Put them on the match thread, but will stick them here too.

Well, I would mark it thus.....

Allsop - 6. Not too much to do really and couldn't be faulted for their goal

Clarke - 7. Got forwards well and broke up play on a number of occasions. A bit of sloppy passing and distribution here and there but overall I thought he had a strong game and only when Jackson came on did he get support down that right hand side when we were on the attack.

Haynes - 7. Much quieter game, but was solid and dependable. One fanatastic cross, but today was more about sticking to his defensive duties and he did well.

Webster - 6. Thought he did okay, but the radio had him down as at fault for the goal. Would need to see the replay as I didn't quite spot that. Did seem a very soft goal though.

Johnson - 8. Very strong presence at the back and he obviously got the goal too. Very strong on the ball and in the air. Impressive.

Willis - 7 . Another solid performance and did everything he needed to do.

Fleck - 8. Controlled the midfield alongside O'Brien and kep the City team ticking and moving. Another very impressive display. Not frightened to get stuck in, chase back and make a tackle either.

O'Brien - 8. Love his movement and intelligence both on and off the ball. With Fleck the pair very much controlled the midfield.

Thomas - 6. Worked his socks off but wasn't as influential as the other night and he also needs to work on his strength on challenges. Lost the ball in the 2nd half all too eaily and Yevoil quickly launched a very swift and dangerous counter attack as a result.

Nouble - 8. Started off poorly, but as the game wore on, imposed himslef, showed some nice touches, was strong and quick and was always a thorn in the Yeovil's back four.

McQuoid - 6. Worked hard but a little bit anonymous at times.

Jackson -7 . Very impressive off the bench. Showed great pace and movement and a good deal of intelligence both on and off the ball. A real poacher's goal to boot. Think he and Nouble look like they could be a formidable strike partnership.

Hines - Not really on long enough.

Phillips.- Ditto. As above.

Allsop 6 - Bystander in the main. Did what he needed to with little fuss.

Clarke 6 - Doesn't have the same attacking flair as Haynes on the opposite wing, but we look more solid down the right.

Willis 8 - Thought he was excellent, hardly lost a header and decent distribution.
Webster 7 - Looks happier with two beside him, good experienced head to have. Positioned himself well all day.
Johnson 8 - Body on the line, Konjic-esque performance. He's my hero.
Haynes 6 - Didn't see a lot of the ball, they obviously sent a rough and ugly right back to (successfully) mark him out of the game.

Fleck 7.5 - Played well, always wanted the ball and more importantly played on the front foot. Still has a sloppy pass in him though.
Thomas 6 - Anonymous in the first half largely, had more energy in the second but I think he needs to give us something different; neither here nor there at the minute.
O'Brien 7.5 - Very effective at keeping the ball and turning in tight areas, reminds me of Jay Tabb. Won't be long before one of his runs from deep pays off.

McQuoid 6 - Struggled to get into the game, but not for the want of trying.
Nouble 8 - Played like a donkey for the first ten minutes, but then bucked his ideas up and was very strong. Held the ball up well and brought others into the game. I was dubious about his signing but happily being proved wrong.

Subs
Jackson 7.5 - Showed some very positive touches and intelligent movement. Great to see some of the pace in the side restored after Wilson's exit, should prove a good outlet.
Hines 6 - Solid enough
Phillips 6

Hoping that's Clarke starting to settle into yet another new position.

If he does, no doubt we'll move him and play him somewhere else...

Really? that just surprise me a little. Cannot see any resemblence in the style of play between the two. Would say the only thing they have in common is a very good engine and that they are box to box players.

O'Brien for me is a much silkier, intelligent sort of player to Tabb, is more skilful and has a better pass in him too.

Allsop - 6 - Didn't really have that much to do, made some pretty comfortable saves from some poor Yeovil shots
Clarke - 6 - Decent defensively but needs to offer more going forward in this system
Willis - 7 - Looks as solid as ever, works well in the 3 man centre defence
Webster - 6 - Back three suits him but he still looks like he's got a mistake in him
Johnson - 8 - Excellent as usual, great bullet header and great defensive performance
Haynes - 6 - Got crowded out a lot more in this game, wasn't really given the space to make an impression
Fleck - 7 - Ran the show as usual but got a bit sloppy in the second half. Need to tie him down.
O'Brien - 7 - Looked good again, massive engine and never stopped running about. Wish some of his forward attacking runs would get noticed by his team mates though.
Thomas - 7 - Much improved on last Friday's performance. More of the same please.
McQuoid - 6 - Was doing well until unfair taken out. Would like to see more of him.
Nouble - 7 - Started poorly but was excellent second half. Unlucky to not get his name on the scoresheet.

Jackson - 8 - Was excellent, very much looking forward to seeing more of him in the team. Took his goal well and always looked dangerous. Could score a bucket load in this league.
Hines - 6 - Tidy, didn't do much wrong but wasn't that noticeable either.
Phillips - N/A

Better performance today than against Gillingham in my opinion, continue like this and we'll be a very decent outfit at this level. Unbeaten in 7 and 5th in the league, play up Sky Blues!

