Can someone move this thread to Other Sports?

No CCFC fan cares less about how many they will get.

Sorry Wingy, you talking about leicester tigers?

Yes Stu.not suggesting loyal long term Tigers fans are going to jump ship, far from It but a fair few from our own business community go along and It can be very difficult to get tickets etc.

The major strength In this deal for the Interlopers Is going to be ccorporate and Sponsorship IMO .

A big enough driver In It's own right .

Perhaps like us in the midlands they are more football orientated and not that interested in rugby.

Look at the amount of football teams we have in the West Midlands - cov, Walsall, villa, Birmingham city, wolves, west Brom, the we have a strong midlands non league scene.

I can't see people travelling from
Brum week in week out to see a team they have affinity with.

Yep, and I think they will be able to attract some students too.

And to kind of add to my earlier post, that a number of rugby fans in north warwickshire are likely to have an affinity with Tigers and south warwickshire Northampton and Worcester.

No this in the CCFC section -- what has it to do with us?

What have Rooney,ROI,and goggleboxjust three of the threads recently got to do with us? Yet a thread about our new landlords gets you upset the fact that they might have some sort of influence on our future is totally lost on you. I think I can guarantee that in your position you will attend at least on more Wasps event than I will and I'm not attending any.

They could be Stu If our brand wasn't so weak.

It's not as tribal as us who go on the terraces across the midlands ,It's more respectful /sporting In approach ,well done to the losers and all that .

Me I had my first taste of It at low level due to Fisher last season, loved It ,a relief to spend an afternoon away from the Shit fest that has become our club.

Nothing more than enjoying the company I was In and no emotional tie other than willing them to win ,no matter If they lost.

According to the Independent attendances dropped last year:

From march this year

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...t-best-players-and-bigger-crowds-9223856.html

The demand for change coincides with the negative news that more than half the teams in the Aviva Premiership have suffered a fall in attendances this season compared with the record levels of four years ago.

London Irish, London Wasps, Newcastle Falcons, Northampton Saints, Sale Sharks, Saracens and Worcester Warriors have each seen crowds drop for regular home matches compared with the boom year of 2009-10, when the Premiership had its record average attendance since leagues began in 1987.

Wasps have been hardest hit, with the average crowd at Adams Park tumbling from 8,542 in 2009-10 to 5,759 this season, a 32.58 per cent reduction.

Even at the four clubs where crowds have risen – Bath (plus 1.87 per cent), Gloucester (8.69 per cent), Harlequins (10.31 per cent) and Leicester (0.6 per cent) – their stadiums are often short of being sold out.

Premiership Rugby can confirm that crowds rose by an impressive 3.1 per cent, with an average attendance of 12,252 - up from 11,889 compared in the 2012-13 season.

A total of 1,617,278 supporters attended fixtures during the 22 rounds of the regular league season, up from 1,569,298 last year.

"In challenging economic times, this is a remarkable result for the clubs in the Aviva Premiership," said Dominic Hayes, commercial director at Premiership Rugby.

"Most people would agree this Aviva Premiership Rugby season has been one of the most exciting to date with more than 500 tries and the average winning margin still the lowest in the world game.

Is that glowing commentary from an impartial source?

Bloody hell you are obsessed with Wumming
And very rarely use the word appropriately.

Wumming is someone on the wind up not someone who has a different opinion to you.
Or someone who is surprised that some brummies at his workplace said they are excited about getting to watch top level rugby at the Ricoh

To be honest Don, I'm inclined to go with the Independent tbh. Wasps grasp of figures don't give me much confidence.

Was that the proper Coventry rugby club?

I don't think it's reliable as I don't think they ran the figures by you first. They forgot the golden rule...

Well it was the Aviva homepage wasn't it?

Also the devil is in the detail. The top 5 teams have had 300,000 people through the gate and the remaining 7 teams around 150,000. The bottom 7 average 7,140 fans to date this season - including Wasps

Just because its the commercial director of premiership rugby. That doesn't mean he is allowed to lie.
First of a you want stats from the future.
Then when you get current stats you disbelief them, what's the point?

I don't disbelieve them -- but the majority get well below 12,000 and that is a fact

I don't know how popular they will be. I expect they will get a huge gate for the first game, then it will taper off. In the longer term, gates will increase as they attract new fans local to the area. However, most of their revenue will come from other Ricoh-related business (including CCFC).

No, I expect it to be high initially 7-8k, then drop down to 5-6k. The league average may be 12k, but last season Wasps only averaged 5.7k.

Leicester have been playing in Leicester for 130 years, they have been the premier rugby club of the midlands for years, they have built up a very strong fan base of year and years of tradition.

Given the choice I would sooner travel to leicester to watch them than go to the Ricoh to watch wasps.

What effect do you think the Rugny world Cup will have on gates- especially if England win it in England next year? I would say Rugby Gates gates will go up and Wasps will benefit.

It would be interesting to see what our Timmy's estimate would be on the average crowd size. He's quite the expert in these circles.

You've said the same elsewhere Mr Grange.

Really? My Observation, here in my pub in Germany, is that rugby fans don't wear their team's colours when they watch a TV game ( except internationals ), whereas a lot of football fans do. Die HSV Fans come Mainly to watch HSV. Rugby fans watch good Quality rugby- whoever is playing. The team ( which I Sponsor ) has various nationalities, and they seem to just enjoy the game and the Social side of it. Bremen and St Pauli Fans don't come in the Pub ( or rather Never show their "colours" in the pub ). So, football seems to be very tribal and rugby not so.

They'll be more local/new fans turning up for Wasps than when CCFC were in Norfampton, even after all the free tickets were given out by Timmy.

Now let's carry on by saying how Great sisu are to keep Grendel happy.

I'd forgotten about the World Cup. All depends on how England do, if England win it then attendances will go up, if not there may be small increase in be first few games in the season the tail off. Also it may not have as much impact here as the city's who are hosting it.

I would say any significant increase in wasps attendance off the back of the World Cup will see a decrease at ccfc and CRFC. But who cares, as we all love a franchise.

So you want them to succeed and CCFC to fail.

Nice one.

I don't agree that CCFC gates will suffer because of Wasps. They will go Down because of mediocre League 1 football ( if things don't change soon
). Wasps will bring New people to the Ricoh. Some city fans will go to Wasps because City no longer offers quality and/or Entertainment - not just because wasps are there. They would have stopped going to City anyway

Well now wasps are likely to have 100% of the Ricoh and we continue to be on a rent no/little access to revenue deal then we're likely to be in league one for a considerable amount of time. We will become a league one-championship yo yo club at best.

I think our gates could suffer, but it's easier to blame sisu than wasps. Interesting you don't mention the impact off cov rugby.

So much for our community based sport clubs. I hope wasps stay here is a disaster, and no ccfc fan attends. I certainly won't be making an effort to make them feel welcome.
