Transfer Fees, Number of players in and out................... (12 Viewers)

Lots of talk about the fact that most clubs do not have large movements of players in and out and also the fact that we have not signed a player on a fee. This summary illustrates we are very much the norm.

There is some stability but the majority of clubs ship people in and out and some clubs have lost far more players that they have gained.

As for transfers I can count 17 with a fee (undisclosed) but if you look at the players some are from the likes of Harrogate Town and Worksop - so less that £10,000 I would guess. In fact it is pretty certain only 3 real fees have been paid according to this and the biggest spenders seem to be Crawley Town

Exactly. In terms of wages spent etc. we're one of the biggest spenders. Bristol city have probably spent the most in transfer fees due to the freeman deal being worth £1 million plus and some money for korey smith. Our fans don't look at other teams, they make judgements based on nothing and are all in all fucking stupid.

so you pair know the accounts inside out and what city pay in wages, the fact that any high earners are being released...is ok, FRY brands his fellow fans as stupid....some could label you a complete moron but name calling isnt really a route to success is it.
Coventry fans dont expect to be playiing in this league ...arrogance maybe, however the spiral of decline continues and the band plays on...but its ok aslong as other teams are seemingly doing the same as us...again we dont know exactly what they are paying do we? the frustration again comes from we are selling for good money (alledgedly) and seeing nowt but free's coming in....most coming back from injury....makes em cheaper to get i spose and maybe some may be real gems, but we have done this before and look where it ended.

I expect very few signings with a fee at this level. However we have lost 4-5 key performers since Christmas.

So at the moment we are playing catch up rather than building on what we had. We have lost some of the higher earners and had revenue boosts from transfers.

I am disappointed we perhaps haven't pursued someone for a small fee to ensure an injection of quality...whether that be in central midfield or striker. Someone to build the team around and show a desire that we don't just intend to tread water.

I have been meaning fora while to write down a list of all the players who have played for us in the last 3 seasons to illustrate high player turnover...it will be hard to say how typical it is, but I bet the total number will be shocking in itself. Haven't had time lately but when I have a spare few minutes I will sit down and do this.

No I don't know the accounts but I know we have a bigger playing budget than Bradford, Chesterfield, Colchester, Crawley, Crewe, Fleetwood, Gillingham, Notts County, Oldham, Port Vale, Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Swindon, Walsall and Yeovil. Just look at the caliber of the players we have signed and then compare it to those clubs to see the difference. Why do our fans not do an ounce of research on other clubs before stating ridiculous things like we have the smallest playing budget in the division.

so "undisclosed" is not a real fee ?

interesting

Only because it doesn't fit Grendel's argument! Of course that negligible 10,000 fee could also have add on fees linked to development and future deals.

A fee is a fee.

It's not just 'this level'. Fair proportion of free transfers in the Premier league. Just demonstrating that wages across the board are so high that teams will happily let players go to manage the wage bill.

Sam Winnall will have gone for a lot more than £10,000 !!

"MK Dons were the first club to declare an interest in the 23-year-old, but their £100,000 offer three weeks ago was very quickly turned down. As far as we are concerned, unless a substantial offer is received in writing which fits with the club’s valuation of the player, he is staying."

I doubt that we have a bigger playing budget than Swindon or Bradford, couldn't compete on wages when covboy James Collins left Villa for Swindon. If you count the considerable payoffs for Bell and Sheffers leaving as part of the player's budget then it may be high but not convinced that we have one of the top 10 wage costs in this division.

There's another slant on that. One that the first two contributors to this thread won't want to face up to. Staring last January; Clarke, Wilson, Murphy, Adams, Christie, Moussa and soon Baker to go. Can you find another team that's lost as much quality and not - to date - replaced it?

Go on. Convince me and the other 'stupid'ones...

A fee is a fee.

What Jack Muldoon from Worksop you mean? Doubt it he's on a 1 year contract.

Still he was signed for a "minor" fee so I guess ccfcway would rather have him than Tudgay.

