Among many reasons, the most basic is the whole principle of buying a failing business to turn it around, decreasiung costs while increasing revenues.
No movement on rent since 2005 despite being asked by various parties. Arguably this is because ACL have the monopoly on Stadium provision, so there's no need for them to move. The way to get them to move is to break the monopoly position... and it did indeed see progressive movement where previously there was none.

SISU lied to them. They told the FL that they were getting kicked out of the Ricoh.....and that was about the time that they started the rent strike. Do you remember that the FL eventually admitted how early the talks between the two started.
So there was a valid reason because of SISU lying?

The Ricoh was unviable, it was move or die. Did we want our club to be around in 20-50 years time, or carry on as they were and probably go out of business in a year’s time?
The clock was ticking on us being wound up before SISU saved the day. And that, despite SISU also absorbing £millions of debt in the ensuing years, the club had continued to haemorrhage money.

And yes, it was perfectly valid to drive down costs to an affordable level.

Drive down costs? They even turned down rent free for a certain period and then cheaper than Northampton. It would have earned them more money paying the original rent than being in Northampton with record low gates. So where does the affordable level come from? And this is without losing what could easily be millions in litigation.

The rent was only about 10% of our outgoings. It was the extortionate wages being paid to average players that was doing our club. The rent didn't help of course. But you can't blame it for putting our club where it was. And now the games played by SISU has lost our club our home.

I still maintain that the suxfields rent deal is the worst one in the clubs history. Sub 2000 crowds at a greatly reduced price and depending on who you believe possibly a large amount of freebies. Couple that with loss of merchandise sales and fans following NOPM until SISU out it's done more damage to CCFC finances than anything CCC or ACL OR Higgs or whoever else you want to blame but the blame for the worst rental deal in the clubs history lays solely with SISU.
Haven't read the whole thread, but are we talking about SISU buying CCFC Ltd? Where is CCFC Ltd now and where are the increased revenues?

SISU were making out as though no offers had been made. So ACL made the offer through the FL. SISU still tried to make out as though no offer had been made. And people like you either fell for it or are trying to spin the truth.

Surely whether it's a valid reason or not depends on your point of view? The only valid reason I can think of for moving to Northampton would be a set of circumstances that would have left the Ricoh unusable. It was swallowed by a sink hole, it had burnt to the ground, it was hit by a tornado or even ACL had locked us out (which they didn't). SISU never had a valid reason IMO just excuses that the FL bought into.

if only there'd been a bit more empathy when it came to various positions, we might have been better equipped to combat and move forward. Alas, the tendency is to put fingers in ears and just shout NOOOOO.
After all, there are valid reasons for Wasps to move to the Ricoh, and the council to sell to them. Doesn't mean I have to agree with them or support them.
Alas, some seem incapable of grasping that.
Incidentally, the more the arguments revolve around the financial, the more people whether wittingly or not, validate SISU's entire strategy.

So when they had the offer they immediately realised that the club had lied and forced them back. If not why not?
As for fell for it you believed the Lucas spin that the club could buy a half share. The likes of you and dongle are gold dust to the council.
