Attendances if sisu were to leave tomorrow (13 Viewers)

Sue everyone until they win?

Wait until Wasps goes wrong, and they can pick up the ground even cheaper?

Go into partnership with Villa as their feeder club, and get a ground built for them in Merevale?

1. I can't believe they are pinning everything on a 100 to 1 shot
2. Even if Wasps went bump it doesn't mean they will get the stadium
3. I genuinely felt physically ill when I read that

when we were in Northampton people were saying a move back to the ricoh would see average crowds of 12-15k.
sisu's stadium plans don't allow for much bigger gates than that - which is probably a reflection on the direction they see the club going - league 1 football.
it is going to be success on the pitch (not who owns the club) that dictates crowds. which ownership can bring that success is another question.

@ tisza......A sell out crowd for the return to the Ricoh against Gillingham. Immediately Fisher opened his big fat gob and says "We are still going to build our own Stadium. Next game the attendance dropped to 11k and 10k and.....I'll let you fill in the gates from there. I firmly believe gates would have been a lot higher. New owners and a definitive injection of funds to buy decent players would see us getting 18-22k gates easily, proggressing to the high20's if promotion is gained....Onwards and upwards with the right people in charge :)

IMO it would add no more than 2.5-3k to the gate. The end of the day we're 20th in league and in real danger of relegation. "I'm not paying £22 to watch shit league one football, will be the excuse.

If people have got out the habit and found other things to do on Saturday, they're not likely to come back and get back in the habit.

It's not an excuse it's a fact. Why would you pay £22 to watch shit league one football.

I hate how some fans think we should turn up every game to watch shit and lose every game. Winning football is always the biggest catalyst for increased attendances. For example if we stayed up this season and we were top 2 of league 1 by xmas next year with sisu in charge crowds would be 15k plus.

My opinion for this thread is for craigsba is I will always care about ccfc and always want us to win but the losses don't hurt as much and I am not arsed if I go or not as I am genuinely bored. It's so boring it's scary. I always want us to win and all that though and that will never go. The owners have taken the life out of the club and people simply don't care now. That's why fans don't go anymore it's because they don't care and haven't got a reason to go.

Give me one reason why we should all go and pay £15-24 to watch crap football and to haven't won at home for 3-4 months in the coldest months of the year? Other than being a city diehard then there isn't one.

It's not an excuse, it's a reason. One of the many reasons any reasonable owner would want to address. All the missing fans need is something to turn their eye. A decent team would be a good start but combined with new owners could be quite effective.

Yeah that's why we only got 10k for the fleetwood game £10 adults, £1 kids, I took 4 extras that day. There have been plenty of offers this season.

If if if if if.

If we get knew owners, If we spent £10m on a striker, if we're too of the league by Christmas, if they give me a free ticket, if they chauffeur drive me to the game, then I might consider going....

Bottom line is:

If we don't get paying fans in, there's no money to invest in the team, if we don't invest in the team, then your struggle to have a winning team, less paying fans.

That only proves that some people won't pay to go and watch shit regardless of how much you discount that shit.

Harsh in my opinion Stupot. People can only take so much, especially if you have kids and you are pretty much dragging them there.

So cost has little bearing? Therefore moaning about the price is just enough excuse?

I agree with the course of action new owners would take will affect attendances also , but my point is the vast majority of people claim they dont go because of sisu , so surely a decent upturn in attendances would be expected

When they finally go I will get a ST. I won't be able to use it much because of shift work but it will put a couple of quid in the kitty. But I will take time off work for the first game.

I am having to drag them and my grandad there, and we have ST's.

It is shit, but it's a spiral of shit, and the bottom line is less paying customers = lower wage bill.

Edit: on reflection it was a bit harsh, I suppose just pointing out that if Sisu left tomorrow, there won't be a huge flock of fans coming back. We had this discussion about what would happen if we returned to the ricoh, and some predicted 14-15k as people will have realised how much they missed us.

And for the record I'm seriously considering Not renewing next season.

