I drove past the Ricoh today and glanced at the insect signage that is adjacent to the A444. It got me wondering would we ever be in a position to own it as we should do. Wishful thinking but could all of these events fall into place?
In the next two years we get promoted.
Sisu decide we are not at the bottom of the cycle, they sell up.
New owners come in who have the best interests of the club at heart.
Long term lease signed with Wasps.
The novelty of top flight Rugby Wears off, London based Wasps fans fed up travelling round trip of nearly 200 miles, gates fall, debts can't be paid, dividends can't be paid. Stadium has to be sold!
CCFC step in to become the Landlords.
Wasps clear off down South where they belong.
Cov are once again the City's only true rugby team and regain their top flight status
So do we!

Sisu don't seem to have a plan.If they do it is a very, very secret one. Until they go I can't see any real progress off the pitch.Only hope on it is down to Mowbray.
It would be interesting to see the gates if Wasps hit a bad patch. Can't see to many standing by a losing, outsider rugby team.

Yep. Coventry isn't big enough or affluent enough to sustain 2 big successful teams. If wasps manage to attract 15-20k+ regularly next season, our attendances will continue to be disappointing. Interesting to see that Osprays in the shadow of Swansea FC, mainly got crowds of 6-7k last season

I can't see wasps failing, but I do hope that their attendance drop significantly. They shouldn't be in this city, and they certainly shouldn't be the best supported team in this city.

Not always the case. Sheffield for example has a higher population than us (around 550k) but United and Wednesday both pull in an average of around 20k. Wasps have Leicester, Worcester and Northampton all in the Midlands to compete with in the Midlands. All 3 have historically pulled from different parts of Warwickshire, no idea bout the other areas but a quick trip down the M5 to Worcester is easier than coming past Birmingham to watch wasps.

And they won't just be competing for fans against PL rugby clubs but us and the local football clubs including PL clubs (villa, WBA, Birmingham, wolves, lcfc, etc).

Our support has been built on nearly 50 years of being mainly shite.

Not sour grapes on my part. Since they have come in they have put Sisu to shame with their PR and their over all approach. However, in my view they should not be here. They have become a franchise club. Despite their free travel plan and reduced tickets last season they have left their loyal fan base in the lurch. There will be people in and around the London area who have followed that club all of their lives. Wasps will mean as much to them as City means to us. Sports clubs are a product of their community. That's where they should stay. Some have said that Wasps have always been nomadic. That may be so but at least they have been nomadic in the London area. They shouldn't be ripped away because an owner with no affinity to that community comes in and wants to make money. Moving away was wrong for Wimbledon, wrong for us and wrong for Wasps.
My reasons for hoping they fail are twofold. In my view franchise clubs don't deserve to succeed. Also Wasps failure is maybe our opportunity.

That's the problem though, none of the plans proposed seem viable. No hope of success playing underlings at the Ricoh, no prospect of building within Coventry and the idea of building in one of the surrounding areas isn't popular amongst fans. And through all this every year more fans turn there back on the club making it even harder. SISU and CCC have well and truly shafted us playing games with the Ricoh Arena.

And they could have built their own stadium for the same 50m if they had the money and a lot closer to home. And to me Coventry will never be their home. Just like Northampton would never have been ours.

Some people like to take a gamble. If it pays off they will get their money back plus 50% on top. In the bank they would be lucky to get 10%. If it is so good why didn't they get a low interest loan?

I'm saying, I don't believe Wasps will fail and have to run away with their tail (or stinger) between their legs.

Personally I think Eastwood is pretty clued up as a business man, far more so than anyone connected to SISU. So how is that 'being fair'? He doesn't want to take any risk yet wants to reap the profits. I'm sure it's this attitude and approach that has made him.a successful business man.
