The club has been asked to pass on the following email in support of the Bring the Dons Home campaign, a fan group who are trying to mobilise fan and local resident support for the community stadium planning application. As we are working towards the same aim, we are delighted to do so.

Dear Dons fan,

After more than 20 years, the club are on the threshold of turning the dream of a new stadium in Wimbledon into a reality, but every single Wimbledon fan needs to do their part to ensure planning permission is granted.

As you may have already seen, the club have submitted a planning application to Merton Council and the planning consultation period is now open.

We need every single Wimbledon fan to:

• Write to the planning officer in support of the application
AND
• Help BTDH and the club persuade other local residents to write in support of the scheme.

Letters from all our fans will be taken into consideration by the planning officer, but the most important thing we can do to help at this stage is to ensure the officer receives lots of letters and emails in support from the council wards around the stadium site in Merton and Wandsworth.

Some local residents, aided and abetted by the vested interests of the pro-greyhound lobby will be co-ordinating opposition to the stadium proposal. We need to make sure the council is aware of the significant local support for the scheme through direct written submissions.

So get writing and help us persuade as many people as possible to WRITE NOW!

Submissions need to be received by mid-January but the sooner the better - do it before Christmas if you can! You can make your submission online via our website (which is helpful so we can keep track of numbers) or via post, all the details are here . The website also contains a list of the various benefits of the community stadium to local residents and Wimbledon fans, as well as an FAQ for the most commonly asked questions about the plans and the process.

If you signed up to volunteer to help the campaign then you will receive a second email suggesting further ways you can help. If you have not yet volunteered but have some time to help us, please sign up here.

Saturday’s home game against Mansfield will see the official launch of the Write Now! campaign, with help from Wimbledon resident Andy Frampton. And then we have an opportunity around all the press interest in our FA Cup tie with Liverpool to generate significant national and local interest in the stadium application. Let’s all work together to get the planning decision we need to Show Us The Way To Plough Lane,

THE BTDH team.

(Bring the Dons Home is a campaign run by a group of Wimbledon fans who want to make the community stadium a reality. We believe that the community stadium will bring significant benefits to the wider community in SW19)

I received this a couple of weeks ago. For those who think CCFC will die without SISU, AFC Wimbledon is an example to everyone of what may be possible. It also demonstrates that the relationship between owner and supporter is paramount. This email also shows the shortcomings of our owners. Would anyone ever envisage receiving an email of this nature from SISU/CCFC ?

If SISU are serious about building a new ground they could do a lot worse than following AFC Wimbledons example. Starting with trying to build it where it should be and then getting the fan base behind it.

Isn't it nice to see a club asking for the fans help in sorting out a stadium issue?

For nearly 3 years now the stadium issue has been a major concern for the club. At no point in that time have Sisu ever asked us to help the club. Would have certainly helped in getting a few more onside. After all the best way to make a friend isn't to do them a favour, but to ask them to do you a favour.

All Sisu ever want is our money and tell us to keep our noses out of their business.

That email is a brilliant example of club leadership being in touch with the average fan. Sisu have never made any attempt at that.

Has anyone ever received an email from CCFC? I have been a season ticket holder for longer than I care to remember and never received one, even though they have my address. This AFC Wimbledon email is fairytale stuff if you are talking about our owners lowering themselves to communicate with the low life scum that we, no doubt, are.

In my mind, that's a very good thing. I'm tired of receiving spam - and that is what most of the emails would be.
What they could have is a checkbox that says "check if you want to receive email from CCFC". And it should be unchecked by default. Maybe you never checked the box?

Nothing personal guys but CCFC fans (the Trust?)could do well to create a formal link to AFCW. Both clubs have suffered from ''sports franchises'' but AFC have - frankly - mobilised their supporter base better than CCFC. AFC took control of their situation after the despicable work of Winkie. Whereas CCFC supporters still seem to ''have things done to them''.

Maybe AFC can help you a bit? In a show of support back you could boycott all matches involving franchised teams?

TBH I think the people of MK deserve their own team at the level it can sustain, it was the way it was achieved that was the issue.
Winkie should have took over Bletchley Town FC and financed its promotion into the football league, that is the proper & ethical way.

But the spat between AFC and MK is all but over now.. AFC do not boycott MK matches, though I'm sure they reserve a special and properly disrespectful chant just for them when they meet.

MK is absolutely hated by Wimbledon supporters.
Events may have overtaken me on this now but I do recall neither club can claim on their records to have won the F.A. Cup in 1988. That club has ceased to exist and so cannot be claimed by either. The 1988 F.A. CUP honours effectively was until recently never been rightfully given to either club by the F.A, though it's possible that has changed (though I doubt it )

Should CCFC go in similar circumstances then any phoenix club to emerge would not be able to claim the 1987 honours.

I do speak to the guys down there a fair bit. Been to two of their games so far this season and I'm likely to do a few more before the end. Always found them very helpful and are only a phone call away if we (or any other club with issues for that matter) need assistance.

Is it me or are other 'Trusts' seem a little more proactive that ours? or is it more that they have better backing from supporters???

There are only two sites for a possible stadium in coventry , the sphinks ground or butts. SISU are trying to do a Bryan richardson, find some land, sell the idea of a retail park. And the retail stores finance the stadium. Why did the coventry city fans trust not try to buy a of share in the ricoh like the chelsea fans brought shares in the bridge
