Big man up top? (2 Viewers)

I feel the same, if TM doesn't bring a target man in, I don't think it's a big deal?

Tudgay, Maddison, Armstrong could be deadly in this league with the right service.

We will be more quick, creative and attacking this year. We need natural finishers!

Everyone loves a cheeky bit of old school. Big man little man up top, centre halves, jumpers for goalposts, bovril at half time. Lovely.

TM wants to play football which means play it around on the deck but we need strength up top, someone to hold up play, break up the centre halves etc and its good to have a different style on the bench to change things if plan A isnt working.

Just want to ask, why is everyone desperate for a target man up front?

I'm a big advocate on needing a target man. We don't have one. Do we need one? Yes certainly.

Before you shoot me down TM thinks so to and has already tried to sign proswich for this reason. It's an extra body to defend set pieces and up top it gives an outlet it gives another option.

In league 1 it's more old school football it isn't pretty passy premier league. So if we get a game when madderz tudgay et all are all being shoved off the ball we have a man to fight back and not just get rolled over as far too often in the past.

So yes it's a vital component for me.

Course we need a target man. This is league one football, where centre halves are big brutes. If we had Maddison and Armstrong up front they'd get kicked to pieces. You need someone like a Leon Clarke to take the defenders away from the nippy attacking players.

Dead right. Have we forgotten how some of the bigger sides have bossed us around in this division ?

i would like a strong forward for sure. but its not always required thats all. 2 little strikers could still find a way to promotion imo. all down tot actics.

but yeh get a big brute in! is ismeal miller still playing? he did well at wba for mowbray?

We can stick big Reda up front as an emergency striker for the last 10 mins if needs be, like that game at the end of the season he scored in, Colchester was it.

I wonder how many he'd score if he played up front all season, at least 10 I think!

Exactly. Swindon came to mind as they had a target man who scored for fun, a CB who scored for fun and that Swift lad from Chelsea who I guess in size and guile can be compared to Maddison. They ripped the league to shreds. Although then again, if Armstrong scores for fun, Reda scores a few again and Maddison/Lameiras make a step up and we defend like a professional football team this season we might be alright. Not saying we'd ever do a Swindon though, they were class!

Woudldn't call them class, very good going forward, very weak defensively which was their undoing tbh. This year will be very different for them.

Tudgay is fairly strong on the ball and holding it up, I'd rather go for pace up front if it was an either or, but another big man up front would be helpful, for as mentioned another option. But it isn't necessary.

I don't think prostrate, or whatever the German fella was called, was a target man in the slightest.
I do think we need a talismatic figure up top with the young lads. Someone who can communicate and rally. Tudgay seems quite a quiet chap to me. We need a lower league Dion type.

I'd like him to do one of his analysis to see where he currently thinks spending Is on the Squad overall ,the current 24 that Is.

It's not a necessity. But you need a much much stronger midfield than we have had in recent years without one. Otherwise the ball just keeps coming back.

Tonight's result was a prime example we need someone big and strong. We have the small nippy flare players but we need a strong man and pacey Armstrong up front

I think we need one too. Quite like the look of Aaron Wilbraham, I can't see Bristol City wanting to keep him either.
