I cant believe there is even a topic about us signing a convicted rapist.
Seeing as its here, no, not a chance, my opinion.
But if it is going to be considered, offer him a contract on the proviso he wins his appeal. The guy will only be bad news if he dosnt, win or lose he will be totally slaughtered from the terraces at every game it would be demoralising for him and his teammates.
These guys are supposed to be role models, lead by example, fuck off keep him as far away from our club as possible!

Most criminals who have done their time would not be in huge demands for employment when they get out and the argument regarding rehabilitation is absurd. If he was a Purchasing or Marketing manager for example no employer would touch him with a barge pole.

I'm not protecting Ched Evans but the system has punished him and everyone has a right to move on. His profession is a footballer and going back to that profession seems the best way he can move on.
I would rather see his appeal finalised first and either his name cleared or if not he gives an unreserved apology for his crime and accepts his guilt. Then he must be allowed to move forward. Had this been an aggravated rape such as a knife to the throat and dragged in the bushes we would be rightfully more concerned.
We really must stop witch hunts, prejudices and political points scoring clouding reality and judgements. The legal system is not perfect - they sometimes get it wrong too. Not suggesting they have but it was never a slam dunk case tbf. You can't continue to punish the young lad forever.

He then apologies
Then he gets in with his life??


If he does not apologies now, then appeals
Loses the appeal, then apologises, do you seriously think that apology will be accepted??
Then you think he should just crack on?


Do you know how hard it is to. Get convicted of rape in the UK?

The only reason I would like us to consider signing him up is if he banged(pardon the pun) in a shed full of goals even Steve Waggott would have difficulty selling him on.

I wasn't there, I don't know what happened to know if they got it won't.

Just from stuff i have read in papers it makes out there was some doubt.

For Clayton McDonald to be cleared and Ched Evans to be convicted was plain crazy. McDonald still plays football, yet I doubt any of the fans that have seen him play would*remember him being part of this case.

<font color="Black">The girl in question walked into the hotel room with McDonald, before being seen on CCTV walking back out of the Premier Inn, and then subsequently returning to the hotel with pizza in hand. She then claims the next morning that it was non-consensual and that she couldn't remember a thing. The CCTV tells a different story. Her and McDonald then partake in sexual activity, and then Evans turns up. McDonald claimed he asked the girl whether Evans could join in, to which she agreed.

<font color="Black">The mistake they made was leaving the girl in the hotel room and going back to Evans house after having sex with her. She then woke up the next day and filed the case.

<font color="Black">I don't condone Mcdonald or Evans actions that evening, and taking advantage of a girl who is clearly drunk is not cool at all, however I can understand that if offered sex, young lads will more often than not jump at the chance. I also doubt she was as drunk as she claims she was, as CCTV clearly shows her walking in high heels unaided, pizza box in hand.

<font color="Black">But for Evans to have done 5 years for this 'crime' is absurd. The more I read about the case, the more ridiculous the actual conviction seems. If he ever returns to professional football, which I believe he will, he will be hounded by fans everywhere he goes, whereas McDonald has carried on his career without anyone batting an eyelid.

Also the thing about the tweets she made about her winning big and buying a mini. Also apparently accused a rugby player too that never happened.

No I'm not saying I know more or that it is even true, or that the outcome is wrong. Like I said before I wasn't there so don't know what happened.

It's hardly questioning just posting about some of the articles about it. There was one I posted that had the victims name so I removed it where it had screenshots of her tweeting about winning big and buying a pink mini. Again could be totally fabricated.

Jurys do sometimes get things wrong so by saying that it did happen because the jury said so is not always the case. The same as guilty people get away with things.

Just need to see the fella in jail for years for the jill danda murder as an example.

At the end of the day going off his football ability then yes any club at this level should sign him , after all isnt that what his job is , a footballer .

............. and the Yorkshire Ripper was a very good lorry driver, but I don't think I'd want him driving for me if ever he was released!

It's called the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974. He is entitled to seek employment in his chosen profession upon release providing it isn't exempt. That he will do, and somebody will choose to employ him. Probably Sheff. United, and we can all boo him merrily as he bangs in a couple against us.

Can understand people not wanting him here - but spare us the moral indignation. It also surprises me how much blind faith some people have in the criminal justice system. If only life were that black and white.
