Do you believe that our few signings are going to make a big difference to what we had last season?

Yes. Vincelot, Ricketts and Armstrong are huge upgrades on Thomas, Webster and Miller, Proschwitz, Nouble etc.

................................

I aree with that, but ae they upgrades on Ward, Pennington and Samuel ?

Yes mowbray sounded very defeatist today and who can blame him. He is not panicking but he clearly isn't where he thought we would be by now. He said as much himself today post match.

Make no mistake today was awful and thank the lord it was just pre season. My issue is we might very well play better next week but then again it's the league favorites who won't sky penalties and will take their chances. And even if they don't and they miss 4 open goals then how do we score to win the game? Armstrong isn't the answer currently up top on his own and 5ft 9. Maddison and Ramires are shorter again and offer basically the same thing.

we need players and not just strikers but please oh please give us some men. Over 6ft and have some presence and experience. Watching today was like watching a Saturday morning school kid game and not a very good one at that.

All the posters that said give TM time ,he will have signed the players by end of July. or they will be worried. bet you cant sleep at night. You know who you are. We don't need kids on loans we need experienced forward players now. Hope he can get one or two in the next week or so.
Bet you can't sleep at night??? Erm I expect they can. What a twattish thing to say. You know who you are?? What a cock.

That was pretty rubbish.

Can I be the first to use UnconVincelot?

Genuine Questions.....Have you seen him play before in this pre-season?

...also, Why are you unconvinced by him at this stage?

The main reason I'm disappointed with pre season is, in theory we practically had a clean budget this season.

We had a £2.5 million budget.

A lot of players left at the end of last season, so we only had so many contracted players here.

My point being, surely there was plenty of room to manoeuvre regarding wages etc.

Last season it was; "We have to get a few off the books before....", that is my point.

Just took my time reading through this whole thread and the problem is obviously Nick.

Nick keeps predicting we will win 4-1....and I Wish he would stop it!

of course you just phone up who you want and they automatically sign for Coventry City.

6 players have gone off the wage bill and 4 have come in so not much manoeuvre room

God forbid you ever make a realistic post Ashdown. All the "Rose tinted spec wearers" will call you from your hole to your pole mate. I've always believed that a new manager should be given a chance to prove himself(Elvis,Thorne,Coleman,Boothroyd) I gave all of them a fair crack of the whip, but all let CCFC down very badly. TM is a very good manager(Nobody can deny that)....But!....Does anybody feel he might have taken on a basket case with us?

Yep.

There was a lot of bullshit put out about SP.
There was a lot of bullshit spoated about where we should have finished last season.
Just because we have TM now on board doesn't mean promotion is a given. Even with resources, to expect a re build in one transfer window is over optimistic.

That is why it is a two season job....get used to it. He is still actively looking for players. It will take time for them to gel. He also requires some of the existing squad to prove they can make individual progress.

What about loans, did we pay a % of their wages?

All I'm saying is, we released players like Nouble etc. And only had several senior players on the books, clearing up a lot of wages.

Whereas seasons gone by, we have to get rid of players (which was a struggle as no one wants them), to bring in players.

Edit: Check your facts: http://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/article/...release-frank-nouble-adam-barton-2461859.aspx

No, but you don't have to get rid of players, that no one wants to pay a fee for, to free up wages to enable you to sign the players you DO want?

Calm down, girls. The season hasn't started yet. There's a month to get the players we want.

But the season doesn't start in a month? Fair enough if the players were storming pre season and scoring bags of goals but we're not. Mowbray should be looking to address it now.

If the players were 'storming' pre-season that still wouldn't work as a precursor for a good season.

I know. Just fans wouldn't be begging for reinforcements if Tudgay had scored 8, Maddison got 6, midfield got a few because that would show the players we have are capable of finding the net.

Remember Pressley and Thorn and some of the players they signed and we all lapped it up because we were signing lots of players. They were shit. Like Mowbray I'd rather we get the right ones.

I'm sure he is trying to address it now, I doubt Mowbray will be sitting at home this week thinking everythings ok and I've got 4 weeks to sort it and doing nothing. Its just an acknowledgement that it could and probably will take longer than a week to be sorted to a level Mowbray is happy with.
