Couple of beers for staying up by a point?
We also had a 10 point deduction last season & finished 4 points better off, pending last match result!
Hardly cause for a celebration SP!

Considering the environment the owners have created for SP and the team I think what was accomplished this season was nothing short of spectacular. But for loosing Clarke and not finding a suitable replacement it could have been better. Both of which can be attributed in part to the environment.

Come on Snoz although we've had a shocking second half to the season the very first target of survival has been achieved, all that against our current back drop loosing his star striker, loosing his other striker to injury and having to play a winger up front and all the other crap who can blame him for putting a positive feeling on it. Leyton Orient is a prime example of what a settled focused squad can achieve in this division but unfortunately for us we are set to re-build again next season which in my opinion is where our biggest problem is, every year we have to re-build and start again hence we start well then tail off.

All in all hardly cause for celebration but no need to be ripped apart for achieving his/our original target, I fear next season could be a bigger struggle though with no Wilson,Murphy moussa, Christie. All of the players listed are responsible for scoring, creating, stopping goals and have played key role at some stage in this season.

Yes, next season is a big one for SP!
Don't get me wrong, he's the man for the job, not one of the anti Steve mob!
He's a rare person in that he does what he says & sees things from a fan's point of view!
He could do with a shave though ;)

And Last season all the Home games were played at the RICOH this season we have played every game away ! I think SP can be rightly proud and if we beat Sheffield United on the last game we will be 1 point of last year. So all in all he can be rightly proud of the achievement

The suitable replacement bit went horrifically wrong.
However when you sign Donnelley and Delf
It should have been a done deal.

Which is exactly the point-these are not the times to be celebrating. Nobody is diminishing the achievement of overhauling a 10 point deficit to get safe, they just don't see staying in this league as a cause for celebration. It is a subtle difference but one nonetheless.

As daft as this may sound, I'm currently managing City on FIFA 14 and even on a video game it's a difficult job. The board sets unrealistic targets and gives you practically zero transfer budget and a threadbare squad. I get by by dipping into the loan market (my record is 8 loanees during a season) but at the end of each season I've had to start again and completely rebuild the squad. If it's this frustrating a job on FIFA I can only imagine what it's like doing the real thing. If City mount a push for the playoffs next season Pressley will have worked a minor miracle in my humble opinion.

That's a fair point. Perhaps SISU have succeeded in knocking the ambition out of me and I see scraping out of the bottom four of division three as success. They had to succeed at something sooner or later I guess ;-)

I agree with the sentiment here but we won more points at Northampton this season than that at the Ricoh the season before.

Should be proud of the first half of the season but ashamed by the second half.

You can look at it like that. But with Clarke going, Wilson injured, the usual problems with loan players, then all the off field goings on, was the rug pulled from under his feet?

The turmoil around the club must be effecting his plans and ability to build for the future. Let's face it this season is very similar to many seasons we have had in Lge 1, Championship and Premier. Under a whole host of managers.

Perhaps we should stop blaming managers and look elsewhere. Staying in the Premier league as long as we did may not have been pretty or enjoyable at the time, but an achievement in itself.

The club needs stability.

I think Pressley has done OK, but no more. He has not done well with his signings, and in fact has signed lots of rubbish. He started the season well and hit the ground running, but has not coped well with what has happened since New Year. 2 'home' wins in 2014 shows the problem.

This patchy reality seems to have been forgotten in the rush to praise him, and this is why I think he will move on in the summer if he gets any sort of decent offer. He will be on a hiding to nothing next season at City with a reduced squad, so who could blame him.

Can we be certain signings are down to him or is it Waggott? From what I have seen how this part of club business is done and by who is a complete mystery. In fact what Waggott does is a complete mystery.

There is some pride attached to a club like Coventry punching above its weight in the top flight for years on end. There is no pride whatsoever in the same club clinching third tier safety with a game to go. Yes you can talk about the deduction but that was brought about by our owners' failed attempts to send another company bust rather than genuine financial difficulty.

The points deduction was deserved and something we had to live with. Yes we have scrapped home. However the results gained did off set the deficit, which without it would have seen us finish around 9th (still disappointing I think).

But I agree fully, the focus should be on how our owners are running the club and what their real motives are. Their strategies are a detriment to the fans and the football.

Any manager will struggle under this regime.

I am a fan of SP! However his signings are questionable! Maybe it's more Waggott's fault?
Well done for inserting a cut on Clarke's promotion.
Ingwe & Deluded would never have thought of that!
