Can't see this coming off, will probably take 700k to get him away from Swindon. Even with the Swindon signing of Obika I don't think they are exactly overcrowded in the striker department.

Brozek deal seems to be edging closer if my source is anything to go by. Same guy who gave me the Blair Adams news

I completely forget why, but I remember deciding that I trust Fry's transfer rumours before.

Still can't figure out if you are trolling or not :thinking about:

Fry said earlier on in pre-season that Pugh might sign for us and I am sure he also broke the news about Blair Adams to Notts County, among many others, usually the man is spot on.

Yea it's just the player he has linked us to was a bit out of the blue.

Pressley did say on Friday that he was "casting his net abroad" or words to that affect, also looking at the fact that this lad spent some time in Scotland it might not be a huge surprise, my only worry with this though is that according to Wikipedia Paweł Brożek is only 5 Ft 11, so either:

- At 31 the lad has seering pace (Highly doubtful)
- Or he can hold up the ball much better than an equivalent Michael Smith who is 6 Ft 4 (again doubtful)

I'd prefer Smith, but if that's not going to happen, lets hope Pressley can find a gem.

Sources in Swindon have cast doubt over any talk of Michael Smith joining Coventry. They insist that Jon Obika has been brought in to play alongside the target man. People in the know believe that Andy Williams will be used as an impact player as he was at the start of the season with Obika and Smith the main men in attack for the Robins' promotion push.
It is also understood that Swindon would only accept an ‘ridiculous offer’ which would appear to be price the Sky Blues out of the market.

Well they aren't going to accept a piss poor offer are they! How many times have we spout out the ridiculous offer and he's gone the next day, come on Cov let's go make a statement of intent! Back at the Ricoh, signing rival teams strikers, actually meaning business for once and not just making up the numbers

Coventry City to make third Michael Smith bid?

Coventry City are reportedly lining up a third offer for Swindon Town striker Michael Smith ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

City have already had two approaches for Smith’s services rejected by The Robins in this window, but are hopeful of beating the deadline with a third offer.

Earlier this month Swindon Chairman, Lee Power, revealed City had made two approaches but they “weren’t what we needed. They [goalscorers] are very hard to find so it would have to be a silly offer for us to listen.”

Smith, 22, was named in The Robin’s starting lineup against the Sky Blues on Saturday, but was replaced just before kick off by Conor Waldon after suffering a reoccurrence of the injury which had threatened to rule him out of the clash beforehand.

The 6 foot 4 target man would be seen as a direct replacement for Leon Clarke who left the club to rejoin Wolves in January, as well as providing stiff competition for new recruits Josh McQuoid, Marcus Tudgay and Simeon Jackson.

Despite only joining Swindon for an undisclosed fee, believed to be an initial £100,000 from Charlton, in January, Smith finished the 2013/2014 season with 12 goals in 22 appearances for Mark Cooper’s side.

Swindon today completed the signing of striker John Obika from Tottenham, but have insisted he has been bought in to play alongside Smith, rather than as his replacement.

Nothing happening http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...news/live-transfer-deadline-day-aston-7691453

Over at Coventry we have received an update from our man at the Ricoh Arena (yes, we can call him that now - they're back!) Andy Turner: "All sources at City are singing from the same hymn sheet and that's that nothing's doing at the club tonight.

Despite attempts by Steven Pressley to draft in a target man, it seems he will turn to the loan market when the window opens later this month unless he becomes aware of a free agent that fits the bill.

He's also looking to recruit a centre-half who, along with the striker, will "complete the jigsaw," of his summer recruitment drive. City currently have a former Premier League/Championship defender on a week-long trial with a view to signing. The unnamed triallist is a free agent and played an hour for the Sky Blues Under-21s in a 2-1 defeat at Brentford this afternoon.

As for midfielders Carl Baker and Adam Barton - deemed surplus to requirements by Pressley - it looks as though the pair will remain at the club for the foreseeable future. Both are contracted to Coventry until next summer and there doesn't appear any sign of them moving on tonight.

It had been thought the club may make them offers to pay up the remainder of their contracts, as they did with Gary McSheffrey and Steven Jennings who left 'by mutual consent' on deadline day last year, but nothing has happened so far this evening."
