Hopefully he can take confidence from the goal and take that to his shooting feet in the league. He could be a big big player for us this season if he can find his shooting feet in the league.

Okay we are out of that cup but to my mind we won that game, had the ball in their net three times just wasn't our day. Put it this way Rochdale will be more wary of us than we will be of them next time we meet.

It was George Thomas who was offside apparently by a yard, although Tony reviewed it before being interviewed by Geoff and said it was onside. We just have to move on.

I've just watched it again and Thomas wasn't offside. However, as Fleck plays the cross Tudgay IS offside. (You have to pause it as Fleck makes contact and it is marginal.)

But after that the defenders drop deep, Tudgay comes back onside and it comes off a defenders head so I thought that meant he was then onside again.

I know TM mentioned it was Thomas that was given offside but even under the new rule he doesn't even make a clear indication the play the ball so I thought that meant he is not interfering.

as i posted on another thread, we have previous with mr ilderton, he has given nothing but a scant disregard to CCFC,
the next fixture against rochdale should see us given a 2 goal start,
& for good measure mr ilderton should be made to forward his wages for the next 6 weeks to a Coventry based football charity,
ahem !!!!!!

But he wasn't the one who raised the flag. How can he be blamed?

I also reviewed that clip, several times, and came to the conclusion that the lino must have flagged for the cross to Thomas from Fleck, i.e the offside call was made just before the clearance from the defender, from which Tudgay scored. As you say, it was marginal, and possibly too close to correctly call from the video; but I was less peeved after seeing the clip.

Not the best angle, Thomas is around the semi circle and definitely onside. Tudgay is the next one to the right and it looks too tough to call from the angle of the picture.

Was just going to post the same shot! Great minds!

Still inconclusive IMO. But I don't think lino's are trained to give the advantage to the attacking side; always side with the defending team.

Both the defenders around Thomas look behind him. Tudgay I can't tell, but when the defender heads the ball that is now classed as the end of that phase. At that point, Tudgay was definitely onside. Just my opinion, without the best of angles, but it does look like we got screwed a bit!

If he has a History against us and i don't know as i have not yet watched the footage (and never heard of him before), clubs can score an officail very low and request that they do not officiate any more of their games (i know this as Chelsea and Man Utd have done it a few times and i remember reading about it). Not guaranteed that it will be granted BUT usually if another ref available they don't get the game to prevent any problems. Maybe TM could do this if he is made aware of it, as we have a new manager every year maybe they are never aware of prevoius history with certain refs. Play Up You Fucking Sky Blues (PUYFSK) we love you.
