Ricoh Open Day ... This is how to do it. (7 Viewers)

Just for the record
I never abused anybody for going.
I did pressure them not to go by saying they were supporting Sisu plan of stressing ACL by being there. Which is proven in court.

As on the franchise argument.
Sisu did it solely to make money for themselves whilst Wasps are building a home for their fanbase, which can be argued is insufficient in London but potentially substantial here.
Evidently, just moving here gives them the highest turnover in the Premiership.
It also gives them security here as don't forget their lease at Adams Park was up at the end of the season.

Again, I didn't say abuse. I said stick....

So it was proven in court that anybody who went to Sixfields was supporting a SISU plan?

Get a fucking grip, your shit is straight from the council handbook. You go on about others blindly following yet come on here repeating their propaganda. Sounds like RFC is to SISU.

It is a franchise, you have just said they moved to where a bigger fanbase was, nothing to do with money though eh? ;)

Coventry already has a rugger club though. If they also like rugger why would they go to watch Wasps and not the Coventry club? How many that are saying that they are going to watch Wasps already go to watch the club we already have in Coventry?

I live a 10 minute walk from Premiership Rugby.
Why would I go to the pain of travelling and parking to watch a 3rd Division Rugby Club, particularly when they play at the same time as my football team.

Not saying I will watch many matches as they probably will clash with Keresley Ladies, who incidentally get cheap tickets.

I shudder to think what the response would be on here, if SISU had control of the Ricoh and had then bought Wasps in.....

Unfortunately some people are so entrenched in their views against SISU that they simply will not accept that Wasps being here is, on the face of it, not a very promising looking situation for CCFC (I stand to be proved wrong, but think this is unlikely)...

I recall many posts on here crying about the 'kidnapping' of CCFC and taking them down to Northampton. Funny how the same people think it's ok for the Wasps board to do this (in fact as controversial as the Northampton move was, it was always temporary, and the Wasps deal seems a lot more 'permanent' yet people are happy to defend it).

Franchise, so what, they are doing it to survive not for greed.
Don't forget they nearly folded only a few seasons ago.

People need to stop blaming Wasps and start understanding that the club could have been in the same position but Sisu cocked up.

I have a local football club that is 10 minutes away. I drive past several places that have a team in the football Prem on my way to Coventry. Why don't I watch any of them instead of travelling hours each way and spending lots more cash to watch Division 3 football in Coventry?

Franchise...so what ???? Really? Really? :jerkit:

Hopefully, they actually will fold in Coventry......

....it would of course be better if glory hunting jonny-cum-lately bandwagon jumping twats weren't falling over themselves to throw money at the cunts.......

Still...you enjoy yourself mate....and fuck the real wasps fans stranded 80 + miles away with no club left......

So you are seriously coming on here still having a go at people who went to Sixfields saying they supported SISU's plan while you go on about how you are going to watch wasps? Top fishing.

Nearly as good as the time you were going on about NOPM then running to watch the Arsenal game.

Of course they are doing it to survive, just ask the wasps PR machine that doesn't exist. They might be online later. Your last line does sound very much like the PR machine spiel.

Moving my Club affected me so I'm bound to be critical about it.
Wasps move doesn't affect me negatively and potentially I have another sport I can get interested in, and on my doorstep and at the highest level.

Who knows it might even replace my failing love for the football club, particularly when I have to travel out to the sticks for it.

Nick Eastwood confirmed the hedge fund point. Not therefore interesting, just a fact that doesn't fit your agenda.

He also said there's no PR machine, no decision had been made on dressing rooms, they aren't a franchise and he didn't know what colour the seats were in Wycombe so hardly the most reliable source.

As as to freebies, Wasps are trying to engage with the community, their initiative should be applauded.

I'm sure our own rugby club, the one that is based in our community and has been for 140 years are wildly applauding at the thought of having to compete with thousands of free Wasps tickets.

in my opinion, the ire should not be aimed at Wasps, look closer to home. And I suspect you know that.

Why? Wasps haven't moved here involuntarily and by moving here they have caused long term issues for the football and rugby club already based here.

The Wasps fans appeared initially hugely against it. And now?

I must have missed the thousands of Wasps fans marching through the streets protesting.

Really hoping it is a poor attempt at wumming.

Never mind, we could rely on fans in the new location couldn't we instead? There might be more there so it makes it ok.

Why should I bother about Wasps moving here as much as Sisu moving the club to Northampton?
In Reality, the situation for the Football Club has not changed one iota since Wasps moved in.
They were renting and they are still renting. They have a 2-4 year deal with access to some incomes and they still have.

Sisu have had the chance of buying ACL at market value and decided not to.
Sisu potentially could have been in the same position as Wasps are now but decided to make a play for the freehold instead.

I took you as being much better than this.

I agree that our move to Northampton was bad. I don't know of anyone that disagrees with this. The Wasps move affects us all greatly. Without this our club would have a ground that could be our own once we have better owners. It could end up being the end of our club as we know it. It could mean our club moves away from Coventry. Yet no negativity has supposedly come from it? And then you will be happy because you will have a rugger club to watch in what should be our football clubs home?

