How results stand we'd move up to 2nd if we won, I think? Draw we move 3rd I think

This will be similar to the Crewe game. 2-1 win

Going to be interesting to see what Mowbray does without Maddison, Southend have had a poor start so I'm going for a below par performance but to grind out a 2-1 win.

Southend are one of those clubs I literally know nothing about. Freddie Eastwood, beat Man U in the cup before thats about as far as my knowledge goes. That's not me being patronizing, I know a lot about the other clubs in this league but not Southend.

Oh, Southend haven't won yet. They haven't scored in the last 4 games. They've scored 1 goal all season. They employ ex midfielder the Irish pitbull Gary Deegan. What on earth could go wrong?

That's odd. Have I missed something? They haven't won yet and scored one goal. We've lost 1 game to a team who's top of the league and beaten 2 Championship sides in the cup. Otherwise, we've been very impressive so far.

I think it's standard "We've lost to a load of shit teams, but that's us, we'll do well against good teams" justififcation that creeps in when you've lost a few. We should know it well.

To be fair, we should be cautious.

Big test of character for the team on monday, against a team that hasn't won yet, the old CCFC would lose it.

Hopefully TM has got in the player's heads and got them itching to make up for Walsall.

If only there was a thread on this :sarcasm:

Gaming convention on today.

Oh. Silly me. To be fair, I used the search option for something earlier today and it bought back a thread from 2012 so I'm not sure it would have made much difference.

Think we will win 2-0 and TM will stick with same 4-2-3-1 formation with as few changes as possible
Burge
Phillips Ricketts Johnson Stokes
Vincelot Fleck
JOB Lameiras Murphy
Armstrong

Subs: Cook, Martin, Haynes, Morris, G,Thomas, Tudguy, Swanson

I think Mowbray will use the injuries to try out a new shape, putting both of the Kelly-Evans twins at right back. That'll confuse them.

Getting back from sunny Corfu in time for this game so it better be worth it :D

I'm going for a 2-1 City win. Phillips in for Willis and probably Morris instead of Murphy in for Maddison, with JOB going on Maddison's wide side, or Rubén moving into that position

We will lose 1-0. It will be very obvious how much we will miss Maddison. We were a completely different side when he went off at Walsall.

I am worried about this game. Was very confident about Wigan and again against Crewe, but I have a feeling we won't win this one. Think that defeat last week might have knocked some stuffing out of us, with our not at all playing well and losing 2 first teamers to injury.

Think Maddison's trickery allowed Amrstrong more space. Would guess Southend are going to try and mark him out of the game. We need Lameiras to step up to the plate. Think he could be key to any victory, but I am going for a 0-0 or 1-1.

To be fair though, usually a manager watches a game and sees what is and isn't working as the game pans out and then makes changes accordingly. Obviously he then too has to react to injuries.

Losing a player after 6 mins must have really knocked the wind out of our sails. No-one expects to lose a player so early in a game.

We don't know of course, but had we say lost Maddison after 30 mins instead of after 6, the game might have panned out differently.

Does seem that losing Maddison really dented our hopes last week though.
