And by the way, I think Christie is a decent player who didn't live up to his potential last season but I think if coached to the best of his ability can become a good player.

Probably better than Robert Carlos.

I was just making the point sometimes you don't have to be a great defender to be considered great like the Brazilian full backs. A agree completely cyrus would make a whole lot better right winger. A baker style of player IMO.

I think he was a great defender and a personal hero of mine yes but he couldn't defend. He was an attacking as cyrus was. Look at his defend in stats and he wasn't good at stopping goals like cyrus. That's my point. Both are the same player but on different levels.

Haven't really got time to look at his stats, other than the countless trophies and awards he's won. I watched him on many occasions and he was a top defender and great going forward.

He also was part of many defences that leaked numerous goals over many seasons and a tackle rate conversion fairly low. Great going forward however and very skillful and fast.

It's not a punt at Cyrus because he is leaving, Cyrus is a good athlete, I personally think that Cyrus would be better off as a Winger, because Cyrus can't defend, that said I think Cyrus was a Winger through youth levels but was converted to a Cyrus Right Back.

Based on last season Cyrus wasn't our best Right Back, but his Agent and the hype surrounding Cyrus has got him a very good move, Good luck to him Cyrus

I'm confused. Who to believe, SP or an anonymous bloke on a football forum, Rupert_Bear? :thinking about:

"We obviously made it clear that we wanted him to stay but at the same time we respect his decision to seek out a fresh challenge and for that we wish him the very best of luck.".

I read we don't get compensation if we didn't try to keep him?

Three year contract with a team who must be considered promotion material.
No brainer for the guy
Good luck Cyrus, followed the courage of his convictions and it runs the academy for another year

To be fair to Rupert he has a lot of contacts and some real inside info;

Slager left because promises made to him when he joined didn't happen fact !! and that's it, came from the player himself a week last Sunday. His agent moved him on and was to have a trial at Blackburn Rovers, looks like Stoke came in first. Lets see where he ends up.

Be fair, he hasn't ended up anywhere yet. I'm sure Blackburn are just waiting to clear a few out before snapping him up ;)

Rupert' sources also seemed to suggest we wouldn't be at Sixfields at all as he stated last year;

I don't want to raise hopes or expectations but was told tonight and his has come from a very good source and that is the football league are under massive pressure from other football circles and Government. This Gary Hoffman proposal has been timed to perfection, the FL chairman is in print to have said they the FL very reluctantly will allow Coventry to play at Northampton but urged all parties to look for a solution asap. I believe we will see in the next day or so either an appeal to the FL or FA and then a legal challenge based on that FL statement. I was also told Northampton Town people or wobbling big time, this is going to get very, very interesting

Yea tell him he's not wanted and he will play well.
More likely he wants away from this shambles of a club like our other better players.
Why do people continue to justify these idiots we have as owners?

He was wanted unless your believe Rupert Bear -- and I'd suggest you dig out some of his other "exclusives" if I was you.

Sorry, my sarcasm smiley was obviously broken, I'm well aware rupert (and for balance every other "insider") is full of shit.

I think we all know that in a good team he will shine. I've seen his potential and it's not going to be fulfilled here.

How do you know he wasn't wanted? We were eligible for compensation so he must have at least been offered terms equal to what he was already on, if not better terms.

Rupert Bear's sources told him. To be fair Ruperts sources did also say this;

Word is Murphy is off aswell. Can they get a fee for him ?

In April 2013.........................

They offered him a contract at the same time as Wilson signed his and Christie declined it, only makes sense they were looking to get move him on after he made it clear he wanted to leave at the end of the season

Haven't trawled the whole of this thread, but I find the most interesting part of the Derby move is that SISU reached an agreement with someone - without insisting on going to a tribunal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they beginning to learn.......???????????????????????

He is young and still raw. Not our greatest loss in the history of our club, but good luck to him. He still has development potential.