How would we ever have a ground that could be our own? Particularly the Ricoh.
New owners would own it and rent it back. Might as well rent it off Wasps/ACL with access to football revenues.
Wasps alluded to that when I spoke to Jeremy Wilton about it on Sunday. Hopefully the stadium talk is just part of Sisu doing that deal but who knows?

CCC could not afford to wait for Sisu to go before the any new owners perhaps made a deal. That's a huge gamble.
We can see Sisu's history, we have no idea what they are up to and as such we don't know the future.

So you know who and what any new owner would do? And yes it would be much better to be part of our club than a club with nothing to do with football.

CCC couldn't afford to wait? I see them as letting the Ricoh go to stop the waste of time and money defending fruitless litigation and not being able to keep up with the finances of the arena. They have taken a massive gamble with the future of our football club. You should be more worried about this than still having Wasps to watch if our club goes tits up.

The mentality of modern fans in a nutshell. Couldn't have seen a better example Italia, so thanks for that.

There not doing it to survive though, you're constantly telling us we can survive and reach the premier league at the Ricoh on a good rent with access to revenues, your own logic dictates that wasps could have negotiated such a deal themselves within London and so they didnt need to move.

Nick, what do you class as "giving stick"?

As I recall many were of the opinion that everyone is free to do as they wish, however attending Sixfields is not helpful to Ccfc.

Is that giving stick?

I am currently of the opinion that if a Coventry person wants to attend rugby then it would be better for the city if they go to Crfc rather than wasps. Is that stick?

As in things like calling them selfish, spineless, no principles, saying they werent city fans if they went etc. All the way up to scab.

Outrage Overload

'Citivision', the propaganda magazine from the EVIL COUNCIL is promoting the WICKED WASPS on page 5 and has a competition to win 2 tickets for the visit of London Irish.
To rub salt into the wounds, it also has a piece about a plaque at Highfield Road - the very same HR that the council FROGMARCHED the Sky Blues out of before forcing them to take up residence at the SOULLESS ARENA OF DOOM.

And the awful news continues ... TRAVEL COVENTRY are running the 101 buses for the Wasps match and more and more SO CALLED Coventry pubs are posting messages on social media welcoming WICKED WASPS fans with open arms!

Someone should knit a protest scarf against it all. :jerkit:

Says the man who has no soul. Has the council included a competition to win tickets for the Fleetwood match?

Its not modern fan mentality.
I've been supporting them since 1967.
I've changed from fighting away fans for my team in my youth to just walking up and enjoying the atmosphere.
You learn to spread your experiences, if your lucky.
Things like CCFC being the only thing to look forward to me in life have long gone and now it is one of many.

I refuse to follow my team out of Coventry particularly if the owners are using my team to make money from the situation.
I have bought 2 season tickets this season believing the stadium issue was over, but I have been deceived as the new stadium is now the plan.

I have plenty I can do in my continued retirement touring the UK and coming back at weekends may not be one of them in future. So bring on Europe.

I have got into Rugby late through my daughter playing and if I can relate at the top level I will go along when I can.

I get fed up of people, who are disappointed that Sisu did not get hold of the stadium and rent it back to the club, fighting their battles for them.
But it happened and I want to see what justification Sisu have for moving us to a new stadium. From them, not the ill informed few that put the case for them.

Nobody is fighting SISU's battles, yet you are on here promoting wasps who have moved their team away to make money and trying hard to justify it... That's for that rugby team that has moved up the country and rent it back to the club....

Some genius posts happening today.

I'm informing you about wasps and pointing out what Sisu should be doing.

I assume Wasps are tenants for ACL as we are but I have seen absolutely nothing to win the fans back from Sisu.
The new stadium is never going to happen on the grounds of land availability and critically cost and all but a few know that.
Hire that room, show people round the stadium, put on some food and talk sense to us.
We know we are here for at least 4 years maybe 5 so this is our home until something changes.
Don't just pick out the favoured few, wind them up and send them out in our direction talking about the colour of curtains and stadium sites that they have not seen..

Where we are is where we are so lets make the most of it,
They need to keep us informed but IMHO they continue to take the piss.

No, you are constantly trying to justify their move with how it was do or die and they had to do it to survive? Give it a few months you will probably think it was a rubbish idea and have digs at people who go.

I'm trying to be positive and move on.
We have to immediately get into bed with Wasps not fight them.
The only stadium we will ever have is the Ricoh so lets talk positive and get back to football.

Anybody else like me waiting for the Sisu court action against CCC for selling to Wasps ?
The crap goes on.

Is it now?

Sorry, it is the modern fan mentality. 'This team plays at the top level, don't mind the 3rd tier one already in the same city' is your attitude. People going to watch a team based on how good they are rather than where that team comes from or how it got to where it is. You refuse to follow your team out of Coventry but have latched onto one that moved much further away from its traditional base, softened up by stadium tours and a free lunch. When the clear hypocrisy in this was pointed out your response was 'Well it isn't bad for me so I have no problem with it'. In other words, the shallow minded, self-interested sports fan now common in 2014.