Good to see nouble did well :) hopefully him and Jackson will be first choice!

He will be hit and miss but can hold the ball and is strong with his back to goal. Looks fully committed to the team.

Allsop - 6 - Didn't have a great deal to do, think it might have got a hand onto Yeovils shot that hit the bar first half. Still not commanding enough for me, but hopefully will improve.
Clarke - 7 - Playing in yet another position, felt it was an improvement on Gillingham performance specially going forward. Well done keep it.
Willis - 7 - Solid performance looks very sure for his age.
Webster -7 - Looks very comfortable with the protection of two other CBs against him, as he lacks pace on the turn.
Johnson - 9 - Man of the match, strong, confident and a great header.
Haynes - 6 - Did ok, but looked like they had done a job on him after his performance last week.
Thomas -7 - Good performance, kept it going for 90 mins and pass percentage was much improved.
Fleck - 8 - Thought he was superb today, looking like the player we all were hoping he could be. Him O'Brien link up well.
O'brien - 7 - Another busy performance, endless energy and a nice first touch for a player at this level.
Mcquoid - 6 - Thought he worked hard and looked busy but seems to really lack any pace so can't feed of any through balls.
Nouble - 8 - Grew into the game, looking like a great loan for us. Seem to knock it into him on countless occasions, he holds it up and links the play. Touch sometimes a bit heavy, but this is league one.

Subs

Jackson -7 - Looking forward to seeing him fully fit, looks a good signing and has pace.

Hines - n/a - I wonder if there is a clause in his loan that means he has to play some of game. Not a criticism, just a question really.

Phillips - n/a

Crowd - Although disappointing 11,085 thought the atmosphere was excellent. If we can get it up to 15,000 a week with that atmosphere could be a good season for us. Obviously more would be excellent, but feel people have lost hope over recent years.

Thank You everyone for taking the time and trouble to post opinions and ratings.. Really useful thread for those who couldn't attend.. appreciated..

Nouble's lack of goals thus far in his career surprise me; took his goal well against Gillingham, looks strong, holds the ball up well and he has great feet. My only criticism today would be that he should have squared the ball to McCoid first half and he was caught offside needlessly a couple of times.

Thomas was decent. Why he is constantly criticised I don't know.

I would suggest if he played like Haynes did today he would have been pilloried.

Haynes today was very poor.

He looks a bit clumsy at times but everytime he got the ball I felt something could happen.

I agree with each of your assessments except Jordan Clarke. Dog shit yet again. He shouldn't be anywhere near that 1st team. Poor distribution, can't tackle and woeful going forward. Also very lucky not to give away a couple of clumsy and needless penalties. Phillips all day long...or Hines!

Anyway, onto the positive stuff. The 3 centre halves were magnificent, Webster and willis have both found another level this season and I imagine it's to do with the commanding figure of Reda alongside them. O'Brien and Fleck were great in the middle and despite an improved performance from Conor (his best for a while) I'd still like to see Swanson start in his place. Up front there really is some competition brewing! Tudgay has missed his chance with his shite start, I'm not sure Miller will get a look in and I imagine that McQuoid (who I'm personally a fan of) will return to Bournemouth in January if he isn't starting each week. Jackson and Nouble will be SP's preferred front 2 I imagine. Nouble shows some nice touches for a big man, albeit tries too much sometimes and is definitely a handful.

Positive signs though. Sitting pretty in 5th is fine by me!! :)

Interesting.

What did Haynes do that was poor may I ask?

Thought Yeovil set out to try to mark him out the game and crowd him out and to a large degree that worked. Defensively though I felt he was very sound and even though he wasn't much of a threat going forwards I don't recall him missing tackles or misplacing passes.

What did he do that was poor?

Been a number of 6's for him tonight and I would say that is about right. He was just okay. Not great going forwards, but sound in defence. I gave him 7 as I thought he did really well from a defensive stance. Can't see how he ccan be described as poor at all myself?

Defensively he was vulnerable. Clarke defensively gets back and provides more adequate cover as a wingback. His distribution was woeful. He made over 20 misplaced passes in the game and towards the end looked fairly despondent.

He is only young and it is what it is. Most people on here have him a six. I can assure you if Thomas made as many wayward passes as Haynes today he would have been slaughtered on here.

Well I didn't think Thomas played well today. Thought he was much better against Gillingham. First half in that game he totally controlled the midfield. Today was a more workmanlike performance.

Haynes made over 20 misplaced passes? Seriously?

We must have been at a different game then. I may have missed 1 or 2, but 20? I thought though not a threat, he hardly put a foot wrong all game long. He was just nullified.

I will always view wing backs as defenders principally and judge accordingly. Johnson got him out of jail a fair bit today.

Thomas had a reasonable game and today his pass ratio and pitch coverage was good.

People can have preconceptions though. Tudgay was poor last Friday but today mcquoid was equally ineffective yet gets praised for work rate . He was poor .

I agree on McQuoid. Ran around a lot and worked hard but offered nothing. Thought Jackson put in a much superior performance and was much more dangerous and threatening.

I have a theory on the Thomas dislike if you want to hear it.