After all a fee is a fee.

Usual thread started by Grendel.

It cannot be answered.
Wages for a start are not disclosed by any team yet some seem to think that we are in the top 10 others worst.

Where is all the proof of this???

Why does it matter wages have never made a player play any better.

He is paid what they think they can get away with.

Usual thread? I am merely showing the actual facts;

Lots of players change clubs in league one

The huge majority do it for free

Yes. Alan smith took a huge pay cut (which you would know if you did an ounce of fucking research). Hayden Mullins will be on a bit I'll give you that but the rest will be on average to low league one wages.

If SISU wanted someone on here to fight their sorry corner he's their man.
He's does it unpaid as well.
He grabs facts from nowhere, starts a thread and keeps on bringing up facts that he can't prove.

How can we have the biggest wage budget on the lowest crowds? Genuine question. Even with the Wilson money, we're not back to the amount we have with 8k paying fans, and as some on here are so fond of reminding us all that was with no revenue streams (which are vital for being competitive).

Instead of looking at 2-3 players and claiming we must be paying more, why not look at the squad as a whole. How do we compare to other teams in terms of pure number of players and number of academy graduates in the squad.

Our wage budget will be fairly solidly mid-table at best.

Looking around at what other teams spend, most have a wage bill of roughly £2m, some as low as £850k, some as high as £15m.

I am looking at squads and squad sizes. I will see what I find. Who in this league has a £15 mil wage budget?

In the 2012/13 accounts our matchday receipts we £2.8m and that was with a fair few Cup games and an average of 11k in the league. So with wilson's and Christies fee, we're probably not far off that.

Not sure this season, but the Championship teams I've looked at that got relegated seems to land between £10m and £15m. 15 is admittedly the absolute high end.

What is the obsession with paying fees? If there are 2 players of equal quality, one on a free and one with a fee to pay, I'd have the free one any day.

Fair enough.

What about merchandise and sponsorship that have also taken a hit?

Of course the general situation is for clubs to lose a similar amount on average to they gain because otherwise squads would increase in size year on year. In fact the general situation is probably for clubs to lose more than they sign on average because the number of players coming in through youth systems is likely greater than the number of retirees each year.

The problem is being average with signings in vs signings out isn't enough for us this season as the squad we ended the season with was much too small. If we had ended with a decent squad then we'd have been happy with one in and one out.

As for fees the simple fact of the matter is if you are bringing in millions in transfer fees, spending no money on transfer fees and paying wages below the league average you are likely to be making your squad worse. When your squad lost 11 of the last 20 games it probably can't afford to be made worse.

I'm not really sure why I'm responding to you though, you've shown in the last few days that you have no desire for a reasoned debate on this topic, just choosing to build strawman after strawman. You're not the only one of course the amount of 'wait this person was signed with no fee he must be terrible' posts has been absolutely idiotic.

We are bigger club than all the clubs you have mentioned. And we will be relagated because we have what I think is a poor side playing in a crap stadium .cheered on by a handful of lost lambs.we should not be in this position.

For what it is worth there is some substance in the opening post, a very high percentage of transfers in this league are for no fee. But the frustrating thing is that we have offloaded a lot of players that I expect would be toward the top end of the wages structure of the club in Murphy, Christie, etc. I don't think that we would offer very high wages to the new players given where we are possibly playing football for the foreseeable future.

But we have also received a substantial transfer fee for Wilsin, talk of 3 million (albeit not all up front) which is a lot for this division. Pressley talked of bringing in a lot of players this season, that was before Wilson went so I'm not convinced that the Wilson money has gone on the players bought in so far. If Pressley hasn't spent a transfer fee because he hasn't found the right player then fair enough. If he has decided that he would rather invest more into wages and just pick up free players then fair enough, as long as it is HIS decision. But the latter is only going to fuel the fire amongst us City fans that the club owners are strangling the club.

Look at the squads you fucking retard. Other teams squads are shit. DO research before blindly predicting relegation. Stop bringing up sisu and the fucking stadium.
