City fans thoughts on cheap season ticket prices! (9 Viewers)

More evidence that turnstyle income matters not to a company who have bigger fish to fry than care about a mere football club. Football league where are you?

Seriously????

TM is doing his level best to change things, even small things that others might see as unimportant but he's particularly trying to rid us of the 'negativity' that's hung over this Club for more years than I care to remember.

Also important not to get 'bogged down' with the obsession re our ownership, I could go back over far too many years but it's no good playing the 'blame game'!

Outside influence and deviousness hasn't helped and we are where we are and need to look forward with some hope and belief, just for a change.

Season ticket prices are very competitive and it's now up to supporters to put their hands in their pockets and back TM, his Staff & the Squad.

There is nothing wrong with the prices at all, they are very good value. Sales however will depend on whether supporters trust the club/manager to be able to deliver a squad that won't be struggling to create chances, score goals and generate some excitement. Last year was painful for those who mainly went to home matches.

I imagine when TM is back of holiday, and some signings are made the ST sales will start moving.

Hopefully they'll make some decent signings before the end of the early bird price.

There's a lot of factors involved still though. For some it's enough that TM has signed. Others will be waiting to see if there's a pay monthly scheme introduced or just leave it as long as possible before the early bird runs out to hand their cash over. Some will wait to see the signings, others will want to be sure Maddison isn't being sold. Some people will wait til the new kit is out so they can get that together with their ST. And some, like in the OPs quote are too bitter about SISU to see the ST prices as a good thing and probably won't be back until we're promoted again!

The first ever RFC post without capitals! But I agree. This is a watershed moment for us and the perfect time to park the past.

This looks like the worse league 1 in many years and with a proven manager in charge, I really feel this is it.

A few early wins and 15k would soon turn into 20k and then the wave of success would be ridden.

The CT comments section is so depressing. No matter how much supporters dislike the owners the players out on the pitch are still Coventry City and should get our support.

The ST prices have to result in SISU taking the next campaign seriously, starting with trying to get supporters back behind us.

Already hearing lots of people saying they are getting one because of how reasonable they are. Just hope the improvements in personnel and performance on the field backs it up

I think you are underestimating the damage done by 'Northampton' !

I agree entirely. Going there broke the bond between me and the club after 50 years. Then last season we got season tickets but it was one miserable game after another, to the point that I could barely be bothered to go to games I'd already paid for.

I am not willing to take that chance next season. Mowbray signing is great news but he isn't the one on the pitch. The prices are good but cost isn't really a factor for me. The club are going to have to show some serious change before we are enticed back. After 47 season tickets it's going to be a 6-match package next season. I don't want to suffer that again after the euphoria and then disappointment of the return to the Ricoh.

I was under the impression that offering cheap deals was a sign of desperation and proof the club wouldn't be around for long

It does seem to have twisted and warped some people beyond any sense of reason or rational.

It's not without reason or rational at all. SISU maintained the club were going to stay in Northampton for 3 years possibly 5, what effect do you think that had on thousands of fans, especially the elderly and younger fans. It didn't last that long but peoples mind set and habits changed completely, some people died never to see their team play at home again and many of the kids lost their links. I for one will never forgive this spiteful hedge fund for the damage they caused !

I understand that to an extent, but if you really love the club then surely you could see past that? We've had sh1t owners before - and will again no doubt - but does the badge, the team on the pitch and the history we have been part of following CCFC not overcome what SISU are trying to do to us and our club?

No, I'm not sure it does overcome it.

For some, as Ashdown has said, SISU have broken those links. And those links, that loyalty set in stone, were for the majority formed when we were kids. At our most influenced period during our lives, when everything was surrounded with awe, when adults commanded respect just for being big, we got to walk amongst them. Tripping over shoelaces trying to keep up with your dad through Gosford Street, turning the corner into the terraced streets and seeing the Welcome to Coventry City FC sign. The street sellers looming over you with programmes and badges, grasping your ticket like it was made of gold and going through those big intimidating iron turnstiles. Walking up the steps and seeing that first glimpse of hallowed turf, watching your heroes warming up and praying no-one tall stands in front of you. The delirium when the terrace would erupt around you when a goal went in and the fear of losing your dad in the surge on the way out.