Many supporters look for the following sorts of traits in a player to get them salivating. The following traits are eyecatching and exciting to watch.

1. 40 yard defence splitting passes.
2. Crunching tackles
3. Silky skills
4. Dribbling past players.
5. Pace.
6. Great crosses.
7. Great shooting ability.

Thing is, the game of football is the sum of many parts and in a team alongside players who do some or all of the above, you also get players who do all the 'donkey work' of just tidying up, keeping things ticking over, covering ground and marking and allowing other players in the team to shine and do what they do best.

These sorts of players don't get noticed as much and a lot of what they do goes by unseen.

I recall back in the Gordon Milne days Barry Powell got a lot of stick for 'not doing a lot' but he was a vital cog in the team and was even made captain

Now not saying that vital cog has to be Conor Thomas, but you do need that sort of player in the team for the most part to allow the likes of O'Brien and Fleck to do what they do and express themselves.

Just think alot of what Conor Thomas does is not spectacular or stand out and therefore some see him as anonymous.

i really rate thomas, i dont think formation suits him but hes a fit lad in a 4-2-3-1 hes far more comfortable, he does have to work on his confidence with the ball at his feet, he'll be fine hes learning

Allsop 6 Looks just about ok - worries me on the whole.

Clarke 7 - Settling into his new position nicely. Lacks quality in the final 3rd with his deliveries into the box.

Willis 8 Commanding preformace and comfortable in possession, impressed with his progress
Webster 8 Positioning and heading were excellent
Reda 8 Great goal, real leader and looks like a top signing from SP
Haynes 6 Not his best game as I think after Gills 1st half on TV teams are using tactics to stop him going forward and crossing. Still did nothing wrong.

Fleck 8 Some wayward passing, but he does make us tick in the middle of the park and 8/10 times his long range passing is top draw
Thomas 7 Looked good and if he can add composure to his game we will have a excellent midfield 3.
Obrien 8 Impressed with how integral he is already. Does not give the ball away too often either.

Mcquid 4 Average player and not an instinctive forward. He needs to improve or I would let him go back to Bournmouth in Jan and use his wages to get someone in with more impact on games.
Nouble 8 Strong hold up play and also made some intelligent runs off their defenders shoulders. Jackson and him could be great.

Subs
Jackson 7 - Speed and quite strong in the air for his size. Looks like a poacher in the box too. Good signing.
Hines 6
Phillips 6

I notice Clarke getting a lot of 6's and a few 7's
I would say he looks like a player who realises there's 40+ games a season, so he's giving it 80-90%
He can definitely raise his game if he has to.
If he plays every game with that same standard that's fine by me.
In contrast, Reda Johnson's giving it 95-100% each game and i hope he don't get injured

He just needs to work on his passing, not that he fails to find the target but for example today clarke would be running down the wing and hed just pass to feet when he needed a pass to run on to and as a result lost all his running momentum and the attack loses all its pace.

So basically you are saying Thomas doesn't do any of these things.

So he isn't a great passer or dribbler, he doesn't have pace, can't really shoot, not a great tackler and can't cross.

Is your post meant to be in defence of Thomas?

From my view in block 18 row JJ I saw it as follows;

Alsopp - 5. Very little to do but not quite sure he is the man. Good shot stopper but flaps at crosses and doesn't come outside 6 yard box. Couldn't do anything for the goal tbf.

Clarke- 6. Done ok but lucky not to give away that penalty we all saw. Always tries but Phillips for me.

Willis- 7 hope he isn't badly injured he is a talent. Very young and willing. Quality CB.

Webster- 7 done well but switched off for the goal sadly. Still had a good game and looked solid. Just the odd mental lapse.

Johnson- 9. My motm. What a signing. Didn't miss a header all day and what a bullet header for the goal. No one gets past him and what a leader. Some great runs also. Simply Awesome. Cult hero already.

Haynes- 6. Hard to live up to Friday night but done his job and got forward and offer more from the left than Clarke on the right.

Thomas- 6 not his worst game but he offers very little. Doesn't do one thing very well so goes unnoticed. He will never score a goal IMO. Always tries 100% but lacks any quality. Swanson for me or even Barton dare I say.

Fleck - 8 ran the midfield for me. Superb and needs to sign a new contract ASAP. Got a great left foot and tackles hard and passes well. Great performance.

O'brien - 8. Fans favourite and one of mine. Offers great link up between midfield and attack. Some fantastic runs and a great cross especially for the corner and redas goal. Great display.

Noble- 8. Great performance. A much needed target up front and for a huge man he has great skill and touch. Clearly a goal threat and set up Jackson's goal from his shot. Standing ovation and rightly so.

Mcquiod- 5. Just didn't happen today. Very similar to tudgay last week. Shame. He is an honest footballer. Tries hard. Took a heavy knock and taken off for Jackson.

Jackson 8 - played a very good second half. Only got back Thursday I think from Canada. Very quick and great goal. I love goals like his where he anticipates the goalkeeper error and/or save and nips in. Sign of a good striker. Him and noble for scunthorpe now. Perfect match.

Thanks guys. Great win today an no joke but I keep on looking at the league table. I enjoy it.