Noble. But the bottom line is that people will only take so much shit. That goes for friends and even family so it certainly applies to footy loyalty. If they show no love or even respect to fans, they will only receive it for so long. To expect anything else is just not realistic.

Edit: posted Before your edit.

I would think its more than just one REASON people aren't going from off field events, cost, crap football and the fact that SISU are still here.

I find it hard to believe that if SISU did one and the quality of football improved numbers wouldn't improve regardless of whether it's £10 or £22 pound a ticket.

You can keep blaming fans in imaginative ways until the cow's come home but it doesn't alter the fact that SISU are part of the problem not the cure.

Come on SBK, the crowd didn't drop to 11k because fisher opened his mouth.

Never said they weren't. But until someone buys the club off them, we're stuck with them.

This will probably be the first season since the early eighties that I don't go to a single game. I'm not a NOPM. Just can't be arsed to waste my time, Pressley's football is shocking, the owners are clowns, even the local council turned against us. It just don't feel like the same club anymore.
At England games I meet City fans I've known for years and they feel the same.
I used to go home and away, everywhere, never considered myself 'loyal' in the superior way some do. Footballs been good to me, I've met some amazing people over the years, made lifelong friends, had some memorable days and nights and been part of a culture that's sadly barely recognisable anymore.
I hope something happens to reignite the passion of the thousands of people like me that are proud Cov and always will be.

SISU leaving would not have much of an effect on attendances, I guess it would go up a bit as some are staying away until they are gone but in the end it is only results on the pitch that really effect attendances

Well you have two choices then. 1) accept they're not going anywhere and accept a declining fan base. Or 2) speak out about it at any and every opportunity. Whether that's venting your anger about what they're doing to our club on here, twitter, CET sight, skyblue phone in or any other media you can find a voice on including backing and taking part in any protest about getting them out. The worst that can happen is you make life uncomfortable for them while they are here which is only fair given that's what they're doing to us. The best thing being that with a united voice they might just take the hint and publicly invite offers for the club.

I've stopped going because the football is dreadful & Pressley is clueless for a Manager with one of the top 8 budgets its not good enough!

This will be the 1st season for the last 25 years that I have not been to a single game. I would average 6/7 games a season. Not a die hard by any stretch but still a Coventry City Football Club supporter. The heart has been ripped out of our club and I feel no affinity with it anymore. I guess there are thousands more that feel the same. It has nothing to do with ticket price for me.

If they left tomorrow attendances would improve but it would take a winning team to get them back in big numbers.

@ Stupot07.....When SISU made the decision to come back to the Ricoh, I thought, along with 10's of thousands of fellow CCFC fans that they were finally going to do things for the good of CCFC....How many posters on here bought ST's on that same understanding? Many of my friends and family were going to give SISU one more chance, only to be kicked in the gonads by Fisher within 24 hours of our return. Crafty F**ker made sure of a couple of thousands more ST's and giant gate receipts from Gillingham game first before opening his f**king big gob. And YOU say it had nothing to do with the 11k gate the following week??? No disrespect mate, but, I think you need to get out more!

Whilst all that is true, we now know they ACL was being sold to wasps behind our backs anyway, so regardless of the crap fisher comes out with.

And no I don't believe him saying that caused 16k to drop off the attendance, 1-2k maybe but but not 16k.

And anyway, either fisher is telling the truth or lying about the new stadium, can't have it both ways.

So because fisher the king of bullshit said Sisu are building a new stadium, everyone believed him and that is why people have stayed away?? Haha
I think someone else needs to get out more

@ Stupot07 & Bennets Afro.........Are you both ST holders?

So if the team was top of the league and in a JPT semi final no one would go as there is a new ground being built?

Does anyone actually believe there's a new ground being built? People are staying away because SISU have made the club toxic from top to bottom for dozens and dozens if not hundreds of reasons. The new ground nonsense being a small part of it.

No they are staying away as there is no bandwagon to roll on. If new owners came a new excuse would be found.

SBK believes a new ground is being built and believes that's why people are not attending.

Bandwagon? Oh, you mean something to cheer so it's an enjoyable experience. The queue for a kick in the nuts is always short and that's all SISU are offering.
