So what are they, mine is promotion nothing less and maybe that JPT cup aswell. Too high ? Well it wasn't for Bristol City and okay they had a bit of money thrown at them but once they got going they achieved both, so why can't we. The next five, MK Dons, Preston, Swindon, Chesterfield and Sheffield United are certainly within our grasp to emulate. TM will get the right players in of that i have no doubt and will get them to play on the front foot. Some on here are saying top 10 or mid-table, not me top two nothing less....and a cup-final.

:claping hands: Ha Ha....well they do say aim high !!

Top 6 for me. Free flowing style with lots of goals would be most most welcome. Couldn't give a shiny shit about the JPT.

I actually don't think Mowbray will care about the JPT. In my opinion, he'll want to concentrate on the league.

They had ALOT of money thrown at them and we're going to try and do it with no money thrown at us. I'm all for optimism but only if it's what your hoping for, not what your expecting.

I think people are getting a little bit ahead of themselves. If we finish 6th I will be jumping for joy. A JPT Wembley final thrown in for good measure wouldn't go a miss, either, but play-offs would be the main aim.

We should have aspirations to be top 6, however, we shouldn't be too negative if we don't quite a achieve it, as TM has said this is about building and it might take a little bit of time. we don't want to be in the position of calling for his head if we finish say 8th.

At this point if we get to the last game of the regular season with a shout of the playoffs that would represent massive progress

As bad as our squad was last year if we had beaten 5 teams at home who finished below us we would have been in the play offs. With a better squad and a better manager the play offs should be the minimum we are aiming for.

As irrelevant as the JPT is in the grand scheme of things I wouldn't say no to a day out at Wembley.

I think TM will want at least a top 6 finish, never mind want the fans want. He expects to be up there himself.

You think? Im not so sure, all his statements have been quite cautious and he said himself that he wanted a 2 year deal because by the second season he will have built a squad of the right shape and quality. Im all for optimism but i dont want to be reading posts on here after Xmas whining if we arent in the top 6. I would seriously just take a top half finish this season and anything on top is just a bonus.

TBF it's in his fans message.
He says clearly what we should be aspiring to and his length of contract intimating what we should achieve by then. I take it from that message he expects promotion this year. He has received permission to dump a bunch of players and replace.
That's sounds like the reason for so much delay in getting the yes from the top to do this. Without that he can't deliver.
Accepting a top six finish will be his minimum, hopefully promotion first season and if not, guaranteed by the second season.

I think we are in for a very enjoyable journey with the caveat that SISU do not start playing silly buggers with him. This is not a man of SP calibre and would walk out if treated in such a way having had a long hard fought drawn out appointment with a clear and precise plan. he's put his neck on the block for the Sky Blues I feel with the firm belief he can achieve those goals. Only SISU could upset that. So here we go.....

I would want to see the club challenge in the JPT as well as the league. Considering the quality of the teams in our region will probably be reduced next time round - it's not as much of a bind to make serious headway. We've made Area final and Semi Final in the last 3 seasons.

What's more - success often breeds success.

Of course he was being cautious. Can you imagine if he said we were aiming for automatic promotion and we had a bad start? Some would have their knives out. Of course he is aiming for the top 2. I would be happy to bet against us not reaching the top 6. He took over a poor squad and got results from it. The squad was so poor that he let most of them go that were out of contract. If he can improve on our home form whilst keeping the away form similar we will be top 2 or very close.

A good keeper will be worth points. A striker scoring goals will be worth points. Goals from midfield the same. We were shockingly bad under SP. We had games without a shot on target. I can't see that happening under TM. Yes we will lose games we should win. But that happens to all teams. We were not many wins out of the top 6 even after how badly we played most of the season.

But you know what happens if we get into the play offs...a sell out home crowd and we know how well we perform in those games!

I think the knives would be out from some sections of the crowd regardless of what he said. I have no doubt the knives will be out at some point this season even if we are doing well.

I am not saying we arent capable of promotion this season, all teams are before the season begins, but i also dont think TM is a magician and this is a shitty league to get out of. You can aim for the top 2 all you like but it doesnt make it easy.

It is a shit division full stop. Average/poor players in the Championship look good in this division. Look at Leon Clarke. Scores lots in this division but not many one division up. Baker just had a good season at MK. Would you like to guess how he does next season with them? TM has the contacts. If he manages to bring in a couple of Championship level players we will be flying. And we could easily get players that will play for him that want to get their careers going again. We have up to 8 spaces in our squad to fill. And maybe a few loans as well.

This is exactly it. We have become desensitised in this league and forgotten how poor it really is. If he can replicate some of the form he ended the season with and given that it will be with his own squad he brings about, then top 2 is even achievable in my opinion. Chesterfield top 6? Come on TM's army have promotion set in their sights as we speak. I know it, SISU know it and the rest of us better know it.
Could it all be a disaster? Of course it could but that would be like saying Van Gaul would fail at Utd...just not gonna happen.

If the point of aspiration is about setting a direction not a destination, then I aspire for us to be a top flight club with the odd bit of European football. I genuinely think that's a reasonable level for us to aim at.

Short term target has to be getting out of this league ASAP as it's killing the club. Don't care about anything else until that happens.

Top 6 I feel. I also would like League cup run, and minimum of Round 3 FA Cup, I enjoy the JPT. Wembley day out, slag it off as much as you like Bristol City certainly enjoyed there day!!

If TM can persuade Reda Johnson to sign a new deal and can get 35-40 games out of him, then I have no doubt we will be challenging at the right end of the table

How many times have we finished in the top half of the table over the last 30 years, 2/3 times? It doesn't seem to matter what league we are in. Therefore looking these stats, a top half finish would be success for me this season.

Realistically the chance to buy a shirt from the club shop and go to the Ricoh with a buzz in your gut would be a start. I will hold judgement on how we do until TM assembles the spine of his side, if he gets pace and width we could go well.

Best thing SISU have done getting TM....perhaps an admittance they don't know how to run a football club.
yes it is great he has been able to dispose of alot of the deadwood, but that leaves a lot of players to bring in on a limited budget.

I think finding the right players will take about three transfer windows and we should be prepared for that. If people expect instant success and then get frustrated by next February it could wreck this great opportunity. We need to judge TM after two years and not put unrealistic targets in his way.

At least he realises if you want professionalism you have to be professional. Leadership comes from how the club is set up and the people running it. The environment has to send the right message, then the people that work for you adopt the right mindset.

The first job is to avoid relegation. If we can achieve that by February rather than the last day of the season, that indeed would be progress.

I'm not so sure we will have that much trouble finding the right players. It's pretty clear SW won't be playing FM anymore, TM I suspect is a manager players are attracted to, TM is well connected and we're starting the season back at the Ricoh rather than the will they won't they cloud we started last season under. We might not be big on numbers but I think we'll have quality not quantity.

I would agree Hobo but for two reasons. The first is he took over a team that was going to get relegated before the last day of the season and turned things around. We ended up with top 10 form and finished in 17th. So are you honestly saying that you only think he will do the same as with a poor squad and players not his choice as when he has his own players? And the second is as I have said before. This is a shit division.