Those days are gone and when that link is broken, for the now grown ups, it's almost impossible to get it back

I'm not saying the anger is without reason that isn't what I meant, everyone is angry at what happened. I'm saying because of what happened some people can no longer be reasoned with now and all sense of logic is completely thrown out of the window. Exhibit A see the quote in the first post of this thread, something which should be seen as a positive move is in his mind a negative. Would he be talking like that had Northampton not happened, I doubt it.

As many of us forecast at the time. Bonds of generations, & traditions would be broken by THAT move. All of them probably feel very strongly the need to go & cheer the team on Saturday afternoons & occasional weekday evenings...but some of the love has been lost. It will take 5-10x as long as we were in Northampton to rebuild that commitment - & some form of success along the way.
Like challenging for play-offs next season at least...then playoffs or automatic promotion...then mid-championship. The committed loyalty would then start to return. Otherwise I fear they will lose it for 10-20yrs!!!

Personally I think the club is ruined, at the moment I can't see any way back. As someone who didn't follow the club when it was in the top flight it probably doesn't have as much impact on me as others.

So the committed loyalty will come back when there is success? Ironic

I think the prices are great and if the club can create some hype in terms of signings then the numbers should be well in excess of our 14/15 figures.

If going to Northampton did so much damage how come 27,306 turned up for the Gillingham game?

It also doesn't account for the number of people who had season tickets for the season just gone who now say they are not renewing. Obviously there isn't an accurate figure for that put there's plenty on here saying that is their position.

Northampton was shite, lets face it and yes maybe damage was done to some supporters but i think the ticket prices are a great statment of intent to bring people back however they need momentum here and do a real fans engagement piece to get more bums on seats. Sadly they will fail on this front but time will tell, If TM is able to bring in his own team(back office included) then people will return.

We need to get over N'ton, its in the past.

The idiotic thing is that most of the them go on about Northampton then describe Wasps as well run.

Most of them?

What has been said is Wasps did what SISU should have done. That is negotiated on taking over the arena. And I don't count constant litigation as negotiating. We are yet to see how well they are run. It would be much easier to run CCFC in Coventry than Wasps. So far it would be hard to say that Wasps are not run better than our club. It doesn't mean they are being run well though.

The Gillingham crowd was a statement to the owners and an outpouring of relief, 'Get it right and you could have backing like this more often' , Fisher fucked it up within days though didn't he by opening his trap and saying it was all temporary.

As you know many went to that game as it was our first one back where we belong. In Coventry. People took time off work/swapped shifts/changed plans amongst other things. But then we were given poor games most of the time. Those that bought ST's were repaid with crap games. Many stopped going and didn't use their ST. Why would those just buy one fr the sake of it?

Give us performances and win some games and many will be back. But many will hold on because of what happened the last two seasons.

Not maybe, definitely. All my 3 girls dropped off during that period and I know dozens of others who walked away, they are all doing other stuff now. The club will only get these back now if and when they generate some excitement, Mowbray I hope is a good move, the next has to be backing him with a genuine budget, thus far we have handed out a few pro contracts to kids. SISU have lied and blagged their way through for the last few years and people don't trust them. Let's see Mowbrays Marauders taking shape and looking like a team and threatening to compete.

Well, that is my position so I will try to clarify why that is the case.

After having a ST since promotion, moving away was a huge blow. It did break the bond by which I would always renew regardless of what was happening. Wife and I did get our old seats when we returned but it just wasn't the same - it was somehow not my club any more. The awful match day experience and dire team seemed to matter far more than before and frankly going to games was a laborious chore.

So we are not having STs this season. I would love that to be a temporary break and for the club to really make me want to go to games again. Once you break a 50-year habit, it takes some getting back. We are planning a 6-game package to see if that does anything for us so time will tell.

It's not my personal view but it applies to others, and I totally get it.

But we were there long enough for some to have broken the habits of a life time. And if those people realise that they've enjoy a game of golf more, or meeting the friends straight down the pub instead of the match, or digging the allotment, or taking the kids out for a bike ride, or banging the woman next door while her husband was in Northampton watching City, then it's going to take more than a cheap season ticket to get them back. Because all the magic of footy, everything that made you fall in love with the game when you were a kid has changed or turned to habit. And when the habit is broken or the magic has gone, then going up the footy is purely an entertainment competing against all other entertainments, and City hasn't been entertaining for quite a while

It's like getting divorced and then meeting up and sleeping with her 2 years later. Feels good for a moment but you're soon reminded of all the things (TF's we still need our own stadium comments) that made you get divorced in the first place
