Or more likely were not bothered. Reasonable team in th PL and a fantastic stadium planned.
What could go wrong?

Er.....??

The reason SISU turned up in the first place because we were about to go to the wall due to being run so welll....

It's probably the same affliction that makes people think we were run like a model football club until SISU walked in the door....
Just exactly what "Model Club" are we being run like now then? We all knew how the Club was being run before SISU took command. At least previous owners took the stance of "If not enough talented players at the Club..Buy some" hence 34 years in the Top division. Some of you who slag off previous owners yet "Run off at the mouth about us not having players like Keane, Dublin, etc. Don't forget that to have talent like that, you need to INVEST, not ASSET STRIP. ffs!!! rant over. Apologies if you think I've gone OTT, but there's the vast majority on here that have "Double standards" when it comes to previous owners and the "Shower of s**t" that we have at present!

I can't remember him saying it is now a model club?

Yes you need to spend big money when you want top players, especially big money you don't have...

Robbie Keane, what an excellent example you give us.
He was bought for £5m and sold after just one season for £13m.
So even past owners were forced to put money over talent.

@ Nick....My reply to Ian1779 is a legitimate one. What sort of "Model Club" does he think we're being run like under SISU. Not a difficult question is it?

Also the assett stripping mcginnity undertook post relegation in 2000 would have even made seppella blush. The notion the club was run by people who cared for it is a fallacy.

Can you link us to the quote - I think it's a bit inaccurate.
Not the part 'we are debt free' - he did say that, but the £20m part.

Anyway, the club did spend money in that region the first three years (so your quote may be correct) - and got us right back in the financial mess in the process!
It's not simply that spending money will guarantee success, is it?

Oh for administration back then. SISU's turning up has set the club back 7+ years IMO.

Yes I'm sure if Geoffrey's consortium had took us on we'd be in the Champions League by now.

I doub't we'll ever get in the champions league but do you think things would have been worse than they are now? The one thing we'll never know is who and how many offers we would have recieved for the club in the position it was in at the time and its not like SISU saved us from admin as that came later and when we were a less attractive prospect.

So yes we were set back when SISU took over and worse than that we have no clear vision of moving forward from where we are.

There was one other option to purchase. Sisu were the councils preferred option and if the other option was taken then I think the club would have ceased to exist very quickly

Before admin, not during as it didn't happen at that time. Being in admin is a game changer and you have no way of saying who would and wouldn't have come into the scene if we had of gone into admin back then without making things up.

@ Godiva... Is this good enough for you? Coventry City FC History 7 Nov 2011 ... The club was founded in 1883 by Willie Stanley, an employee of cycle firm Singers. .... a deal was struck with SISU, a consortium led by former footballer Ray Ranson. ... his plans to make £20 million available to move the Football Club forward. .... "We will try and get several transfers completed by today. www.ccfc.co.uk/club/history/..........................Also Godiva, you were very quick to point out only 1 season for Keane before being sold for double money. Pity you have "Selective Blindness" when it comes to 3 others players off the top of my head...Dion Dublin bought £2m..Sold FOUR YEARS later for £5.75m......Darren Huckerby bought £1m..sold THREE years later £6m....Noel Whelan..bought £2m....sold FIVE years later for £2.2m.......That to me says good business...SISU have made regular Faux pas' by buying good players but letting them walk away for f**k all at end of their contracts...Bad business wouldn't you say?

If change of ownership or the deal for the ricoh had worked? either way, who knows.

Haskell had no money so would we be actually be any better off. And if we had bought into ACL, that would of been better than where we are now surely??

Fingers in ears time for some on this thread again I see.

Yes Haskell didn't have the money to put into our club. But neither does Joy, Waggott or Fisher. It isn't their money. Haskell knows money people. I am not saying it would have worked or happened with him taking over. But just looking for excuses to have a go at people not in bed with SISU is a joke. If it would have happened would he have been as bad or even worse than SISU? Anyone would struggle to be worse.

Are you trying to say that if we had gone into admin instead of taking SISU our club would have ceased to exist?

Who is having a go at anyone? All i am saying is they are as much a part of the problem as to where we are as SISU or the council are.

They are not the savours and never will be. That is only my opinion and i would love them to prove me wrong. We would all like new owners but until they approach sisu direct instead of trying to go through fans groups then they will never be taken seriously and nothing will change

He had about 15% maybe 17% (I don't remember the exact percentage but can look it up if important).
So he was a shareholder, chairman of the board and CEO. Too many positions - especially CEO and chairman is a poor mix as the chairman usually hires and fires the CEO.

BTW - if Hoffman and Elliott were particular unhappy with sisu they wouldn't sit around with responsibilities (and accountability) for three years. Surely it don't take that long to figure out what sisu are?
They resigned when they ran out of money and options.

They all left our club when they saw what SISU were going to do to our club and didn't want anything to do with it all. They went from one extreme to the other. Gluttony one minute and starvation the next.

Is this the same SISU that made the statement that they won't sell at the bottom? We could have a long wait as we don't even know if we have hit the bottom yet.

Like they didn't want anything to do with closing the academy?

I don't think we have hit rock bottom yet and am not sticking up for SISU in the slightest.

If there are consortiums out there willing to buy the club, why are they not approaching the club direct rather than do things through an anonymous protest group?

Are we on a fault picking thread Nick?

If not then keep to topic. If we are then for the first time ever why don't you pick out the faults with SISU instead of looking for the faults with anyone else ;)

Because said protest group are spinning incorrect stuff and personal opinions as fact to get the people going....

Reminds me of the kids at school who always try and start fights by saying "he said this about your mum"

Wait a minute, I thought you were replying about Elliott and Hoffman, I replied with something about them? Is that not allowed now if it goes against the picture you are trying to paint?

When you find posts from me trying to paint SISU in a good light, you are quite welcome to post their faults.

And while we are picking faults, it wouldn't be "the first time ever" would it?

We all know that if SISU were to let our club go now that they would want too much money for what our club is worth. All our club is now is a name and the history that comes with it. And the golden share with a position in Division 3. Clubs in a better position get sold for a quid. As usual there will be people interested once SISU give up and our club is available for nothing.

Don't they get sold for a quid because they have loads of debt and they take it all on?

That is what is normally negotiated on. How much debt did SISU ever pay back?

Who has ever said they don't mean things when using a wink?

Think you have been reading too many of LAST and BHSB's posts. No doubt you can see the imaginary people worshipping SISU and doing this every time they see Tim Fisher?

Haven't the club said that no one has made an approach for them? I guess that would be a start point. Someone puts a bid in. It gets rejected and then they talk until they find a suitable solution or the bidding party walks away.

If none of that happens, you can't moan about sisu not want to sell. The posts on FB the other day about Fisher in sainsburys, apparently it was said Joy would sell so why has no consortium contacted them directly?

Because it is just bullshit to wind the fans up from other fans, while shouting about SISU bullshitting the fans. People are so angry they can't see that though.

They came out with the statement that the club wasn't for sale at the bottom of the cycle whilst all the takeover talk crap was going on. It wasn't as though they said that they would listen to offers.
