them just want to look big to their friends, but as soon as it gets ugly they run away. At least women and children can go to the game now. 25 years ago that was not the case.

6,000 Leicester fans at an away game is amazing, especially considering they dont see us as rivals......:jerkit:

But whats even more amazing has to be the fact they will all be related to each other.

I'm not a hooligan or chav ( whatever one of them is). I'm just a 35 year old bloke who will take great exception to being surrounded by rival fans in my own ground. The lesta fans are In the wrong for being in our seats. Fair play to anyone who tells em so IMO.

So as someone mentioned earlier, you grew up when the 80's violence was the norm. Explains a lot my friend. You may be a really nice bloke but I don't feel that violence at a football match is ok or should be advocated.

We are Coventry, we are in the home end, why should we allow to be surrounded by Leicester Fans? If the boot was on the other foot i’m sure they DO exactly the same.

As bad as each other

I did say what's worng with the world. If your mate jumps off the cliff you aint gonna jump after him. Why would you do it just because they would if the boot was on the other foot?

They shouldn't be there but the responsible adult would advise the stewards and then resume watching the match, not beat the hell out of them.

I hope one day it gets back to the days when segregation was not needed. I sit with by brothers at games and they sit with me. It is shameful that they are Fester fans, but there is nothing I can do about that. I have never had any problems in their end and they have never had a problem in our end.

We do not do it to get trouble. We do it so we can spend the game together. I sing our songs, they sing theirs. The banter is always good. If anything did ever happen though blood is thicker than water. It is a shame that people think that families should be segregated.

That is fair enough, but punching them in the face would be wrong :)

In these kind of moments I often wonder "What would Jesus do?" and I think he would object to punching my fellow man in the face.

However, I think he would feel if the dirty little inbred scumbag just happened to be foolish enough to buy a ticket in the Cov end. Then I can hardly be blamed me for being over excited and loose my grip and scolding them thus scaring them for life!

I sat in the home end once, Wolves a few years ago when we lost 2-1 and Mifsud scored after 30 seconds.

Sit down shut up wear no colours and you will be fine.

Fester have been given another 400 tickets. Total of 6,300 altogether.

Misread the post for a minute, as I thought the correct statement was 400 brain cells found in total of 6300 leiecster fans, but then that would be exagerating.

I'm just wondering as to whether any of these guys promoting violence at our ground and pretty much actively saying they'll do it, have kids they like taking up the City, or remember when they were kids going up?

If you guys want to prove "how much you love your club" using the lowest common denominator then do that away from the ground. Don't ruin it by creating an atmosphere in which people feel they cannot pass on a legacy of supporting their club for fear of their child being involved in or witnessing very real violence. I'm not taking my young daughter to this match for the obvious reasons, and she absolutely loves the City, loves Sky Blue Sam and I'm not having a bunch of kids throwing us back into the dark ages for taking banter too far. Learn from the past and grow up. Its football and not WWII. I'm as passionate as anyone about my club but I do not condone alienating families, the elderly, disabled or pacifists. Coventry City Football Club is for everyone.

Being an idiot away from the ground is not the answer either. The majority of the idiots that do this sort of thing are cowards. They would not do it by themselves. They would not do it when outnumbered. They would not do it when the odds are not in their favour. A fair few years ago I was with a few mates having a drink on the way to the ground. As we were on our way to the next pub a few Cov idiots attacked a bloke who was with his missis and kids. They were a bit surprised when we stopped the attack and they ran off. I have nothing against idiots that go at each other well away from anyone who is not interested, but there are more places now where they can do their thing in a controlled environment. One against one is not their thing though.

Well that's it... You just don't do it in those environments. It's not right in the first place but to inflict it onto the general public who, really, dont deserve to be exposed to it is just plain, black and white wrong.

Some people take Football Factory a little too seriously and think they're Danny Dyer... And I've never like him either (exept in Human Traffic, he was funny in that)

I completly agree that away fans should not be in our end, regardless of the opposition.

I also completly agree violence is not the solution and should not be advocated.

We all have that urge at times in the midst of a high tension match to want to smack a particularly annoying oppostion fan or any you can ahold of, it is part of going to games, part of being a passionate fan. The difference between those with brain cells and the idiot is knowing how to control that urge, and channel it in the right way.

The only exception to this would be if an oppisiton fan was openly initimating others and actively seeking a fight - in this situation all gloves are off.

No one is saying violence is a good thing! After reading all these deep and meaningful posts about not frightening various people and having respect for families that are at the game etc nobody has actually come up with an alternative to smacking a Lesta fan that is blatantly and shamelessly gloating in a part of the ground he shouldn't be in!
Everyone's different, some people have no back bone and stand back and let others take the piss out of them, others do something about it.
